Ester Rodriguez


Ester Rodriguez, age 79, of Karnes City Texas passed away on December 13, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Ester was born to Jose Maria Saenz and Anita Cavazos Saenz on December 5, 1940 in Beeville Texas. She married Abel Rodriguez on February 16, 1963 and they lived together in Karnes City Tx. Together they raised 4 children.

Ester was a home maker, care giver, and a seamstress. She also worked part time with both the Karnes City and Fanning School districts. She was an avid member of Smirna Pentecostal Church in Pawnee, Texas.

She was preceded in death by parents Jose Maria & Anita Saenz. Husband Abel Rodriguez, granddaughter Teagan Grace Rodriguez, Sister Angelita Sauceda and nephew Jeremy Saenz.

Ester leaves her children Noel (Sonja) Rodriguez of Three Rivers,Tx, Oralia Urrutia (Tony Cruz) of Kenedy, Tx, Enrique Rodriguez of Normanna, Tx and Edward (Jennifer) Rodriguez of Kenedy Tx.

She also leaves to cherish her memory 4 grandchildren. Ashley White of Karnes City, Tx, Eric Rodriguez of San Antonio, Tx, Korie Rodriguez of San Antonio, Tx and Hailey Rodriguez of Kenedy, Tx along with 2 great grandchildren Amariah White of Karnes City, Tx and Roger Gill of San Antonio, Tx.

Ester is also survived by her siblings Alberto (late Petra Prieto) Saenz, Sylvia (Chuck Nations), Rosa Winn, Arnold (Maria) Saenz, Santiago Saenz, Raul Saenz, George (Vicki) Saenz, Carlos Saenz  along with a host of nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Visitation will be December 17, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by aPrayer services at EcKols Funeral Home. Funeral Services are to be held at Smirna Pentecostal Church in Pawnee Tx on December 18, 2019 @ 10 am. Burial to follow at New Bremen Cemetery in Lenz Tx.

Adam DelaGarza Jr.

Adam DelaGarza, Jr. of Kenedy, Texas born on March 7, 1958 in Karnes City, Texas passed away on December 8, 2019 at the age of 61. Adam is preceded in death by his father Adam C. Delagarza Sr. Survivors include his mother: Juanita Garza Delagarza; sisters: Gracie Stewart of Three Rivers, TX and her daughter Vanessa Stewart and Nancy (Alexander) Strilka, Three Rivers, TX and daugthers: Kayla Strilka, Larissa Strilka, Lindsey Strilka; and other relatives. Visitation Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services Friday, December 13, 2019 at 10:00a.m. at St. Cornelius Catholic Church with interment to follow in New Bremen Cemetery. Pallbearers: Carlos Gutierrez, Domingo Villanueva, Alex Strilka, Pat Pastore, Steven Molina and Jason Garza.

Dorothy Rayburn

Dorothy Agnes (Scott) Rayburn, 92, of Beeville, Texas went to her heavenly home on December 9, 2019.  Dorothy was born in the Green Community, Karnes County on September 8, 1927 to Lon Walker and Lou Ella (Vaughan) Scott. Dorothy married Charles Norman Rayburn on January 17, 1948 in Kenedy, Texas.  Charles & Dorothy made their home in Kenedy, Texas where they raised their three children.  Dorothy was employed as a teller at the First Nichols National Bank of Kenedy after graduation. After starting a family Dorothy was a devoted homemaker.  Dorothy had other business pursuits that included Circle N. Grocery and cosmetic sales.  Dorothy was a director of the Kenedy Chamber of Commerce and an active member of the Kenedy First Baptist Church.  Dorothy loved having family gatherings in her home.  Dorothy was proceeded in death by her parents, Lon & Lou Ella Scott, her husband Charles N. Rayburn, two brothers, Vaughan D. (Kathleen) Scott and Leonard W. (Bonnie) Scott, two sisters, Winnie Ruth (Bernard) Olson, and Louise (Gordon) Johnson.  She is survived by her children and their spouses, Cheryl Ann (David) Dollase, Beeville, Texas, Dorothy Jean (Brad) Yeater, Kenedy, Texas and Charles Norman –“Chip” Trina Rayburn, Jr., La Grange, Texas. Grandchildren: David Jason Dollase, Kansas City, Mo., Dori Allison Yeater, Austin, Texas Kelsey Nicole Yeater, Austin, Texas, Chase (Shelby) Rayburn, Cypress, Texas, and Matthew Scott Rayburn, Galveston, Texas.  Great grandchildren: Cade Walker Dollase, Reid Parker Dollase, Charlee Nicole Rayburn & Jenna Kay Rayburn, Niece Sue Thiele and many other loving nieces and nephews and a vast array of friends.

