Jose Meza Nunez

Jose Meza Nunez, Age 70 of Zapata, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. Jose was born on Sept. 28, 1947 in Kenedy, TX to the late Jose Maria and Ignacia Meza Nunez.  On June 6, 1970 he married Alicia Sanchez in Pawnee, TX.  Jose retired from Shell Oil Company as a Plant Forman after 38 years was a Veteran of the US ARMY proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War, a devout member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Zapata, TX , a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Maria and Ignacia Meza Nunez and a sister Sandy Tenberg.  Jose is survived by his loving wife, Alicia Sanchez Nunez of Zapata; sons, Michael Ray Nunez and wife Carmen of Floresville,  Allen Nunez and wife Cindy of Floresville; sisters, Eva (Narsario) Ochoa of Runge, Maria Elena (Randy) Hall of North Carolina; brothers, Paul (Lillie) Nunez of Runge, Adam (Josie) Nunez of Kenedy, Victor (Soledad) Nunez of Karnes City, Gerardo (Diana) Nunez of Karnes City, David Nunez of Runge,Eloy (Mary Lou) of Runge, Roland (Mary Jane) Nunez of Kenedy; grandchildren, Tisha Nunez, Andrea Nunez, Diego Nunez and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  A Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Gus DeLaGarza officiating.  Funeral Mass will held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 2PM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Herman officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ntra Sra De Guadalupe Cemetery with Military Honors in Pawnee, TX.

Mary Beth Walker

Mary Beth Walker, of Choate, TX was born on September 18, 1937 to Arthur Benjamin Copeland and Lyda Mae Jeffery Copeland. Mrs. Walker passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at home, at the age of 80, and was surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart of 57 years, Randall C. Walker in 2014. Mrs. Walker was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She placed God, family and others before herself. She was a 1955 graduate of Pettus High School and a graduate of Draughon’s Business College of San Antonio. Mrs. Walker was an avid fan of the Pettus Eagles, Texas Aggies, Dallas Cowboys, and San Antonio Spurs. She was a secretary at Pettus ISD and volunteered at the school for over 35 years. She was a life-long member of Choate Baptist Church where she played the piano for many years. She was involved in the W.M.U., Operation Christmas Child, Vacation Bible School, Youth Group, and various missions. She was a lover of music, crafting, baking, and celebrated holidays in a big way. She was a warm, tender- hearted, and compassionate person. She is preceded in death by her husband, Randall C. Walker; grandsons, Jeffery Paul Walker II and Kevin Michael Johnson , and two brothers, Arthur Bryan “Bubba” Copeland and James C. “Jimmy” Copeland. She is survived by her sons and daughters, Randall Scott (Mayette) Walker, of Choate,TX, Jeffery Paul (Mary) Walker, of Choate,TX, Staci Alyce (Patrick) Johnson, of San Antonio,TX and Jana Beth (Jason) Maddox, of Tuleta,TX; 10 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; and other relatives.

Crispiliano T. Garza

Crispiliano T. Garza, Age 83 of Kenedy, TX passed away May 1, 2018 in Victoria, TX. Crispiliano was born on July 26, 1934 in Beeville, TX to the late Jose Maria Garza and Anslema Tapia Trevino.   He was a retired construction Truck Driver and of the Catholic Faith.  He is preceded in death by his parents Jose Maria Garza, and Anselma Tapia and Gabriel Trevino; son Hector M. Garza and a brother, Pablo Garza.  He is survived by his children, Nelda (Raul) Potrero of Houston, Barbara Garcia of Kenedy, Josie Garcia of Victoria, Mary Gomez of Beeville, Rosie Venecia of Kenedy, Irma Padron of Kenedy, Marty Espinoza of Kenedy, George Garcia of Kenedy, Alex Caballero of Kenedy, Eugene Venecia of Kenedy, Johnny Caballero of Corpus; sisters, Soila G. (Regina) Flores of Choate, Susana (Adolfo) Lara of Victoria; brother, Lorenzo(Chonita) Garza of Placido; 4 grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family Visitation will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 9AM to 1PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 1PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Adela Sotello officiating.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

Ruth McIntosh

Ruth Marie McIntosh was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was born February 18, 1935 in Jourdanton, Texas to Lester and Susie (Eldridge) Ewers.  She is survived by her husband Chester Wayne McIntosh, Sr., a son Chester Wayne McIntosh, Jr. and his wife Linda (Allison) McIntosh, a second son Avery Lee McIntosh, a sister Alma Millsap, a nephew Carroll Ewers, Jr., 2 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.  A memorial service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held Monday, March 26, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Eckols Funeral Home at 420 W. Liveoak Street, Kenedy, Texas with Rev. Aaron Corporon of Choate Baptist Church officiating.  Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. Monday just prior to the memorial service at Eckols Funeral Home. Interment in Kenedy Cemetery.

