Antonio Gonzales

PAWNEE – Antonio Gonzales, 75, of Pawnee, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011 in San Antonio. He was born Jan. 13, 1936, in Pleasanton to the late Jose Fabian and Francisca Coronado Gonzales. He belonged to Primera Iglesia Bautista Emmanuel in Pawnee, and was a retired farm rancher.
He is survived by daughter, Francis and husband Bernardino Morales of Pawnee; son, Rudy and wife Juana Gonzales of Pawnee; sisters, Andrea Martinez of Lubbuck and Lydia Salinas of Three Rivers; and 3 grandchildren, Yolanda Gonzales, Bernardino Morales Jr., and Jesseca Morales, all of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucia Velasquez Gonzales; 4 sisters; and 1 brother.
Prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at Eckols Chapel. Funeral service will begin 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at Eckols Chapel, with Rev. Leonardo Cantu officiating. Burial will follow at De Ntra Sra De Guadalupe, Pawnee.

Margaret Benke Esse

Margaret Benke Esse, 85, died December 22, 2011 at her home in the Peggy Community in Atascosa County.  She was born April 30, 1926 to Albert and Laura Benke and was raised in the El Oso

Community in Karnes County.  She attended Cadillac School and graduated from Kenedy High School and Southwest Texas State Teachers College.  She was a  bookkeeping teacher at Three Rivers High School for 25 years and was also the office manager, accountant and secretary for the Three Rivers Independent School District Superintendent. 

In 1947, she married Willie H. Esse, Jr. and they made their home in the Fashing/Peggy community.  He preceded her in death August 11, 2010.

Mrs. Esse was a member of the Fashing United Methodist Church and served in the choir, participated in many church programs and fundraisers, and served as church secretary/ treasurer for many years.  She was also a member of the Little Acorn Study Club, Fashing Cemetery Association, South Texas Cattlewomens, Live Oak County Retired Teachers and she enjoyed playing bridge.

Mrs. Esse was a devoted wife and mother and cherished her family.  The family wishes to acknowledge her devout love and support that she gave others throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and one brother.  She is survived by her son, Dr. Ivan Lyn Esse and wife, Robin, and five nieces.

Services are under the direction of Eckols Funeral Home and will be conducted on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10:00am at the Funeral Home, with burial following at the Fashing Cemetery.

Jasmine Michelle Villanueva

Jasmine Michelle Villanueva, infant daughter of Adam Joseph Villanueva and Michelle Villanueva, of Kenedy, died November 11, 2011 in San Antonio. She was born November 11, 2011.

Survivors include father, Adam Joseph Villanueva of Kenedy, mother, Michelle Villanueva of Kenedy; sister, Samantha Villanueva of Kenedy; brothers, Adam Joseph Villanueva, II and Summer Villanueva, both of Kenedy.

Graveside services were held November 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Kenedy Cemetery with Rev. Norbert Herman officiating

Bobby Fain Adams

Bobby Fain Adams, 74, of Kenedy, died November16, 2011 in Kenedy.

Bobby was born December 14, 1936 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to George Allie Adams and Maud Adams. He was a retired plumber and heating and air conditioning technician. He was a Protestant by faith.

Survivors include his daughters, Johnnie Robins, Melissa Kay Daly and Rhonda Kay Adams, all of Midland; son, Freddy Adams of Midland; sisters, Patsy Morris of Midland and Juanita Fisher of Crane; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and friends.

Preceded in death by his father, George Allie Adams; mother, Maud Adams; sisters, Inez Miller and Louis Honey Crow and brothers, Roy Adams and Gerald Adams.

Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Eckols Chapel. Funeral services followed at the Kenedy Cemetery with Rev. Walter Hill, III, officiating.

Pallbearers were Bobby Johnson, Bradley Johnson, Richard Johnson, Richard Lopez, Tony O’Brien and Bobby McKee.

Alegandro “El Siete” Martinez

 

Alex “El Siete” Martinez, 79, of Karnes City, died December 9, 2011 at his home.

He was born September 2, 1932 in Karnes City to Cleo and Gertrude Valadez Martinez. He married Mary Ann Montoya on June 9, 1997 in Karnes City. He was a retired pipeline welder.

Survivors include is wife, Mary Ann Martinez of Karnes City; daughter, Leticia Martinez and her son Andrew Rios of Karnes City; son, Paul Anthony and his wife Jennifer Martinez of South Carolina and their children, Emma Rae, Carlos Anthony, Olivia and Pipa Martinez; sister, Mary Helen and her husband David De La Rosa of Austin and their daughter, Gabby; and brother Cleo Martinez of Houston.

Preceded in death by his parents; sister Leonora Villanueva and brother Jessse Martinez.

A rosary was recited Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria at 6 p.m. with Mass celebrated at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Rodriguez, Dan Rodriguez, Gilbert Perales, Mario Rodriguez, Raymond Lerma, Jr. and Chelo Villarreal. Eckols Funeral Home.

