Aurora Dora Estrada

Aurora Dora Estrada of Kenedy, Texas was born on June 16, 1940 to Santiago Estrada and Maria Segura Estrada in Kenedy, Texas  went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2022 at the age of 81. Dora was a member of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She worked at a Nurses Aide and also was a Nanny to the Stewart Family -owners of Eckols Funeral Home, Inc.

Survivors include her four nieces: Esperanza (Eloy) Zapata of Pearsall, TX, Dora(Speedy) Ruiz of Seguin,TX, Beatrice (Oscar) Martinez of Kenedy,TX, Anna (John) Eldridge of Seguin,TX; three nephews: Juan Granado of Stockdale,TX, Daniel (Yolanda) Ruiz of Seguin, TX, Paul Estrada of Kenedy,TX ; great  niece: Marissa Jaramillo of Kenedy,TX and great nephew: Paul Justice of Kenedy, TX and many other great  nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 4:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Interment in the Loma Alta Cemetery.

Robert Michael Horne

Robert Michael Horne, 83 of Victoria passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in a local hospital. He was born February 8, 1939 and grew up in Kenedy, he enjoyed hunting throughout his life and had a passion for farming. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time on his land and raising cattle. He worked in many service phases of the oilfield throughout his 61year career with the last 16 years as a drilling and production consultant.

Robert was a fun and caring person who cherished and loved his family and friends. Nothing pleased him more than spending time with his family. He was married to the love of his life, Geri for 65 years. They were devoted and always there for each other.  He was the strength, guide and counselor of his family and he will be dearly missed.

Robert is survived by his wife: Geri, their sons: R. Michael Horne, Jr. (Cheryl) of Sugar Land, and Gary Horne (Tracey) of Kenedy; four grandchildren: Meagan Horne, R. Michael Horne III (Lisa), Ashton Walker, and Justin Horne (Lesley) and two great grandchildren: Sawyer and Silas Walker. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: Sam Horne (Shera), Homer Horne (Paula), Francis Montgomery, and Elizabeth Eddy, and 9 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Cosby and Julia Horne, two brothers-law: Alton “Monty” Mongomery and Morris Eddy and a niece Marla Nixon.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Eckols Funeral Home.

Visitation will also be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 1:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Funeral services beginning promptly at 2:00p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Eckols Chapel with Rev. La Andriamihaja, M.Div. of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Victoria officiating.

Interment to follow in Kenedy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert’s nephews: Alton J. Montgomery, Keith Horne, Dean Eddy, Dwayne Eddy, Rusty Horne, and Morris Eddy, Jr.

Peter Sylvester

Peter James Sylvester Sr. 78 of Corpus Christi, passed away peacefully on February 17th at 11:20p.m. Peter Sr. was surrounded by his wife Bonnie, son David, daughter-in-law Liz. Those who were unable to be by his side physically were there in spirit, his eldest Son Peter Jr. and family we’re surrounding him with love and prayer from afar.

To Know Peter Sr. was to know creativity, love and laughter. There isn’t a memory anyone can share where there wasn’t a smile or a laugh involved. Peter Sr. was born in Hilo Hawaii on December 3,1943 to Louise Decambra Sylvester and joined in his upbringing by his stepfather David Sylvester. He lived his early life there until the age of 13 when he and his family made the relocation to Northern California. After high school, Peter Sr. joined the U.S. Navy and served our Country bravely and proudly. Once honorably discharged, he found the love of his life and married Bonnie Sylvester for (57) memorable years. Together they brought (2) sons Peter Jr. and David Sylvester into this world. Peter Sr. enjoyed drawing and painting mainly pieces of his home in Hawaii. Peter Sr. enjoyed writing and even wrote a book of his life and eagerly hoped to one day produce a documentary or movie. Although, a film was never made, that didn’t stop him from creating, narrating and staring in his own home films. Peter Sr. was a loyal supporter to his son’s karate and sports endeavors, he actually quit a job to see them play once. There wasn’t anything Peter Sr. wouldn’t do for his wife and boys, Peter Sr. was preceded in death by his brother Rodney Sylvester on March 12, 2021 and is succeeded in life by his sister Anita Kaeagy, (4) grandchildren Christopher, Taylor, Joshua and Nicholas and (2) great grandchildren Memphis James and Zaylee.

