Ronald Slane

Ronald “Wade” Slane, of Kenedy, Texas was born on September 14, 1943 in Hillemann, Arkansas to Bessie Daniel Slane and Beecher Slane passed away on July 29, 2020 at the age of 76. Mr. Slane retired from Shell Oil Company on October 31, 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Elsie Connor and brother J.L. Slane. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Ford Slane of Kenedy,TX; his daughter: Dyvonne “DeeDee” Orsak (Dave) of Lake Charles,LA, grandchildren: Shannan Wallack, Kye Maddox, KayCee Orsak, Blake Orsak; 4 great grandchildren: Braden, Avery, Owen, Wyatt; brother: Larry (Carolyn) Slane, of Elizabeth, AR; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Eckols Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 3:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Interment to follow in the Kenedy Cemetery. Pallbearers: Rob Underbrink, Kye Maddox, Dave Orsak, Pat Tam, Patrick Tam and Kevin Tam. If attending-please  wear your face mask into funeral home and into chapel-(No Exceptions!)- Practice the Social Distancing Rule- no gathering (congregating) will be allowed to keep you safe and most especially the  family at this vulnerable time. Guadalupe Meza Nunez

Guadalupe Meza Nunez, of Pasadena, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX was born in Kenedy,TX to Piedad Nunez and Maria Meza Nunez passed away on July 24, 2020 in Houston, TX at the age of 71. Mr. Nunez was a carpenter for Brochsteins, Inc. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter: Erica (Mbarek) Essadeq of Houston, TX, son: Guadalupe M. Nunez Jr. of Pasadena, TX; 7 grandchildren: Hassan, Hasna, Ali, Brittany, Alexis, Jason and Jimmy; 5 great grandchildren: Roxanne, Jason Jr., Justin, Jamie Lynn and Jimmy Jr.; stepson: Juan “Johnny” Madrigal of Pasadena, TX; sisters: Eva Nunez and Antonia Gutierrez; brother: Francisco “Pancho” Gutierrez of Runge, TX; former spouse: Ida Madrigal Moreno of Pasadena, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2020 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery with U.S. Army Honors. William Travis Froh

William Travis Froh, known to most as Bill Froh, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of July 27th, 2020. Bill Froh was born William Travis Ratcliff on August 17, 1958 in Midland, Texas to his biological parents Janell and John Ratcliff. His parents soon divorced and his mother returned home to Luling where she married her high school sweetheart Walter Slater. At age 6, while his step father was a sea with the U.S. Navy, Janell became to ill to care for Bill. However, he was fortunate to be welcomed into his forever family in 1964 when he was adopted by Riley and Mary Froh shortly after they married.

Bill was intelligent and quick witted. He had love of music and singing and possessed  perfect pitch. As a child, he loved to be read to and developed a deep love and fascination with the old west. He enjoyed any and all things cowboy related and had a special fondness for the lore of Billy the Kid. As all cowboys do, Bill had a special attachment to his cowboy hat and was happiest when he had it on.

Bill was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Inez Griffin, his mother Janell Slater, and step-father Walter Slater. He is survived by his loving parents Riley and Mary Froh of Luling; his brother Noble (Camille) Froh of Harwood; his nephews and niece: Jacob, Cooper, Tyler and Emma Froh; as well as the many loving and caring staff member of Kenedy Health and Rehabilitation Center who cared for him like family in his final years, especially his champion Sandra DeLaGarza.

Graveside services will be held at the Luling Cemetery, Luling, TX at 11:00a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020.

Otto Ray Pundt

Otto Ray Pundt, age 88,born  in Floresville, TX on January 18, 1932 passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2020 in San Antonio,TX of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene Kolinek Pundt on July 24, 2019.  He is survived by his son: Ronnie Pundt; his daughter-in-law: Louann Pundt; his grandson: Joseph Ray Pundt of San Antonio; and his great granddaughter: Kaitlyn Dermit of Victoria, TX. He served his country in the Korean War and worked for over 35 years at the Point Comfort Alcoa Alum Plant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Karnes County SPCA. Inurnment to be scheduled at a later date.

