Rachel Ann Carrillo Vera

Rachel Ann Carrillo Vera of Pettus, Texas was born on October 13, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas to Domingo Carrillo and Esperanza De Los Santos Moreno passed away on December 17, 2021 in Beeville, TX at the age of 58. Rachel is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Esperanza De Los Santos Moreno, stepdad Paul Moreno and an infant son, Luis 30-06 “Bullet” Vera.  She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years who she married on Feb. 14, 1992: Luis Carlos Vera. She is also survived by her beautiful daughters: Jordan Hope Vera of Austin, TX, Sabrina Doe Vera of Pettus, TX, Ruby Red Vera of Pettus, TX, Erika Marie Vera of Alice, TX and Crystal Castillo of Alice, Texas; grandchildren: Elizabeth Grace Vera, Ariana Martinez, Pedro Martinez Jr. , Araceli Martinez, Gabriella Castillo, Daniella Castillo, and Raul Castillo Jr.; sisters: Abigail (Davis) Brown of Pawnee, TX and Deborah (Woodie) Carrillo Spivey of Boerne, TX; brothers: Joe Lee (Betty Jo) Carrillo of Tuleta, TX, J.D. (Annie) Carrillo of Pettus, TX, Steven Govea of Corpus Christi, TX, Marco (Jenny) Govea of McAllen, Joel (Analee) Govea of Kingsville, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 4:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Pastor Robert Charles officiating. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at Heavenly Gates Family Worship Center, 722 W. Refugio St, Runge, TX with Pastor Robert Charles officiating. James “Jimmy” R. Choate

James R. Choate of Kenedy, Texas was born on October 5, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to Brady Earl Choate and Doris Mae Jones Choate passed away at his residence on December 17, 2021 at the age of 75. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 54 years: Ellen Choate of Kenedy, TX; his daughters: Dorothy (David) Wood, Thomaston, TX and Donna (Robert) Mae Busselman of Kenedy, TX; five grandchildren: D.J. , Ashley, Cristi, Mariah, Madison aka Duck; five great grandchildren: Cole, Lily, Macie, Raelynn and Avery; like a brother: Robert (Thelma) James Marichalar; and other relatives and friends.  A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 19,2021 at 1:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with daughter: Donna M. Busselman to lead in his celebration of life. (Services to conclude in chapel). Reception following at daughter’s residence. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jesus J. Rios

Jesus J. Rios Age, 79 of Charco, TX passed away on December 6, 2021 in Victoria, TX surrounded by his loving family.  Jesus was born on June 18, 1942 in Runge, TX to the late Fernando and Vicenta De Los Santos Rios.  He married Francisca Rico on September 19, 1960 in Runge, TX, retired as an Oilfield Foreman, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend to many and of the Catholic Faith.  He is preceded in death by his parents Fernando and Vicenta De Los Santos Rios; sister, Veronica Skelton; brothers, Roberto Rios, Salvador Rios and Eduardo Rios. He is survived by his loving wife Francisca Rico Rios of Charco; daughters, Maria Salazar and husband John of Goliad, Priscilla Rios of Victoria; sons, Jesse Rios and wife Carolyn of Runge, Daniel Rios of Houston; sisters, Delfina Vasquez of Natalia, Elena Rios of San Antonio, Leticia LaSoya of San Antonio; brothers, Fernando Rios of Runge, Heriberto Rios of Amarillo, 5 grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

A Holy Rosary will be recited by the Rev. Norbert Hermann Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 9:30 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Runge, TX.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Runge, TX with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Runge Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers: John Salazar, Chase Cisneros, Jesse Rios, Eric Gaona, Ben Garcia, and Mario Garza.

Leonel “Leo” Valerio

Leonel “Leo” Valerio, Age 71 of Kenedy, TX passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 2, 2021.  Leo was born on August 30, 1950 in Robstown, TX to the late Jesus and Anita Verdin Valerio.  He married Enedelia Garcia on March 24, 1973 in Dallas, TX, retired from Central Power and Light and his later years in life worked at Kenedy Regional Airport and was of the Christian Faith.  Leo is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Anita Verdin Valerio.  Leo is survived by his loving wife Enedelia Garcia Valerio of Kenedy; daughters, Pauline Olivia Valerio-Torres and husband Jose of Kenedy, Linda Valerio Means and husband Chris of Lewisville; grandchildren, Brenna Escamilla, Hannah Escamilla, Jaren Escamilla, Leonel Escamilla, Caitriona Means, Scotaidh Means; sister, Maria Nunez and husband Ruben of San Diego; brothers, Alfredo Valerio of La Rosita Ranch, Arturo Valerio and wife Anna of San Diego; beloved friends Isaiah Barreintez, Nicole Shortsleeve and a host of family and friends.  Family Visitation will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 from 5PM to 7PM with a Prayer Service starting at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Alejandro Serna officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Jose Torres, Chris Means, Isaiah Barrientez, Johnny Escamilla, Enrique Garcia, Alberto Martinez, Roel Nunez, Ruben Nunez.

