Jamason Daniel Barrientez

Jamason Daniel Barrientez, Age 3 of Kenedy, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, August 1, 2021.  Daniel was born on March 24, 2018 in Beeville, TX to James and Courtney Hinojosa Barrientez. Daniel was a loving son, brother who loved the minions and was of Christian faith.

Daniel is preceded in death by his Maternal Great-Grandfather, Dan Mejia and Paternal Great-grandparents, Ramon and Teresa Hinojosa.

Daniel is survived by his loving parents, James and Courtney Hinojosa Barrientez of Kenedy; sister, Aubrey Rose Ramirez of Kenedy; brothers, James Barrientez, Jr. of Kenedy, Bentley Ray Barrientez of Kenedy, Jonah Zayn Barrientez of Kenedy; Paternal Grandparents, Jerry and Mary Jane Barrientez of Kenedy, Maternal Grandparents, Mary Sue Rose of Floresville and Ramon Hinojosa of Kenedy; Maternal Great-Grandmother, Natalia Mejia of Kenedy; Aunts and Uncles, Jessica Salinas of Floresville, Shaina and Ladis Barrientez of Kenedy, Gingy and R.J. DeLeon of Kenedy, Isabel “Chevy” (Grant Sullivan) Barrientez of Kenedy, Robert “Cuatro” Salinas of Floresville, Jeremiah Barrientez of Kenedy, Jerome (Jessica) Barrientez of Kenedy, Jacob and Samantha Barrientez of Kenedy and numerous cousins, extended family members and friends.  A Prayer Service will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Hill, III officiating. Graveside Services will be Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Walter Hill, III officiating. Interment will be in the Loma Alta Cemetery.

Emma Hermis Donaubauer

Emma Hermis Donaubauer, Age 94, of Kenedy, TX passed away, Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in Kenedy, TX.  Emma was born on October 20, 1926 in Hobson, TX to the late Julius and Angeline Olsovesky Hermis.  Emma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend to many and a devout member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.   She is preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Donaubauer; parents, Julius and Angeline Olsovesky Hermis; sons, Andrew John and Harold John; sisters, Hermina Hermis, Christina Syring, and Marcine Dupnik.  She is survived by her sons, Charles Donaubauer and wife Gloria of Kenedy, Gilmer Donaubauer of Kenedy; grandchildren, Dawn Donaubauer of San Antonio, Angela Rodriguez and husband Joe of San Antonio, Melinda Eilers and husband John of Fredericksburg, Lee Ann Donaubauer-Rendon and husband Juan Carlo of Edinburg, Lindsy Morin and husband Ramon of Lakeside, CA, Thomas Donaubauer and wife Jennifer of Converse, 8 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way.  A Holy Rosary will be recited Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.   Serving as Pallbearers will be:  Thomas Donaubauer, Joe Rodriguez, John Eilers, Juan Carlo Rendon, David Dupnik and Matthew Gotthardt.

Meredean Elizabeth Shockome, of Karnes City, Texas was born on March 3, 1940 in Linden, Alabama to Dozier Bonner Hudson and Margaret Elizabeth Wilkinson Hudson passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at her residence surrounded by family at the age of 81. Meredean was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years: Tom LeRoy Shockome and her grandchildren: Anders and Tommy Shockome. She is survived by her sons: Tommy (Debra) Shockome of Kenedy,TX, Tim Shockome of Karnes City, TX and Sam (Frances) Shockome of Calallen, TX; grandchildren: Joseph Shockome, Whitney (Bryan) Thorsen, Catherine Shockome, Alex Shockome, Cynthia Shockome, Victoria Shockome, Great Grandchildren: Gabriel Shockome, Liam Thorsen and Eathan Thorsen; and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Graveside services to be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 9:30a.m. at New Bremen Cemetery with Rev. Robert R. Charles, Sr.

Robert R. Charles, Sr., Age 78 of Runge, TX passed away on July 20, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. Robert was born on August 12, 1942 in Runge, TX to the late Julio and Josephina Rodriguez Charles.  Robert was the Pastor of Church on the Rock in Pettus, TX, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many who will be greatly missed.  Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Josephina Rodriguez Charles; son, Rudy Charles; daughter Elena Charles; 3 sisters and 4 brothers.  Robert is survived by his loving wife Luzelida De Los Santos Charles of Runge; daughters, Donna Kay Rios of Runge; sons, Robert Lee Charles and wife Esther of Runge, Israel Charles and wife Sarah of Tuleta, Ricky Charles of Runge, Moses Charles and Wife Rebecca of Beeville; sister Lydia De Los Santos of Elmendorf numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of family members.  A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Heavenly Gates Family Worship Center at 7:00 PM.  Services will be Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Heavenly Gates Family Worship Center with the Rev. Robert Lee Charles officiating.  Interment will follow in the Runge Cemetery in Runge, TX.

