David Arnold Dollase

David Arnold Dollase, 75, of Beeville, Texas passed away at his home on April 28, 2022.  His wife Cheryl was at his side.

David was born in Galveston, Texas on December 28, 1946, to Arnold C. and Sue R. Dollase.  He graduated from Pettus High School and soon thereafter joined the U.S. Air Force.  After basic training and focused training to be an Air Traffic Control Operator, he was assigned to Randolph AFB and then to Da Nang, Republic of South Vietnam, as his last duty station.  Soon after his return to Texas, he married Cheryl Ann Rayburn of Kenedy.  They were blessed with a son David Jason.

During their fifty-two years of marriage, they lived in several towns in Texas and Colorado.  David and Cheryl owned and operated Central Claim Service in Beeville for thirty-eight years.

David is survived by his wife Cheryl of Beeville, son David Jason and two grandsons, Cade Walker and Reid Parker of Kansas City, MO, brother Edward (Vera) of Georgetown, their children Mark, Indianapolis, IN and Tina, Colorado Spgs., CO, and brother Arnold of Castroville. In addition, in-laws Brad and Dorothy Jean Yeater of Kenedy and their daughters Dori and Kelsey of Austin, and Chip and Trina Rayburn of Corpus Christi and sons Chase (Shelby) and family of Cypress, and Matthew of Houston.

Cremation has occurred and Graveside Services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2P.M. in the Kenedy Cemetery, adjacent to his parents in Kenedy, TX.  In lieu of flowers, any memorials are requested to be given to a charity of your choice.

James Howard Daniel Sr.

James Howard Daniel Sr. ,87, of Martindale, Texas formerly of San Antonio, Texas passed away on April 25, 2022.

Jim was born in Roby, Texas to James H. Daniel and Hannah Gruben Daniel and was the fourth born out of five. He had three older sisters and one younger. He moved to San Antonio when he was 7.  He graduated from Burbank High School and served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. He attended San Antonio College.

He started working during high school for TriWay Printing and Mailing and went back there once he left the Army.  In 1975, he left TriWay and started his own company called Advanced Printing and Mailing Service. Later he acquired General Business Machine Service and combined the companies to become General Printing and Mailing Equipment. He retired around 2000. Jim was an ordained Deacon and member of Gideon’s International. He held several positions in the church and loved working with youth.

Jim loved the Texas Water Safari! He was a team captain for his son, Jay for a few years and continued to follow the race annually until he was no longer able and was known for his “Red Book” containing river maps and time estimates. He worked endless hours building canoe prototypes and built the mold for the record holding boat.

He loved taking his grandchildren out in the motorhome and enjoying the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents: James H. Daniel and Hannah Gruben Daniel; three older sisters and their spouses: Iva Mae Wilkins (Edmund), Lucille Pearce (Philo), Nathalia Russell (Ferrell); and his younger sister: Carlita Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Betty Bruton Daniel; son and daughter-in-law: J H Daniel, Jr. “Jay” and Kristin; daughter: Kathleen Daniel and fiance, Mike Thomas; grandchildren: Kyle Wayne Hartmann (Tessa), Brandon James Hartmann, and Kassy Renee’ Daniel; great grandson: Jack Aaron Brooks Banegas; and brother-in-law: Edward Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 22 at 12:00Noon at Eckols Chapel with Funeral Services beginning promptly at 1:30p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Jim Graham officiating. Interment in Kenedy Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels or the First Baptist Church Televison Ministry, San Antonio, Texas.

Jeanne J. Best

Jeanne Claire Jimerson Best of Victoria, Texas was born on April 26,1934 in Choate, Texas to Richard Wiley Jimerson and Delsie Baker Jimerson. Our beloved mother, grandmother (Gigi), and friend to all went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 22,2022 at the age of 87.

Jeanne was full of life, love and laughter. Her family always came first and her friends weren’t too far behind. She loved her time in Port Aransas. She was known as the life of the party and brought a smile to everyone with her infectious laughter. Jeanne loved decorating, hunting with Bob, watching hummingbirds, and traveling. One of her favorite things was spending the holidays with family, especially Christmas.

She is preceded in death by her son: Don O. Harvey III and husband John (Bob) Boyd Best.

She is survived by her children: Linda Woods and John (Janice) Harvey; stepdaughters: Carol (Jim) Calvert, and Maggie (Rick) Malek; grandchildren: Julie (Doug) Mumfrey, George (Sara) Grimes, Heather (Mario) Guerra, Brian (Ashley) Harvey, Zachary, Jacob, and Sydney Harvey, Kelly (Daniel) Hoelscher and Amy (Lucas) Thomas; and all her beloved great grandchildren; her siblings: JoEllen Schuenemann, Jerald (Julie) Jimerson, Thomas (Linda) Jimerson and Jan Lake.