This summer the family will honoring Peter Sr.’s final wish to returned to his beloved Home Hawaii, where his ashes will be spread amongst the water falls and playgrounds of his youth.

Reyes Ramirez Alaniz

Reyes Ramirez Alaniz, age 87 of Pawnee, Texas, passed away February 22, 2022 in Victoria, Texas.  She was born on October 13, 1934 to the late Carlos Charles Ramirez and Felipa Leal Ramirez.  She married Alfredo Alaniz on September 22, 1951 in Pawnee.  She retired from Pawnee ISD, worked as a home health provider in and around Pawnee and also worked at the Mobil Uranium Plant in Pawnee.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pawnee, Texas.  She is preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Alaniz, parents Carlos Charles Ramirez and Felipa Leal Ramirez, an infant daughter, Yolanda Alaniz; sister Angelita Reyes, brother Carlos Ramirez.  She is survived by her children Stella (Ronald) Belcher of Pawnee, Belia “Billie” (Vidal) Garza of Kenedy, Audelia (Rey) Trevino of Three Rivers, Alfredo “Fred” (Grace) Flores of Angelton, Belinda (Alfonso) Camacho of Goliad, Rosa “Rosie” (William) West of Pawnee, Able (Maria) Alaniz of Beeville, Larry (Elva) Alaniz of Pawnee,; sisters, Antonia Cisneros of Abilene, Ramona Garza of San Antonio, Leonor Davila of Baytown, Tina Rupp of Oakridge, TN; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home, Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 28, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Zielensky officiating. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Pawnee, TX.

Teodoro “Lolo” G. Rios

Teodoro “Lolo” G. Rios, Age 63 of Falls City, Tx passed away on February 19, 2022 in San Antonio, TX.  Lolo was born on April 15, 1958 in Kenedy, TX to the late Eusebio and Ramona Mendoza Rios.  He has been married 42 years to the love of his life Paula Gonzales Rios, was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, truck driver for AEGIS chemical company and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, TX.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Eusebio and Ramona Mendoza Rios and a brother Juan Rios.  He is survived by his loving wife, Paula Gonzales Rios of Falls City; daughter, Gina Rios and Javier Galvan of Kenedy; sons, Derick Hernandez and Daryn Morales of Falls City; sisters, Nora Leal of San Antonio, Mary (Jesse) Pardo of Rosenberg, Gloria Hinojosa of Rosenberg; grandchildren, Brandon Smart, Dayna Rios, Daniel Rios; great-grandson, Easton A. Smart, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Visitation will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, TX with the Rev. Andrzej Waszczenko officiating.  Interment will follow in the Falls City Cemetery in Falls City,  TX.

Bobbie Erlene Bonner

 

Bobbie Erlene Bonner, Age 94 of Runge, TX passed away on February 19, 2022 in Yoakum, TX. Bobbie was born on May 3, 1927 in Electra, TX, to the late William David “Buck” and Sallie Murehead Vestal. She was a loving wife, mother, Granny, Great-Granny, and Great-Great Granny. She graduated from Electra High School in Electra, Texas. She worked for and, after many years of dedication, retired from Walmart in Kenedy, Texas. She was a devoted and dedicated member of the Church of Christ in Runge, TX, where she will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl Weldon Bonner of 63 years; parents, William David “Buck” and Sallie Murehead Vestal; daughter, Cristy Bonner-Todd; siblings, Jack Vestal, James Vestal and Peggy Griffith.