Antonio Alaniz Gonzales

 

Antonio Alaniz Gonzales, 68, of Kenedy, died November 26, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born May 10, 1943 in Nell, Texas to Jesus Gonzales and Guadalupe (Alaniz) Gonzales. He married Dominga (Madrigal) Gonzales on August 24, 1967 in Kenedy. He was a heavy equipment operator for Karnes County Precinct #1. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife Dominga (Madrigal) Gonzales of Kenedy; daughters, Debbie Gonzales and Ralfy Salas, both of Kenedy; father, Jesus Gonzales of Kenedy; sisters, Martha Hernandez and Agarita Cortez, both of Pawnee; brothers, Matias Alaniz Gonzales of Kenedy, Felix Alaniz Gonzales of Three Rivers, Juan Alaniz of Coy City and Miguel Alaniz Gonzales of Coy City; three grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe (Alaniz) Gonzales and brother, Benito Alaniz Gonzales.

A rosary will be recited Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Burial followed at the Nell Cemetery near Pawnee.

Pallbearers were Fidencio Hernandez, Randy Diaz, Mike Gonzales, Sr., Dickey Gonzales Jesse Gonzales and Jerry Hernandez.

Norberta R. Salais

NORBERTA R. SALAIS

KENEDY – Norberta R. Salais, 91, of Kenedy, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2011. She was born June 6, 1920 to the late Cecilio & Epifaiana Trevino Rodriguez. She was married to the late Jesus “Pache” Salais, who died in June 1967.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Dora Rodriguez; her brothers, Merced Garza, Tomas Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez and Pedro Gonzales; her granddaughter, JoAnn G. Rios; her great-grandson, James Daniel; and her son-in-laws, Emilio Perez and Pofirio Trevino.
She is survived by her daughters, Carrie and her husband Jim Copeland of San Antonio, Elodia and her husband Beto Guzman of Kenedy, Janie Perez and her companion Marcelino Olivarez of Kenedy, and Sylvia Trevino of Houston; her sister, Virginia Villarreal of Amarillo; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 at the Eckols Chapel. Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Dan, Roy, and Ray Salais; Jimmy, James, and Johnny DeLa Garza. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, George Arriaga, Robert Castellon, Bert, Jaime, Ruben, Larry, Robert Guzman, J.J. Perez, Chris, Orlando, and John Trevino.

Ivon Mccarn

Ivon McCarn age 85 of Mathis, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX  died Dec. 9th.  She was born Sept. 24, 1926 in Locust Grove, OK to Walter Scott & Bertha Evans McElhaney.  She married William Orville McCarn  Dec. 15, 1945 in Mercedes, TX & he preceded her in death June 14, 1986.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.  She is survived by her daughters Debra and husband Cliff Cloer of San Antonio, Mary Ann McCarn of Seguin.  Son Bill and his wife Tammy McCarn of Tynan, TX.  10 Grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thur. Dec. 15th. From 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Eckols Chapel.  Funeral services will be held Friday Dec. 16th. At 2:00 PM in the Eckols Chapel with Darrell Knight officiating.  Interment will be in the Pawnee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Connor McCarn, Bob McCarn, Dennis McCarn, Steve McCarn, Neal McCarn and Jerame Minter.   Memorials  may be donated in her name to American Diabetes Association.

Josie Aguirre

Josie R. Aguirre, 66, of Kenedy, died December 6, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.

Josie was born January 24, 1945 in Karnes County to Domingo Rodriguez, Sr. and Herlinda (Valdez) Rodriguez. She married Frank Aguirre on September 19, 1964 in Karnes County. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Aguirre of Kenedy; daughter, Delia (Rene) Serna of Beaumont, TX; three grandchildren, Michael F. Serna, Mark R. Serna and Matthew A. Serna, all of Beaumont; sisters, Maria Valadez and Rosa Salinas, both of Kenedy; and brother, Guadalupe Rodriguez of El Oso, TX..

Preceded in death by her father, Domingo Rodriguez, Sr.; mother, Herlinda (Valdez) Rodriguez; and brothers, Domingo Rodriguez, Jr., Dolorez Rodriguez, Esperion Rodriguez, Felipe Rodriguez and Luis Rodriguez.

A rosary was recited Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at 8 p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Burial followed at the Kenedy Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael F. Serna, Mark R. Serna, Matthew A. Serna, Alfredo Aguirre, Jimmy Valadez and Jay Bruce. Honorary pallbearers were Armando Aguirre and Andrew LeBlanc.

Julia B. Homeyer

JULIA BERNARD HOMEYER

KENEDY – Julia Bernard Homeyer, 79, of Kenedy, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2011. She was born July 30, 1932, in Granger to the late J.T. and Maud Robbins Bernard. She worked with her husband Alex A. Homeyer Jr. in the family lumber business for many years and later worked as a teacher’s aide in Kenedy and Karnes City School Districts.
“Momo” was an avid homemaker who had the ability to make something out of nothing with her God-given talents and unique creativity. She was a teacher to all of us and gave us daily lessons in Life. She dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Moy and her husband Thomas of Karnes City; cousin, Donald Ray Bernard of Mesquite; former daughter-in-law, Lori Homeyer of Goliad; grandchildren, Lane Homeyer of Goliad, Thomas “Tres” Moy III and his wife Stephanie of Falls City, Alexis Moy West and her husband Josh of Pawelekvilie; great-grandchildren, Lexi Lee West, Calvin Thomas West, and Isla Grace Moy.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 5 – 7 p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at 4 p.m., with Rev. John Wheat officiating. Interment at Karnes City Cemetery.