Services will be held at the Eckols Funeral Home, 420 West Live Oak Street, Kenedy, Texas Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on December 11, 2019. The funeral will be at 10:00AM on December 12, 2019 with interment in the Kenedy Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Chase Rayburn, Danny Scott, Doug Olson, Gary Thiele, Phillip Stewart and Tom Dybowski, honorary pallbearer Michael Scott.

Beatrice Cruz

Beatrice Cruz, of San Antonio, TX was born on April 5, 1956 in Goliad, Texas passed away suddenly on December 5, 2019 at the age of 63. Bea was a Licensed Vocational Nurse for Encompass Home Healthcare. She is preceded in death by her mother, Creselda Garcia Rodriguez, brother: John Albert Rodriguez and father, Juan Rodriguez. She is survived by her boyfriend: Willie Esquivel, of San Antonio,TX; daughters: Christina (Joe) Benavides, of Kenedy, TX and Cassandra (Jared) Fossler of Converse, TX and their father, Trinidad G. (Rita) Cruz; 5 Grandchildren: Jesse Joe (Marina) Benavides, Justine Taylor Benavides, Iris Jade Ramirez, Kara Paige Fossler, Kagen Lee Fossler; great grandchildren: Mila Margaret Benavides, Emma Sade Benavides; brothers: Mario Rodriguez, Richard Rodriguez, and Joe Rodriguez; step-mother: Pam Rodriguez; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Kenedy  with a Celebration of Life starting at 7:00p.m. led by family. Reception to follow in Fellowship Hall.

Kenneth Gerfers

Kenneth Gerfers, of Kenedy, TX born on October 18, 1935 in Kendalia, Texas passed away on November 30, 2019 at the age of 84 in Kenedy, TX.   Kenneth was a retired  rancher, a member of the Brush Country Cowboy Church in George West, TX and a  loving Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and friend to many.  Mr. Gerfers is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Power Gerfers; daughter, Lee Ann Morton; Parents, Leroy Emmit and Zelma H. Gerfers and a brother Joe Charles Gerfers. Survivors include his children: Patti Jo (Don)Wright of Kenedy, TX; Grandchildren: Calleigh Jo Wright of Kenedy, TX, Dustin (Caylee) Wright, of Weesatche, TX, Thomas Peyton Morton of George West, TX and Kenneth Brady Morton of George West, TX; great grandchildren: Wyatt Wright, Grayson Edward Wright, Rhett Edward Wright, Skylar Morton, Lacey Morton, Mary Jane Morton, Colton Morton; sister, Sandra (Dutch) Dodd of Woodlands, TX. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 10:00a.m. at the Brush Country Cowboy Church, 3117 Hwy 281, George West, TX with interment to follow in George West Cemetery. Ruth Irene Remmers

Ruth Irene Remmers, of Leander, TX formerly of Kenedy,TX was born on October 20, 1935 to Gilbert Milton Hooper and Wilma Sikes Hooper passed away on November 22, 2019 at the age of 84. Mrs. Remmers was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Walter Remmers, Jr., in March, 2013. She is survived by her daughter: Barbara (Randy) Brown of Leander, TX; son: Gary Remmers of Three Rivers, TX;  6 grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; sister: Wilma Jean Crites and brother: Glen Hooper and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Graveside services at 1:30p.m. at Kenedy Cemetery with Mr. W.B. Howard officiating. Interment in Kenedy Cemetery.