Elodia Botello Guzman

Elodia Botello Guzman, 74, of Kenedy died Thursday, March 22, 2018. She was born on April 24, 1943 in Kenedy, Texas to Benancio Botello and Norberta Rodriguez. Elodia was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter JoAnne Rios, sons, Jaime Guzman, Heriberto “Bert” Guzman and David Guzman; sister, Lydia Martinez; brothers, Andres Botello, Tony Botello, and great grandson, James Daniel Rios.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Heriberto “Beto” Guzman, children, Patricia Guzman (Juan) of Runge, TX, Ruben Guzman of Kenedy, TX, Larry Guzman (Sylvia) of Kenedy,TX Priscilla Alvarado(Jaime) of Kenedy, TX, Rebeca Gutierrez (Felix) of Yorktown, TX and Robert Guzman (Pauline) of Kenedy, TX; sisters, Carrie Copeland of San Antonio,TX ,Janie Olivares of Kenedy,TX and Sylvia Trevino of Houston,TX; twenty six grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren.

Loraine Zamzow Erler

Loraine Zamzow Erler, age 94, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 16, 2018, in Karnes City, Texas. Loraine was born March 21, 1923 in Karnes County to the late Emil and Anna (Retzloff) Zamzow. Loraine’s life journey centered around her faith in the Lord which began when she was baptized as a child at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City, Texas. She was confirmed in 1938 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and on Oct. 10, 1953 she married Arno Erler at St. Paul’s. They were blessed with two daughters, Sandra and Melissa. Loraine attended the Crews Community School where she had fond memories of playing baseball and her teacher Cecil Faith. She graduated from Karnes City High School Class of 1940. Loraine was a loving mother, gardener, farmer, and provided housekeeping services. She loved baking bread, pastries and other goodies. Her favorite hobbies were playing dominoes and watching baseball. In later years, she was a fond lover of music. Loraine is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Arno in 1973, her brothers: Alfred, Arno, Richard, Henry, Emil (Boots), Helmuth, sisters, Hilda Zaeske, Lonie Machost, and Annie Mae Northham. Loraine is survived by her daughters: Sandra G. Dickens and husband Gerald of Karnes City, TX and Melissa Reitz and husband Martin of Hobson, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Visitation hours Monday, March 19, 2018 from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018  at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Arden Dorn officiating. George Edwin Hunt

George Edwin Hunt, born on April 18, 1929 in Alice, Texas to Roy Hunt and Alma Listenbee passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the age of 88. Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Colleen Hunt and wife Joyce Hunt. Survivors include his two sons and daughter: Jeffrey A. (Dee) Hunt, Louise, TX and Dean (Loreley) Hunt, Tampa, FL and Mary (Jesse) Nixon, Karnes City, TX; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Bill (Shirley) Hunt, Stockdale, TX and other relatives. Lauro C. Gonzales

Lauro Carreon Gonzales, 82, of Pawnee passed away March 2, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born August 18, 1935 in Nell (Live Oak County), Texas to Jose and Concepcion (Carreon) Gonzales. He married Oralia Villarreal in Pawnee on August 18, 1979 and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Alongside his brothers, he spent many years doing ranch work. He worked in different capacities as a caterpillar and maintainer operator and mechanic for Odem Arnold in Nell, Herbert Rudolph in Lenz, Jackie Arnold Pawnee Lease Service and retired in 2009 with 14 years of service with the Bee County Road and Bridge Department in Beeville. Supervisors admired his work ethic, commitment and responsibility to completer tasks he was assigned.  Lauro was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Concepcion Gonzales, his half –brother Jesus Gonzales, brothers Felipe C. Gonzales, Eginio C. Gonzales, Pablo “Peewee” C. Gonzales, and Ramon C. Gonzales, Sr. Also preceding him in death was his half-sister Angelita Velasquez.  Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Oralia Gonzales, his sister Emilia G. Escamilla of Falls City, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved.  Visitation hours Monday, March 5, 2018 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel in Kenedy. Funeral Services Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment to follow in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Pawnee.

Billie Perkins

Billie Perkins, Age 89 of Tuleta, TX passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Beeville, TX. She was born on August 25, 1928 in Singer, LA to the late Hamp and Loudella Ashworth Nelson.  Billie married Lawrence M. Perkins on November 1, 1946 in Houma, Arizona who preceded her in death. She was a former employee of Paul Breuners in Beeville and a faithful member of Tuleta First Baptist Church.  She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence M. Perkins; parents, Hamp and Loudella Ashworth Nelson, and 17 brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her daughter, Lori Gannon and husband Randy of Victoria; sons, Lawrence Perkins and wife Sue of Pettus, Roger Perkins and wife Ginger of Beeville, TX and 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  Family Visitation will be held Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 4PM to 6PM at the Tuleta First Baptist Church in Tuleta. Graveside Services will be Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10AM in the Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, TX with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.

Eusebio “Chico” Rios

Eusebio “Chico” Rios, of Kenedy, TX, born on March 17, 1930 in Choate, TX to Teodoro and Hilaria Garza Rios passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the age of 88. Chico was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona; his parents; his son, Juan Rios; his two sisters, Mary Gonzales and Eva Castillo and his brother, Elias Rios. He is survived by his daughters, Nora R. Leal, of San Antonio, TX; Mary (Jesse) Pardo, of Rosenberg, TX; and Gloria Hinojosa, of Rosenberg, TX his son, Teodoro (Paula) Rios, of Fall City, TX; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Manuela (Santiago) Solis, of Kenedy, TX and a brother, Adan Rios, of Kenedy, TX; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel.  Funeral services Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic  Church with Rev.
