Teodoro Alvarez, Sr.

Teodoro Alvarez, Sr., 89, of Kenedy, Texas passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 27, 2013, in the Bluebonnet Nursing ad Rehab Center in Karnes City, Texas. Teodoro was born, April 8, 1924 in Karnes City, the son of Simon Alvarez and Adelia Nuniez Alvarez.

Teodoro is survived by his beloved wife of over 64 years, Lillie Jannsen Alvarez of Kenedy; his daughters, Frances Alvear and husband Solio of League City and Oralia Moreno and husband Benito of Beeville; his sons, Alfredo Alvarez, Jr., and wife Adelfa of Pawnee, Ernesto Alvarez and wife Veronica of Floresville and Teodoro Alvarez, Jr., of Kenedy; his sisters, Minnie Horton and Ester Casanova, both of Kenedy; his 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Alvarez is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ernestimo Alvarez and his sister, Manuela Salas.

Visiation was held, Monday, April 29, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel and a rosary was recited, Monday at 7:00 P.M., in the chapel. Funeral mass was celebrated, 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 29, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Leon Rubaj. Interment followed in the Loma Alta Cemetery.

Martin Puente, Sr.

Martin Puente, Sr., a lifelong resident of Kenedy, Texas, entered eternal rest, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 6:50 P.M., in the Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital in Kenedy, Texas at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 14 days.

Martin was born November 11, 1926, the son of Arnulfo Puente and Saragosa Vasquez Puente. He attended Kenedy Schools and was a very skilled carpenter. On September 29, 1946, Martin married Eleanor Padron in Kenedy, Texas.  

Martin is survived by his daughter, Rosa Linda Graham and husband Donald of Houston and Gloria Dow and husband Bill of Montgomery; his son, Martin Puente, Jr., and wife Suzzanne of New Braunfels; his sisters, Fannie Lopez, Tila Solis and husband Ralph and Maria Elizondo and his brother, Gilbert Puente and wife Gloria. Martin is also survived by his grandchildren and his 3 great-grandchildren. Mr. Padron is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Eleanor Padron Puente, his parents and 4 brothers.

Visiation was held, Sunday, April 28, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel and a rosary was recited, Sunday at 7:00 P.M., in the chapel. Funeral mass was celebrated, 11:00 A.M., Monday, 29, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Leon Rubaj officiating. Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Martin’s grandchildren, Orlando Gonzales, Raquel Gonzales, Kelly Puente, Amy Puente, Esteban Puente, Teresa Blancas and David Graham. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Gilbert Puente and Leo Rodriguez.

Rosa Morales Garcia

Rosa Morales Garcia, a resident of Kenedy, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Buda, Texas at the age of 92 years.

Rosa was born, November 13, 1920 in Victoria, Texas the daughter of Calistro Morales and Juliana Morales. After school, Rosa worked for Dr. Quillian and Dr. Mils in Kenedy. In 1953, Rosa married Mercedes Garcia, Sr., in the St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, Texas.

Rosa is survived by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Mercedes Garcia, Sr., of Buda; her daughter, JoAnn Barrandey and husband Louis of Midland; her son, Benjamin Lee Garcia and wife Barbara of Buda and her grandchildren, Erick Barrandey of Fort Worth, JohnPaul Barrandey of Lubbock, Jared Barrandy of Midland and Bradford Garcia and Bernadette Garcia of Buda. Mrs. Garcia is preceded in death by her parents; her one sister and four brothers.

Visitation was held, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel and a rosary was recited at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Funeral mass was celebrated at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. Leon Rubaj officiating. Interment followed in the Loma Alta Cemetery, Kenedy, Texas.

Pearl Bingham Alley

Pearl Bingham Alley, a former resident of Kenedy and Victoria, Texas, passed away, Friday, April 12, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 26 days. Pearl was born, September 17, 1927, in DeWitt County the daughter of Will Shock and Nancy DuBose Shock.

She is survived by her daughters, Janeane Quarles and husband Jackie, Kathy Schneider and Judy Van Zant and husband Robert; her sons, Dwight Bingham and Brian Bingham; her sister, Ruby Honeycutt and her 13 grandchildren. Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, Will and Nancy Shock.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 15, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with T.J. Burris officiating. Interment followed in the Kenedy Cemetery.