Robert Lee Moses III

Robert Lee Moses III, of Kenedy, Texas born on July 13,1999 in Seguin, TX passed away on November 6, 2019 at the age of 20. Robert is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Robert Lee Moses and Monty Beth Burris Moses, his maternal grandfather, Juan G. Segura; his step grandfather, Domingo Pesina, his uncle, Michael Pesina. Survivors include his father: Robert Lee Moses Jr. of Kenedy, TX; mother: Angelica (Tracy) Barrier, of Karnes City, TX; maternal grandmother: Eusebia Rodriguez, of Karnes City, TX; Aunts: Erica Gutierrez, of Karnes City, TX, Robbie (James )Shortner of Karnes City, TX; Uncles: Steven Pesina, of Karnes City, TX and Hal (Lynn) Moses of Alvin, TX; stepbrothers: Dustin and Darren Pacheco; nieces: Natalie Pacheco, of Karnes City, TX; cousins and other relatives. Santiago Guajardo “Welo” Solis

Santiago Guajardo “Welo” Solis, of Kenedy,Texas born on July 25, 1934 in Kenedy, Texas passed away on November 7, 2019 at the age of 85. Mr. Solis was retired as a truck driver. He is preceded in death by his parents: Francisco Solis and Maria Guajardo Solis and siblings: 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Manuela Rios Solis; son: Santiago R. (Cynthia) Solis Jr. of Kenedy,TX; daughters: Margarita “Margie” (Gregorio Jr.) Morales, and Rebecca S. (Danny) Diaz, both of Kenedy,TX; brother: Domingo Solis of Kenedy,TX; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 9:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 11, 2019 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating with interment following in Loma Alta Cemetery. Pallbearers: James Sutton, Joe Daniel Solis, Theodore Rios, Steve Gonzales, Ruben Solis, Michael Solis. Clarona “Clara” Ida Koerth Kotzur

Clarona “Clara” Ida Koerth Kotzur, Age 89 of Pettus, TX passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Karnes City, TX.   Clara was born on March 27, 1930 in Yoakum, TX to the late Fred and Leona Windmeyer Koerth.  She married Joseph “Joe” Kotzur on Feb. 10, 1951 in Karnes City, TX; retired as an accountant for K.R. Leggett Construction company in Pettus; was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a member of The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Clara is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Kotzur; parents Fred and Leona Windmeyer Koerth and a brother Marlin Koerth.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Deborah Styra and husband Ferdinand of Yorktown; sons, Steve Kotzur of Berclair, Terry Wood of Lake Hills; grandson, Brett Styra of Yorktown and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 4, 2019 from 6P.M. to 8P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 10A.M. at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wally Schievelbein officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.

Dale St. John

Dale St. John, 81, of Kenedy, Texas died September 28, 2019 in Ozark, Arkansas. She was born on June 2, 1938 in Beeville, Texas, the daughter of the late Melvin Vaughn and Hazel Velma Bryan. She was the oldest of six siblings. In August of 1960, she married the love of her life, Clealan L. Pierce who was killed while serving in the United States Navy on January 4, 1962. She met and later married Charlie St. John on December 20, 1965 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Together they raised three wonderful children.

Dale graduated from Pan American University in 1989 with a Bachelor’s of Art Degree. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Alpha Theta. She received multiple awards in History and graduated with High Honors. She was an advid reader and enjoyed sharing her large collection of books with others.

Dale is survived by her daughters Carla Kuykendall and Marcie St John, both of Dallas, Texas. Her grandchildren Brittany Hall of Ft. Worth, Texas; Nicholas Hall of Eustis, Florida; Raye Ellen Wood of San Antonio, Texas;  Pricilla St. John of Karnes City, Texas; Jessica Jalufka of Allen, Texas; and Coleton and Courtney Henry of Dallas, Texas. Her great grandchildren Tristan, Emma, Cody and Sophie Chittenden of Ft. Worth, Texas; Ryder, Jagger and Harper Hartsfield of Karnes City, Texas; Kristina Wood of San Antonio, Texas; and Ryder Koop of Allen, Texas.   Siblings are Bays Bryan of Kenedy, Texas; Roy Bryan of Florence, Alabama; Richard Bryan of San Antonio, Texas; Reagan Bryan on Kenedy, Texas; and Vaughn Bryan of San Antonio, Texas.   Dale was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kaiulani Lehua and her only son Karnes County Deputy Sheriff Rex Harrison St. John.
A graveside memorial service will be held at The Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, Texas on Wednesday November 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Services will be officiated by Rev. Aaron Corporon.
