Jean P. (Maxine) Jones

Jean P. (Maxine) Jones of Kenedy, Texas, was called to the Lord on August 23, 2011.

Maxine was born in Olney, Illinois on August 9, 1923 to Sprigg and Martha Poland.  She attended New York Institute of Dietetics.

On January 12, 1944 in Winter Park, Florida, she married Wilbur L. Jones.  Maxine and Wilbur were happily married for 44 years, until his passing.        

After a long and full life Maxine leaves her five children: Sharon Stephens (Hubie), Mt. Juliet, TN ; Janice Cox (Jack) of San Marcos, TX ; Dana Jones-Laub (Phil), Aransas Pass, TX; Bill Jones, Armagosa Valley, NV; and Dean Jones, Kenedy, TX.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbur, sister Sandra, and a son-in-law Jack Cox.       

A Memorial and Interment will be held at the Kenedy Cemetery  in Kenedy, TX with time and date to be announced Later

Larry Edward Hunter

Larry Edward Hunter , Age 63 of Hobson, TX formerly of Minneapolis, Minnesota passed away on August 20, 2011 in Kenedy, TX. Larry was born on March 27, 1948 to the late Edward Harris and Helen Joyce Hunter in Dallas, TX. He retired from Boyer Ford in Minneapolis , MN as a Service Advisor in March of 2011.

He is survived by his wife Maria Rodriquez, daughters; Amy Renee Cole of Carrollton, TX, Yvonne Marie Solis of Killeen, TX, Amanda Marie Munoz of Houston, TX ; sons, Chad Edward Hunter of Denton, TX, Joshua Edward Hunter of Denton, TX, Michael Anthony Ingle of Corinth, TX; brothers, Alfred Ray Hunter of Mesquite, TX, Tony Harris Hunter of Lancaster, TX, Darwin Lee Hunter of Shreveport, LA, Neal Burton of Garland, TX, and seven grandchildren

He is preceded in death by his parents Edward Harris Hunter and Helen Joyce Hunter.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 6PM to 8PM at Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011 @ 10:30 AM at Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow at the Los Cinco Rodriquez Cemetery near Karnes City, TX.

Jo Ann Merriman

Jo Ann Merriman, 60 of Kenedy, TX, went to be with The Lord on August 18, 2011. Jo was born in Edinburg, TX on December 16, 1950 to Dewey F. Merriman and Elwanda Merriman. She graduated from Sharyland High School in 1969. Jo worked at Seguin Walmart in the Connection Center.

Jo is survived by her Father, Dewey (Geneva) Merriman of Blanco, her Mother Elwanda Merriman of Kenedy; Her Children, Andrea (Greg) Bell of New Wavery, Katie (Brannon) Hutcherson of Victoria, and Kevin Austin of Atlanta, GA; Her Sister, Janet (Ed) Monson and Brother, Ward (Patsy) Merriman of Denton; Grandchildren, Shelby Wiede, Paul Lorrain and Carleigh Jo Hutcherson and several nieces and nephews. Jo was preceded in death by her brother, Weldon Merriman.

During Jo’s brief battle with cancer, she taught us the true meaning of courage. She was our constant streghth and comfort with her smile and “thumbs up” no matter how she felt.

Visitation will be 5:00- 7:00pm Sunday and Services at 1:00pm Monday at Eckols Funeral Home in Kendy, TX with graveside service following at Elim Cemetery, West of Kenedy.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a Charity of your choice.