Jeanne was blessed to have an outstanding group of caregivers. Special thanks to her long-time friend and caregiver, Linda Barnes.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Rumalda G. Cruz

Rumalda G. Cruz, Age 92 of Kenedy, TX passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Karnes City, TX.  Rumalda was born on February 7, 1930 in Kenedy to the late Gregorio and Julia Garza Guzman.  She married Isabel M. Cruz, Sr. on January 22, 1951 in Kenedy, TX; was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, homemaker and a devout member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Isabel M. Cruz, Sr.; sisters, Lucia Janssen, Amelia Paredes, Josefina Gonzalez, Maria Escobedo; brothers, Emilio Guzman, Felix Guzman, and Juan Guzman.  She is survived by her daughters, Delia Villanueva and husband Ruben of Pittsburg, TX, Norma Cruz and Greg Rivas of Kenedy, Julie Torres and husband Rudy of Kenedy; sons, Trini Cruz and wife Rita of San Antonio, TX, Isabel Cruz, Jr. of Kenedy, TX, Gregorio Cruz of Victoria, TX, Henry Cruz and wife Diana of Karnes City, TX, Chris Cruz and wife Sandra of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Heriberto Guzman of Kenedy, TX, Jose Guzman of Des Moines, IA; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.  Family Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Rosita Puentes

Rosita Puentes of Beeville, Texas was born on February 20, 1973 in Goliad, Texas to the late Valentine Puente and to  Juanita Cantu Puentes passed away on  Wednesday, April 13,2022  surrounded by family at the age of 49 years old at Hacienda Oaks Nursing Home in Beeville.

Rosita had worked for GEO for over 32 years.

She is preceded in death by her father: Valentine Puentes.

She is survived by her mother: Juanita Puentes; her common-law spouse: Ruben Rodriguez of Beeville, TX; sisters: Juanita Puentes, Leandra Puentes, and Mary Ann Puentes; brother Valentine (Josephine) Puentes of Kenedy, TX; sister-in-law: Jennifer Rodriguez and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 3:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel.

A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Priscilla De Los Santos officiating. Services to conclude in chapel.

It was Rosita wishes to be cremated and her cremated remains to be placed at the foot of her fathers grave. Private inurnment at a later date.

John B. Greve

John B. Greve of Kenedy, Texas was born on August 22, 1946 in Salem, Illinois to Charlton Greve and Audine Bachman Greve passed away on April 10, 2022 at the age of 75. Mr. Greve was a member of the Kenedy Rotary Club, Kenedy Lions Club, Boy Scout Leader, Kenedy Library Board and member of M.E.N.S.A. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Robert Greve. Survivors include his wife of 51 years: Diane N. Greve of Kenedy, Texas; his son: Scott (Jessica) Greve and their children: Aiden Saar and Riley Greve of San Antonio, TX and daughter: Jodi Greve of Fayetteville, AR; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 11:00a.m. at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 309 S. Fifth St., Kenedy, Texas 78119.

Ruby Nell Remmers

Ruby Nell Remmers of El Campo, Texas was born on June 17, 1933 in Arneckville, Texas to Fe Allen Schultz and Edna Landgrebe Schultz went into eternal rest on April 9, 2022 at the age of 88. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter-in-law, Tara Remmers and her husband, Milton “Slim” Remmers who passed on Feb. 7, 2016. She was a member of the St. Paul’s  Lutheran Church in Runge, Texas. She is survived by her daughter: Janice (Jerry) Winter of El Campo, TX; her sons Milton (Vicky) Remmers Jr. of Port Lavaca, TX, Kerry (Pam) Remmers of Nordheim, TX and Allen Remmers of Pleasanton, TX; three half sisters: Dorothy Haufler of Corpus Christi, TX, Annie (Edwin) Obst of Alamo, TX and Bernice Sampson of Portland, TX; two half brothers: Robert (Jan) Schultz of Woodsboro, TX and Allen (Joyce) Schultz of Woodsboro, TX; 8 grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great Great Grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews  and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 10:00a.m. at St.  Paul’s Lutheran Church, 409 N. Wilbern St., Runge, Texas 78151 with Rev. Randy Bruno officiating. Romney Alexandria Sample

Romney Alexandria Sample (Sczepanik) entered into eternal rest on April 4,2022 at the age of 54 (just one week shy of her birthday) in Hondo, Texas. She was born on April 11, 1967, in Floresville, Texas, to Lailey and Ignatz “Pete” Sczepanik of Panna Maria, Texas.

She married Christopher Sobieski in 1988 and they lived in Europe. He joined the Sherriff’s Department when he got out of the service. Sadly, he was killed by a drunk driver. When this happened, she became very active in the M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving Organization). God had a plan for her: however, as she met and married the love of her life, Derek Sample on May 25, 2009. He made her immensely happy.

Romney had many interests, one she enjoyed from a young age, was caring for and loving all animals, especially horses. She fostered neglected and abused horses. She also enjoyed gardening and had a fantastic green thumb. She could put anything in the ground and it would grow and thrive.

She was a born caregiver, and through the years, shared her home with numerous foreign exchange students from all over the world. Many of these girls stayed in touch with her throughout the years. Romney was a devoted wife and rancher.

She was preceded in death by her father: Ignatz “Pete” Scezpanik; her first husband: Christopher Sobieski and dear life-long friend: Cecil Dean.

She is survived by her devoted husband: Derek Sample; son: Rustyn (Kristina) Sample, daughter: Stephanie Mcelhatten; mother: Lailey Sczepanik; siblings: Eric Szczepanik, Duncan (Clare) Sczepanik, Kirk (Tina) Sczepanik, Seth Sczepanik, Tobin Sczepanik, Darcy (Jeff) Seaton, Katya Sczepanik, Emily (Joseph) Brysch, and Alexis (Cameron) Irvine: grandchildren: Tristyn Sample and Audry Sample; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. for Everyone at Eckols Chapel. (No Services will be held on Palm Sunday, April 10,2022).
