Kenneth Leroy Jones, Jr.

Kenneth Leroy Jones, Jr., Age 64 of Victoria, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX passed away in Victoria on October 26, 2020. Kenneth was born on April 4, 1956 in New Braunfels, TX to the late Kenneth Leroy, Sr and Ethel Hierholzer Jones. He married Mellani Atkinson on June 14, 1974 in Karnes City, TX; was the neighborhood handyman who never said no to anyone; loved to fish, ride his motorcycle, loved his family very much and was of the Baptist Faith.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Leroy, Sr. and Ethel Hierholzer Jones.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Mellani Atkinson Jones of Victoria; sons, Kenneth L. Jones, III and wife Jerrie Jones of Austin, Patrick Craig Jones and wife Lisa of Karnes City; grandsons, Coby Jones and wife Sonjah, Aaron Trevino and wife Hannah; granddaughter, Chelsea Jones; great-grandson, Karson Jones; great-granddaughter, Libby Jones and a host of family members.

Family Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 10AM to 12PM in the Eckols Chapel with Services beginning at 12PM in the Eckols Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Corporon officiating. Interment will follow in the Choate Cemetery in Choate, TX.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Len Custer, III, Lee Denney, Aaron Trevino, Brian Boelter, Charles Miller, Fernando Hernandez and Wesley Wright.

Rosie R. Salinas

Rosie R. Salinas of Rosie’s Flower Shop in Kenedy, Texas was born on July 25, 1934 in Pearsall, Texas and raised by Rosendo Botello and Amelia Domingo Botello passed away on October 20, 2020 at the age of 86. Rosie with her husband Presiliano “Pres” owned and operated Rosie’s Flower Shop; but their biggest joy was raising their children. She was preceded in death by her husband after 55 years of marriage. Survivors include her sons: Norman (Gennie) Salinas of Corpus Christi, Texas, Presiliano (Diane) Salinas Jr. of Hutto, TX, Seferin C. Salinas of Seguin, TX and Ray Allen (Martha) Rossett, of Kenedy, TX; sister: Oralia Menchaca of Pasco, WA; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 3:00p.m. at Loma Alta Cemetery. Procession to leave funeral home at 2:30p.m. in honor of all she did for our community. Pallbearers: Seferino Salinas Jr., Diego Salinas, Stephen Salinas, Ryan Salinas, Aaron Rossett, and J.T. Altamirano. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Ester C. Gonzales (Ciccy)

Ester C. Gonzales (Ciccy) passed peacefully surrounded by family on October 16, 2020 at the age of 61. Ciccy was born on July 19, 1959 to Rafael Garibay and Odelia D. Garibay (Lilly). Ciccy was born in Karnes City, Texas and resided in Pawnee, Texas and Eugene, Oregon. Ciccy was the eldest of 3 children, and found her calling in education, where she dedicated over 35 years of her life investing in children’s future.

Ciccy was proceeded in death by grandparents Guadalupe Deleon, Soledad Deleon; mother Odelia D. Garibay; brother in law Juan F. Salinas. She is survived by her brother Louis (Aimee) Garibay, and sister Terry Salinas, and nieces and nephews Caitlin Garibay, Madeline (Isaul) Ramos, Cody Garibay, Lindsay Garibay, Garrett Garibay, Mary Kay (Richard) Lopez, Victoria (Gabriel) Gutierrez, Andrea Salinas, John Louis (Katelyn) Salinas and many great nieces and nephews.

Family Visitation will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 9AM to 11AM with A Celebration of Life Service at 11AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Berthold officiating.

Maria Lourdes “LuLu” Janssen

Maria Lourdes “LuLu” Janssen, Age 93 of Kenedy, TX formerly of San Antonio, TX passed away on October 14, 2020. Maria was born on February 22, 1927 in Monterey Nuevo Leon, Mexico to the late Avilio Macotte and Socorro Rodriguez Sepulveda. Maria moved to the United States in 1960; she married George R. Janssen on Dec. 6, 1974 in San Antonio, TX; became a citizen on October 24, 1985; retired from Julian Gold as their seamstress in the mid 70’s and moved to Kenedy when her husband retired in 2000. Maria excelled in embroidery, knitting, and painting of all sorts from Texas Bluebonnets to Diego Rivera and his wife Freida, farm tractors, the Light houses of Padre Island and etc. She was a loving wife, aunt, sister, friend to many and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, George R. Jannsen; parents, Avilio Macotte and Socorro Rodriguez Sepulveda; sister Socorro Martinez; and brother, Avilio Rodriguez Sepulveda, Jr.