Ray Dean Hinojosa, Age 45 of Kenedy, TX passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021.  Ray was born on July 30, 1975 in Beeville, TX to Reynaldo Hinojosa, Jr. and Alice Cano Saenz.  He was a contractor, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend to many who loved to hunt, fish, spend time with his family and was of the Catholic Faith.  Ray is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Lupe and Armida Cano; Paternal Grandfather, Reynaldo Hinojosa, Sr.; Aunt, Shirley Hinojosa; and Uncle Lupe Cano, Jr.  Ray is survived by his loving wife, Angie Naranjo Hinojosa of Kenedy, Mother, Alice (Felix) Saenz of Kenedy; Father, Reynaldo Hinojosa Jr. of Kenedy, daughters, Lindsey Allyson Hinojosa (Chris Pena) of Kenedy, Audriana Rae Hinojosa of Kenedy; Sons, Matthew Ray Hinojosa of San Antonio, Jacob Ryan (Savannah) Hinojosa of Corpus Christi; Grandmother, Anita Hinojosa of Kenedy; Sister, Stacia (Johnny) Jacques of Kenedy; Brother; Stevie Ray Hinojosa of Kenedy; grandchildren, Roman Ray Pacheco of Kenedy, Liam Daniel Pena of Kenedy; Nephews and Nieces, Zeke (Victoria) Jacques of Kenedy, Kaitlin Jacques of Kenedy, Timothy Jacques of Kenedy, Ava Hinojosa of Kenedy, Arianna Hinojosa of Kenedy, Arya Hinojosa of Kenedy; Great Nephew Reese Johnny Jacques of Kenedy and a host of family and friends.

Manuel P. Galindo, of Kenedy, Texas( since October 2018) , age 91, was born on November 13, 1929 in Chihuahua, Mexico passed away on July 17, 2021. Mr. Galindo’s remains will be privately interred in the Kenedy Cemetery . Memorials may be made to the Kenedy Cemetery Associaton.

Vernell Joyce Oehlke

Vernell Joyce Oehlke, 84, of Kenedy, TX passed away on July 18, 2021. She was born on May 23, 1937 in Goliad County, TX to the late William and Erna Volkmer. She married Ruben Paul Oehlke on December 30, 1955 in Schroeder,TX. Vernell stayed busy working in the home and upon Ruben’s passing she maintained the ranch and her cattle.

In addition to her husband Ruben, she is preceded in death by her parents: William and Erna Volkmer; brother: William Volkmer; In-Laws: Gus and Ella Oehlke; brothers-in-law: Darwin Oehlke, Alton Oehlke and sister–in-law: Laverda Oehlke.

She is survived by her daughters: Glenda Arnold (Jeffrey) of Sugarland, TX, and Shirley Bleidt (Barry) of Seguin, TX; son: Vernon Oehlke (Tammy) of La Grange,TX; grandchildren: Brooke Oehlke, Ryan Ermis (Leah), Cody Arnold, Justin Oehlke (Amber), Courtney Garrett (Van), Jackie Gilley (Tommy) and Brittany Bleidt; great grandchildren: Emma Bleidt, Carlie Pochron, Weston Oehlke, Caleb Gilley, Colton Oehlke; brother-in-law: Gaylon Oehlke (Kathy) and sisters-in-law: Barbara Volkmer and Sarah Oehlke.

Public visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Randy Bruno officiating. Interment to follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Ryan Ermis, Cody Arnold,  Justin Oehlke, Tommy Gilley, Van Garrett, and Brad Volkmer.

Genovevo Buentello

Genovevo Buentello, of Kenedy, TX was born on January 31, 1931 in Runge, TX passed away on July 15, 2021 at the age of 90. Mr. Buentello is survived by cousins in Runge, TX and his family at the Kenedy Health and Rehabiliation Center.  His Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 10:00a.m.at the Kenedy Cemetery  led by his cousin, Priscilla Sanchez and her mother. Those that knew Genovevo are invited to attend. Memorials may be made to the Kenedy Cemetery Association.

Wesley L. Doreck

Wesley Lee Doreck of Kenedy, Texas was born on July 25, 1939 in Choate, Texas to Walter Doreck and Alice Atkinson Doreck passed away on July 14, 2021 at the age of 81. Mr. Doreck was preceded in death by his parents, his sister: Faye Stockton, brother: Ray Doreck, niece: Jo Ann Lieke, nephew: Troy Doreck. Survivors include his wife of 61 years who he married on June 25, 1960 : Katherine Marie Krueger Doreck of Kenedy, TX; daughters: Cheryl (Jeffrey) Fudge of Mineral, TX, Susan (David Miller) Doreck of Choate, TX and D’ Ann Doreck of San Antonio, TX; sons: William (JoAnn) Doreck of Choate, TX and Jesse (Kris) Doreck of Coy City, TX; 8 grandchildren: Darryl Fudge, Kristi Rodgers, Mandy Doreck, Morgan Rollins, Dylan Doreck, Kelsey Pullin, Hali Pawelek and Luke Doreck; 6 grandchildren: Retha Rodgers, Briley Fudge, Kooper Rollins, Kasen Rollins, Wyatt Collier, Braxton Pullin; sisters: LaVerne Simmons, of Kenedy, TX, Ida Ruth O’Niell of Ingleside, TX and Bea Ramsey of Cotulla, TX; brother: Joe B. Maria Alaniz Salinas

Maria Alaniz Salinas, of Kenedy, Texas was born on March 9, 1933 in Karnes County, Texas to Rosa Garza Alaniz and Cecilio Alaniz passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the age of 88 surrounded by family.

Mrs. Salinas was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She married Benito P. Salinas on July 5, 1950.

Mrs. Salinas was preceded in death by her husband: Benito (1997); her daughter: Rachel Salinas; son: Bennie Salinas; daughter: Maria Cecelia Salinas; sisters: Manuela Botello and Virgina Ponce and brother: Joe Alaniz Sr.

She is survived by her daughters and sons: Cynthia (Jimmy) Solis Jr. of Kenedy, TX; Baldomero “Bo” Salinas of Kenedy, TX;  Clara Rosa “Katy” Salinas and husband Felix Barrera of Falfurrias, TX and Robert Salinas; sister: Sylvia Ortiz of Lubbock, TX;  19 Grandchildren; 29 Great grandchildren; 7 Great Great Grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 9:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Rosary to be recited on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 9:30a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with interment following in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church Parish Hall.