Baldomero “Bo” A. Salinas

Baldomero “Bo” A. Salinas of Kenedy, Texas was born on August 1, 1955 to Benito P. Salinas and Maria Alaniz Salinas in Kenedy, TX passed away on December 2, 2021 at the age of 66.  Bo worked for Smolik’s Meat Market as a butcher for over 20 years and was also self employed as a carpenter.  Bo was preceded in death by his parents, Benito P. Salinas and Maria Alaniz Salinas; his two brothers: Bennie Alaniz Salinas Jr and Roberto A. Salinas; and two sisters: Maria Cecelia Salinas and Rachel Salinas. Survivors include his common law spouse: Beatrice Farias Salinas; daughter: Janet Salinas of Kenedy, TX sons: Baldemero “Bodie” Salinas Jr. and Jesse Joe “JJ’ Salinas; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters: Cynthia (Jimmy Jr.) Solis of Kenedy, TX and Clara “Katy” (Felix Barrera Jr.) Salinas, Falfurrias, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Louis Sotelo aka Luis Sotelo

Louis Sotelo of Kenedy, Texas was born on August 5, 1951 in Three Rivers, TX to Hijinio Sotelo and Marcela Leora Sotelo passed away on November 19, 2021 at the age of 70. Mr. Sotelo had worked for Valero and also assisted as a Driver for Meals on Wheels. He is preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers: Hijinio and Alex; sisters: Delia, Sandra, and Diana. He survived by his wife of 41 years: Adelita Flores Sotelo of Kenedy, Texas; his sister Mary Ann (George) Gonzalez of Ft. Worth, TX; five brothers: George Sotelo, Rene (Connie) Sotelo, Robert Sotelo, Steven Sotelo and Sixto Sotello; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 8:0a.m. to 11:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will begin promptly at 11:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Adelina “Rennie” Rodriguez Kern

Adelina “Rennie” Rodriguez Kern, Age 65 of Kenedy, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 15, 2021.  Rennie was born on July 24, 1956 in Kenedy to the late Saturnino, Sr. and Adelina Salais Rodriguez. She was a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend to many, of the Baptist Faith who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing bingo with her sisters and playing the local game rooms.  She is preceded in death by her husband Donald William Kern; parents, Saturnino, Sr. and Adelina Salais Rodriguez; son, Daniel Kern; brothers, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Ernie Rodriguez, and Raul S. Rodriguez, Sr.  She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Hernandez and husband Jesus of Kenedy, Christi Vera and husband Martin of Kenedy, Jo Ann Kern of Kenedy, Joyce Martinez of Kenedy; son, Reynaldo Kern of Kenedy; sisters, Yolanda, Maria, Josie, Frances, Connie, Geneva, Betty; brothers, Reymundo, Saturnino, Jr; 14 grandchildren, 5 greatgrandchildren and beloved partner Pacifico Martinez.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Chapel with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M.  Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Francisco Jesus Davila Jr. of Victoria, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX was born on March 1, 1959 in Kenedy, Texas to Francisco Jesus Davila and Josefina Vasquez Davila passed away on November 16, 2021 at the age of 62. Mr. Davila is survived by his wife Esmeralda; his daughter: Josephine Davila of Karnes City, TX; son: Francisco “Frankie” Jesus Davila Jr. of Karnes City, TX; 10 grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; sisters: Matilda D. Estrada of Karnes City, TX, Norma (Martin ) Zuniga, Dora Ann (Charlie ) Alvear, Helen Junco, David (Leticia ) Santos, Raymond (Belen) Salas, Johnny Santos and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Juan (Johnny) Barrera

Juan (Johnny) Barrera, age 70, of Centralia,Missouri  passed away on November 10, 2021 at University Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1951 in Kenedy, Texas; a son of Martin Barrera Sr. and Rosita Reyna Barrera.

As a young man, Johnny worked for many years managing restaurants in the San Antonio area as he strove to complete his education, first earning an associates degree in business from Bee County College, and then a degree in nursing from San Antonio College. Johnny worked as a Registered Nurse at Warm Springs Rehabilitation and Methodist Hospital in Texas for many years. After relocating to Missouri, he worked for 25 years as a registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab at University Hospitals and clinics.

Johnny loved everything involving farming, ranching, conservation and wildlife, including fishing, hunting, hiking, and caring for his horses, cattle, and dogs. Johnny also enjoyed grilling, listening to country music, traveling and most importantly spending time with his family.

Johnny is survived by his Mother: Rosita R. Barrera of Karnes City, Texas; three daughters:  Kim Saucedo (Rene) of San Antonio, TX; Nancy Messex of San Antonio, TX, Clarissa Barrera of Centralia, Missouri; a son: Jose Barrera of Centralia, Missouri; three sisters: Irene Tamez (Leonard) of Longview, TX, Arlene DeLosSantos (Rudy) of Victoria, TX and Angie Castillo (James) of Kenedy, TX; a Brother: Martin Barrera Jr. (Veronica) of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Jennifer, Gabrielle, Kimarie, Rene, Kylie, and Arianna; great grandchildren Vincent, Lucian, Loki and Kitty and numerous nieces and nephews. Juan was preceded by his father: Martin Barrera, Sr. and nephew Juan Mateo (Matt) Tamez.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19th, 2021 from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, TX. (Services to conclude at church). Private Inurnment to be held at a later date.

Tiofila Baldaramos

Tiofila Baldaramos, of Kenedy, Texas was born in Panna Maria, Texas on October 28, 1931 to Jose Acosta and  Diega Hernandez Acosta passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the age of 90. Tiofila was a devoted member of the Kenedy El Buen Samaritano Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Domingo Baldaramos. Survivors include her daughters: Maria Dix of San Antonio, TX ; Delma Sonnier of Louisiana, Sandra Bruce of Louisiana, Irene Hermes of Kenedy, TX; son: Luis Baldaramos of Kenedy,TX; sisters: Elvira Cano of Austin; brothers: Gilbert Urea, Ralph Acosta and Wally Acosta all of Austin, TX; loving grandchildren; numerous loving great and great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Prayer service at 6:00p.m. with Pastora Maria Vela officiating and a  Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Eckols Chapel.