Maria is survived by her nieces and nephews, Lillie Alvarez and husband Teodoro, Sr., Feliciana Janssen and husband Henry, Sr., Teodoro Alvarez, Jr., Alfredo Alvarez and wife Adelfa, Soilo Alvear and wife Frances, Oralia Moreno, Ernest Alvarez, Avilio Sepulveda, Alejandro Sepulveda, Barbara Sepulveda, Mary Colyer; brother in laws, Ricardo Protesek, Lucia and Blanco Protesek and a host of cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 10AM to 11AM with a Rosary beginning at 11AM and Services at 11:30 AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

 

Robert “Bobby” Eugene Eggensperger

Robert “Bobby” Eugene Eggensperger of Kenedy, Texas was born on June 15, 1970 in Memphis, TN to Dennis Dale Eggensperger and Barbara Marie Burgfield Eggensperger passed away on October 10, 2020 at the age of 50. Bobby is survived by his father: Dennis Dale Eggensperger; his twin sister: Rebecca Bryant of Yorktown, TX; and several other sisters and brothers and other relatives. His family will be having a Celebration of Life Service at their residence  a later date. We will post the service information day and time as soon as it  becomes available.

Ricardo Reyna Jr.

Ricardo Reyna Jr. of Kenedy, Texas was born on September 12, 1971 in Yorktown, Texas passed away on October 7, 2020 at the age of 49 in San Antonio, TX. Ricardo is preceded in death by his father: Ricardo Reyna. He is survived his mother:  Sanaida (Jose) Garcia of Kenedy,TX ; by his daughter: Ashley Reyna (Gary) Everson of Newark, Ohio, his son: Jimmy Bahnsen-Reyna of Newark, Ohio; his former spouse: Amy Bahnsen Collier; his sisters: Emily (Mario) Alaniz of Corpus Christi, TX and Leonor (Henry) Guerra, of Kenedy, TX; brothers: Thomas Reyna, Albert (Sophia) Garcia of Kenedy, TX, and Hector (Irma) Garcia of Runge, TX; nieces and nephews and great uncle to : Adryana Barkley, Samantha Espinoza, Paloma Espinoza, Gabriel Espinoza, Matthew Espinoza, Saragosa J.R. Alaniz, Lila Guerra, Lillian Guerra, Lauren Guerra, Destynee Hernandez, Draeden Reyna, Aaliyah Reyna, Gabriella Reyna, Nicolas Reyna, Amadeus Garcia and Asael Garcia; and other relatives.Visitation Hours will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 from 12:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers: Thomas Reyna, Hector Garcia, Albert Garcia, Martin Barrera Jr., Daniel O’Balle and Chris Starks. Ricardo will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Kirby Rogers

On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Kirby Rogers, loving father of 3 children, passed away at age 56.  Kirby was born March 19, 1964, in Kenedy, Texas to Kenneth and Annadel Rogers.  He is preceded in death by his parents.  Kirby is survived by his 3 children, Kendel, Kaylee, and Jack who he dearly loved, his brother Kirk (Pam) Rogers of Haslet Texas, sister Karissa (Patrick) Jarzombek of Falls City Texas, Sallie (Roy) Erwin of Kyote Texas and many nieces, nephews, cousins.  He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin and worked for GTE, Verizon, and various other mergers.  Kirby loved spending his Saturday afternoons watching Longhorn football, working in his garden or supporting his children in their endeavors. He loved his family, being outdoors, and making people smile. His goofy smile, compassionate personality, and generous spirit will be deeply missed.  A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by The Holy Rosary on Monday, October 5th, 2020 at Eckosl Funeral Home Chapel in Kenedy, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 6,2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kenedy, Texas. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, TX with a reception to follow in the Falls City Diner in Falls City, TX.

Marsha Jean Brown Alvear

Marsha Jean Brown Alvear, Age 41 of Kenedy, TX passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Kenedy, TX. Marsha was born on July 5, 1979 in Floresville, TX to Morris, Sr. and Melody Brown. She attended and graduated from Kenedy High School, married Anthony Alvear on February 24, 2006, was a Secretary for Brown Automotive Body Shop, and a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

She is preceded in death by Grandparents, Cecil and Betty Brown; Step-Grandfather, Wayne Krause; Uncle, Jerry Brown; cousin’s, Jimmy “PeeWee” Bingham, III, and Henry Henkes, Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Manuel Alvear of Karnes City; parents, Morris, Sr. and Melody Brown of Kenedy; daughter, Melody Faith Alvear of Karnes City; sisters, Molly and Jason Parks of Kenedy, Betty and Chris Johnson of Kenedy; brothers, Morris, Jr. and Alexa Brown of Kenedy, Connor Brown of Kenedy; father and mother in law Noberto and Hope Alvear of Kenedy; sister-in-laws, Debra Lee Alvear of Kenedy, Viviana and Frank Vera of Karnes City, Norma Molina and Jim Lott, III of Karnes City; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michelle Hinojosa officiating.