Herminia Longoria Martinez

Herminia Longoria Martinez, a longtime resident of Runge, Texas, entered into enteral rest, Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the Karnes City Health and Rehab Center in Karnes City at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 17 days.

Herminia was born in Gillette, Texas, the daughter of Jose Longoria and Adelfina De Bosque Longoria. She married, Ramon H. Martinez in Beeville, Texas. Herminia was of the Catholic faith and a devoted and loving wife, mother and homemaker.

Herminia is survived by her daughters, Ramona L. Wheeler and Sara M. Garcia and husband Lorenzo, both of Runge; her sons, Ponciano L. Martinez of San Antonio, Moses L. Martinez of Runge, Joshue L. Martinez of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Gary Martinez; her sisters, Mary Thomsa and Eva Alvarado, both of Waxahachie and numerous nieces and nephews. Ms. Martinez is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ramon; her son, Malachi Martinez and her brother, Inez Martinez.

Visiation was held, Monday, April 15, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy, and rosary was recited at 7:00 P.M., Monday also in the funeral home chapel. Funeral mass was celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Runge with Rev. Leon Rubaj officiating. Interment followed in the Runge Catholic Cemetery.

Frankie Vincent Kotzur

Frankie Vincent Kotzur, a former resident of Karnes City, Texas, passed away surrounded by his family, Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 12:45 P.M., in the Metropolitan Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 13 days. Frankie was born, April 29, 1953 in Karnes City, Texas, the son of Elias Kotzur, Sr., and Eugenia Sczepanik Kotzur.

Frankie is survived by his sisters, Betty Jean Dragon of Panna Maria, Irene McGovern and husband Terry of Kenedy, Helen Micks and husband Gerald of Alvin, Margaret Kotzur of Karnes City and Barbara Kotzur also of Karnes City; his brothers, Elias Kotzur, Jr., Johnny Kotzur and wife Janie and Archie Kotzur and wife Pat all of Kenedy. Frankie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Kotzur is preceded in death by his parents, Elias Sr., and Eugenia Kotzur 

Visitation was held, Sunday, April 14, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel and a rosary was recited, Sunday at 7:00 P.M., in the funeral home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, Texas, with Rev. Stanislaw Marciniak officiating. Interment followed in the Cestohowa Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Leroy Kotzur, Jay Kotzur, Glenn Kotzur, David Kotzur, Brian Castillo and Anthony A. Salinas. Nicholas “Nick” Timothy Jacques

Nicholas “Nick” Timothy Jacques, a lifelong resident of Kenedy, Texas, died, Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at his residence in Kenedy, at the age of 21 years.

Nick was born January 23, 1992 and raised in Kenedy, the son of Frank Guerra and Jacqueline Jacques. He attended Kenedy schools and graduated A.C. Jones High School in Beeville, Class of 2010. After graduating, Nick began working as a pipeline fabricator. He enjoyed going out, spending time with his friends and was of the Christian faith.

Nick is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Jacques and Robert; his father, Frank Guerra; his wife, Roxanne Guzman; his maternal grandparents, Faustino and Janie Jacques; his paternal grandmother, Juanita Dominquez; his sisters, Jestine Hinojosa, Autumn Hinojosa and Miranda Villarreal; his aunts and uncles, Patricia and Jerry Castillo, Johnny and Stacie Jacques, Teresa Jacques and J.J. Jacques and numerous cousins and a host of friends. He is preceded in death his paternal grandfather, Harold Guerra.

Visitation was held from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M., Friday, April 12, 2013, in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel in Kenedy, Texas. Funeral services were held, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following in the Kenedy Cemetery. JESUS “JESSE” LOPEZ RODRIGUEZ

Jesus “Jesse” Lopez Rodriguez, a lifelong resident of Kenedy, Texas, entered into eternal rest, Saturday, April 6, 2013, in Bee County, Texas, at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 24 days.

Jesse was born December 13, 1946, in Kenedy, Texas, to Pedro Rodriguez and Pomposa Lopez Rodriguez. Jesse was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a truck driver for Stallion Oil Field Service Company. Mr. Rodriguez is preceded in death by his father Pedro Rodriguez, brothers, Paul Rodriguez and Edward “Cuche” Rodriguez.