Paul Leo Harrington

Paul Leo Harrington, of Kenedy, Texas born on March 27, 1955 in Passaic, N.J. passed away on July 22, 2020 at the age of 65. Mr. Harrington was retired attorney, appointed as a Supreme Court Attorney and worked for the Postal Regulatory Commission. He is survived by his wife: Therese Pantazakos-Harrington of Kenedy; his brothers: Jack, Dennis and Jim Harrington all of N.J.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 31, 2020 at 2:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel led by Larry Novak.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: A.A. c/o A.A. Financial Officer, P.O. Ralph Wilford Alexander

Ralph Wilford Alexander, Age 86, of Runge, TX born on December 29, 1933 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Walter and Ethel Alexander passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte in May of 2015. He is survived by his daughter: Kellie-Sue Alexander; son: Robert Alexander; grandchildren: Jesse Alexander , Richard Alexander; great grandchildren: Zechariah, Elijah Alexander, Anthony Alexander, Cassidy Alexander, Alisha Fowler; brothers: Chuck and Richard Alexander; and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Services to conclude in chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Karnes County Humane Society.

Jose D. Aguero

Jose D. Aguero of Kenedy, Texas born on November 14, 1951 in Kenedy, Texas to Frank Aguero and Amelia Davila Aguero passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the age of 68. Mr. Aguero is survived by his common-law-spouse: Belia Martinez of Kenedy, TX ; daughters: Melissa Aguero of Kenedy, TX, and Jennifer (Chris) Cooper of San Antonio, TX; raised as his own: Ramiro Martinez(Kimberly Perez) of Poth, TX, Ronnie (Christine Serenil) Martinez of Floresville, TX, Ray Martinez of Kenedy, TX, Roxanne Martinez; Grandchildren: Riva, Pauline, Ryan, Rueben James, Redrick Isaiah, Ian, Alexis, Allie, Matthew, Brian, Katelynn, Kylee, Mason, Ava and Mia; sisters and brother: Terry (Paul) Martinez, Albert (Sylvia) Aguero, Mary Lou Dunson and Nash Garcia; sister-in-law: Janie Martinez;  many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Due the current pandemic, and in consideration of everyone ‘s  health, the  immediate family will be having Private Visitation and Graveside services. Interment will take place  in the Loma Alta Cemetery.

Clara G. Duenes

Clara Gonzales Duenes, of Pawnee, TX born on September 26, 1958 to Lorenzo Gonzales Jr. and Oralia Martinez Gonzales passed away on July 4, 2020 at the age of 61. She was retired from the Pawnee I.S.D. after 20 plus years of service. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Juan Leonel Gonzales and Leonires Gonzales. She is survived by her husband of 44 years: Pedro G. Duenes Jr. of Pawnee, TX; mother: Oralia Martinez Gonzales; daughters: Valerie Duenes Hernandez, Pawnee, TX and Veronica (Anthony) Duenes Cruz of Karnes City,TX; 6 grandchildren: Jaslyn Asevedo, Lauren Cruz, Skylar Cruz, Isabel Hernandez, Carly Madison Cardenas, and Anthonly Joseph Cruz; sisters: Mary Ann Gutierrez of Kenedy, TX, Flora(Ignacio) Rodriguez, of McAllen, TX, Lydia Gonzales, of Austin, TX, Rebecca( Ramiro) Tapia, of Pawnee, TX, Sara Gonzales, of San Antonio, Sylvia Gonzales of San Antonio, TX, Brothers: Lorenzo Gonzales III of Beeville, TX, Leonel (Maggie) Gonzales, of Kenedy, TX and Luis Gonzales of Kenedy, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Guadalupe “Lupe” G. Garcia

Guadalupe “Lupe” G. Garcia, Age 69 of Kenedy, TX passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 in San Antonio, TX. Lupe was born on December 11, 1950 in Kenedy, TX. She retired from the US ARMY, was a loving Mother, Grandmother, a devout caregiver to many throughout the Karnes County community, a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Our Lady Queen of Peace Guadalupanas, a friend to many who will be greatly missed.  She is preceded in death by her mother Clemencia Garcia, and numerous brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Salais and husband Danny of Karnes City, TX, Nicole Garcia and Gabriel Flores of San Antonio; grandchildren, Isaac Salais of San Marcos, Faith Salais of San Marcos, Joshua Rodriguez of San Antonio, Nico Flores of San Antonio, Maddie Flores of San Antonio, also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 3, 2020 from 11A.M. to 1:30 P.M.; A Holy Rosary will be Recited at 1:30 P.M. with Services at 2:00 P.M. all in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Maria Vela officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.