Graveside Visitation will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 9AM to 10AM with Graveside Services beginning promptly at 10AM followed by interment in the Runge Cemetery with Larry Elliot officiating.

Margaret F. Vasquez

Margaret F. Vasquez, Age 91 of Kenedy, TX passed away on February 16, 2022 in Kenedy, TX.  Margaret was born on January 18, 1931 in Kenedy to the late Antonio, Sr. and Lula Garcia Fernandez.  She was a retired nurse, a loving wife, mother, sister, a dear friend to many and a member of the St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Kenedy.

She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio, Sr. and Lula Garcia Fernandez; her 1st husband, Jose Avalos and her 2nd husband, Rufus Vasquez.

She is survived by her son Joe Avalos of Kenedy, TX; a brother, Antonio Fernandez, II of Mission, TX and many extended family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 6PM to 7PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Services will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 10AM at the St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Kenedy.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Maria Donna Cho-Summers

Maria Donna Cho-Summers of Kenedy, Texas was born on June 30, 1955 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Alvin Cho Sr. and Amparo Belunza Cho passed away on February 14, 2022 at the age of 66 at her residence. Donna is preceded in death by her husband David Summers. She is survived by her daughters and son: Trinity Yoshimura of Austin, TX, George Summers of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and Monique Summers of Orange County, California; 6 grandchildren; three sisters: Sandra Cho, Christine Chew and Bernie Keeling; brothers: two brothers: Alvin Cho Jr. and Jeff Cho, both of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; her significant other: Richard Jalufka of Kenedy, TX; and other relatives. It was Donna’s wishes to be cremated and her cremains to be scattered in Hawaii. Memorials may be to any organization of your choice.

Geraldyne Edna Spencer

Geraldine Edna Spencer, age 88, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 in the hospital in Kenedy. Born in Oakville, Texas August 13, 1933, Geraldyne was the daughter of Henry and Nora Humphries.  She lived in Kenedy since 1949 and was married to Joe Ben Spencer on April 11, 1953. Geraldyne worked as a bookkeeper for many years and attended the Assembly of God Church. After retirement, her days were spent enjoying coffee and visits with friends, the company of her family whom she cared for greatly and worshipping with her brothers and sisters in Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nora and Henry Humphries; her spouse, Joe Ben Spencer and her son, Christopher Scott Spencer (stillborn).

Geraldyne is survived by her sister and brother: Maynette Anderson and Charles (Punch) Humphries; sons: Jerry Spencer and Benny Spencer; daughter: Denise Staudt; grandchildren: Drew Spencer, Christy Martinez, Diana Nelson, and Lori Spencer; great-grandchildren: Kelly Spencer, Leah Spencer, Sage Geraldyne Spencer, Jacob Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Micah Spencer, Liam Spencer, Corbin Spencer, and Regan Spencer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. with Funeral Services beginning promptly at 1:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Janie Molina

Janie Molina, age 74, of Kenedy, Texas passed away on February 8, 2022 in Jourdanton, Texas.  She was born on February 3, 1948 in Karnes City, Texas to the late Santos Reyes Molina, Sr. and Olegaria Diaz Molina.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and of the Catholic faith.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Santos Reyes Molina, Sr. and Olegaria Diaz Molina; daughter Diana Morales; sons Ricky Morales, Mariano Molina; and a brother Joe D. Molina.  She is survived by her loving husband Randy Wheeler; daughters Rosa Molina of New Braunfels, Rebecca Molina of Kenedy, Nikki Molina of Floresville; son Miguel Molina of Kenedy; sisters Olegaria Molina of Lampasas, Vicenta Mendoza of Victoria; brothers Frank Martines of Karnes City, Gabriel Molina of Kenedy, Johnny Molina of Beeville, Santos Molina, Jr. of Kenedy; six grandchildren and one great grandchild and many extended family members and dear friends.  A Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 7:00pm in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Services will be Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 10:00am in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, Texas.