NORA CANO RODRIGUEZ

Nora Cano Rodriguez, a lifelong resident of Kenedy, Texas, entered into eternal rest, Sunday, April 7, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 10 days.

Nora was born April 28, 1953, in Karnes City, Texas, to Jose Cano, Sr., and Lena Garza Cano. Nora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Mrs. Rodriguez is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 44 years, Jesse; her father, Jose Cano, Sr., her sister, Eva Casarez and her brother, Romeo Cano, Sr.

Jesse and Nora married January 16, 1969 in Kenedy, Texas. From this union came four loving children. Jesse and Nora were active members of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kenedy, Texas.

Jesse and Nora are survived by their daughters, Cecilia Hartsfield and husband Randall of Kenedy, Erica Rodriguez and Rebecca Rodriguez, both of San Antonio; their son, Jesus “Jesse” Rodriguez, Jr., and Mary Ann Gonzales of San Antonio; and their 6 loving grandchildren. Jesse is also survived by his mother, Pomposa Lopez Rodriguez, his sisters, Mary DeSalme and Cynthia Valderrama and his brothers, Pedro “Pete” Rodriguez, Lucio Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez and Pedro “Pete” Rodriguez. Nora is also survived by her mother, Lena Garza Cano; her sisters, Elma Cortez, Nancy Mooney and Dora Saenz and her brothers, Jose Cano, Jr. and Roy Cano.

Interment followed in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, Texas.

Frank G. Aguirre, III

Frank G. Aguirre, III, a lifelong resident of Karnes County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a hard fought battle, Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 9:00 P.M., in his residence in Kenedy, Texas at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 13 days.

Frank was born, January 22, 1944 in Karnes City, Texas, the son of Francisco Aguirre and Herlinda Garza Aguirre. On September 19, 1964, Frank married the love of his life, Josie Rodriguez in Karnes City, Texas. Frank and Josie were both active and devoted members of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kenedy. Josie preceded Frank in death after 47 years of marriage.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Delia Serna and husband Rene of Beaumont; his grandsons, Michael F., Mark R., and Matthew A. Serna all of Beaumont; his sisters, Yolanda Garcia, Carolyn and Selema Gonzalez; his brothers, Alfredo, Aldolfo “Duffy”, Robert, Gilbert and Samuel Aguirre; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Mr. Aguirre is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Herlinda Aguirre.

Visitation was held, Sunday, April 7, 2013, in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, in Kenedy and a rosary was recited at 7:30 P.M., Sunday, in the Eckols Chapel. Funeral mass was celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 8, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kenedy with Rev. Norbert Herman officiating. Interment followed in the Kenedy Cemetery with, Michael Serna, Mark Serna, Matthew Serna, Sammy Aguirre, Robert Aguirre, Armando Aguirre, Joe Marin ad Jimmy Valadez serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Alfredo Aguirre, Sr., Gilbert Aguirre, Sr., and Duffy Aguirre.

Lloyd Raymond Rice

Lloyd Raymond Rice, passed away, Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 10:00 A.M., in the Woodridge Nursing Home in Beeville, Texas at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 15 days.

Lloyd was born, July 20, 1925, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Jake Raymond Rice and Lorene Gorman Rice. Mr. Rice joined the United States Army on November 18, 1943 and proudly served his country in World War II in Iowa Jima.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Cherry Lynn Rice Wahl of Austin; his son, Morris Rice and wife Valerie of Bergheim, Texas; his caregiver, Elma Cortez of Kenedy; his step-daughter, Effie; his sister, Loycene Baker of Kenedy; his brother, Jake William Rice of Stockdale; his grandchildren, Jacob Long and wife Jennifer, Tracey Ann Rice and Ben David Jackson and wife Monique Ann; his great-grandchildren, Avery Nichole Gleason, Kaitlynn Michelle Taylor, Alexander Jacob Gleason and Grady Layne Jackson and his former wives, Oleta Mae Ocheltree Rice and Angela Rice.  Mr. Rice is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Charles Gorman and his granddaughter, Stacie Michelle Taylor.

Graveside services were held, Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 12:00 Noon, in the Choate Cemetery officiated by Rev. Larry Odem.
