Julio Perez Madrigal Sr.

Julio Perez Madrigal Sr. of Houston, TX, passed away the morning of Monday, September 6, 2021 at Memorial Hermann Medical Center. He was  66 years old. He was born  in Runge, Texas, to the late Libario and Guadalupe Madrigal. Julio was retired and was a devoted Christian. He attended Lakewood Church. He loved to preach the Word of God. He loved spending his time with his children and grandchildren, never missing a holiday or birthday’s with them. He also loved to go fishing.

He is survived by his three brothers,: Libario Madrigal Jr. of Kenedy, TX, Nabor Madrigal and Jimmy Madrigal of Houston,TX;his four sisters: Rita Rivas of Levelland, TX, Ida Morena of Pasadena, TX ,Olivia De La Garza of Kenedy, TX and Consuelo Madrigal of San Antonio, TX. And his four children : Julio Madrigal Jr, Jennifer Madrigal, Jeremy Madrigal all of Victoria, TX, and Melissa Madrigal and Juan Sauceda of Rosenberg, TX; 11 grandchildren: Juan Nathaniel, Brianna, Adrian, Eric,, Ashlyn Paris, Leo, Julio III (Tres), Abigail, Thomas, Megan, and Juan Jr.

Julio is preceded in death by his father and mother: Libario and Guadalupe Madrigal; brother: Martin Martinez and sister: Margarita Gonzales.  Visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10:00a.m. with Funeral Services beginning promptly at 11:00a.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 at Eckols Chapel. Interment to follow in Loma Alta Cemetery.

Evelyn L. Hartman

Evelyn L. Hartman of Karnes City, Texas was born on December 8, 1944 in San Antonio, TX to Otto Henke Sr. and Gussie Hurt Henke passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at the age of 76. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Alton and her son Perry and her brother Leonard Henke. She is survived by her son: Presley (Kelly) Hartman of El Dorado, Arkansas and daughter: Sandra (Russell) Chesser; six grandchildren: Scott, Brian, Amanda, Savannah, Hannah, and Reagan; three great grandchildren; sister: Katheine Zaiontz of San Antonio, TX and brother: Otto (Viola) Henke Jr. of Floresville, TX; sister-in-law: Pat Henke and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 10:00a.m. for the Public at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will begin promptly at 11:00a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Walter Schievelbein of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church  officiating. Interment to follow in the Fashing Cemetery, Fashing, TX where she will be laid to rest near her son Perry. Lillie Janssen Alvarez

Lillie Janssen Alvarez, Age 94 of Kenedy, TX passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Lillie was born on November 2, 1926 in Kenedy, TX to the late George, Sr. and Francisca Marines Janssen.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend to many and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Teodoro Alvarez, Sr.; parents, George, Sr. and Francisca Marines Janssen; and infant sister; brothers, George Marines Janssen, Willie Janssen, Otto Janssen, Henry Janssen, Rudolph “Ruddy” Janssen, Johnny Janssen; and son-in-law Benito Moreno.

She is survived by her children, Frances Alvear and husband Soilo of League City, TX, Oralia Moreno and husband Benito who preceded her in death of Missouri City; sons, Theodore Alvarez, Jr of Kenedy, Alfredo “Freddy” Alvarez and wife Adela of Pawnee, Ernesto Alvarez of San Antonio, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with Services to be celebrated Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Guadalupe Cantu officiating. Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Serving as Pallbearers will be her Grandchildren.

David Perez, Sr.

David Perez, Sr., Age 66 of Kenedy, TX passed away August 13, 2021 in Kenedy, TX. David was born on February 21, 1955 in Kenedy, TX to the late Diamentina Perez Rivera. David was delivery truck driver, loving father, brother, uncle, friend to many and of the Christian Faith.

David is preceded in death by his mother, Diamentina Perez Rivera; brothers, Joe Perez, and Michael Garcia.

David is survived by his daughters, Andreina Perez of Houston, Lisa Perez of Pettus; sons, David Perez, Jr. of Kenedy, Ricky Perez of Kenedy; companion, Stella Casanova of Kenedy; sisters, Sylvia Aguero of Kenedy, Angie Caballero of Kenedy, brothers, Robert Castro of San Antonio, Enrique Perez of Falls City, Martin Perez of San Antonio, 3 grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

 

A Prayer Service will be held Sunday, September 5, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Chapel.  Services will be conducted Monday, September 6, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. in the Eckols Chapel with Pastor JoJo Castillo officiating.  Interment will follow in the Runge Latin Cemetery in Runge, TX.

Ester Alvarez Casanova

Ester Alvarez Casanova, Age 89 of Kenedy, Texas passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 24, 2021, after a short illness in San Antonio, TX at home with her family by her side. Ester was born January 8, 1932 in Greene, TX to the late Simon Alvarez and Maria Adela Muniz Alvarez.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend to many and a devout member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Simon Alvarez and Maria Adela Muniz Alvarez; her brother, Teodoro Alvarez; her sisters, Teresa Lara, Manuela Salas, as well as her adopted brothers, Onesimo Ramirez and Lalo Ramirez.

She is survived by her loving son Paulo Casanova, her beloved grandson Paul Adrian Casanova and beloved granddaughter Valerie Casanova and her husband Eric, and their 5 children Paulo, Xavier, Alyssa, Isabella and Matthew. She is also survived by her sister Minnie Horton of Kenedy, TX.  The family would like to thank Dr. Moises Bucay and his nurse Jennifer for the years of care they provided; our family is eternally grateful.  We also would like to The Medical Team Hospice staff for their care and support given to our family.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Ofilia Perez Villarreal

Ofilia “Shiela” Perez Villarreal, Age 85, of Kenedy, passed away on August 24, 2021 in Beeville, TX.  Ofilia was born on June 6, 1936 in Pawnee, TX to the late Seferino Villarreal, Sr. and Hilaria Perez Villarreal.  She was a loving aunt, great-aunt, sister, homemaker, friend to many and a devout member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Seferino, Sr. and Hilaria Perez Villarreal; sisters, Romana Villarreal, Jesusita Carvajal; brothers, Seferino Villarreal, Jr., Luciano Villarreal, Jr., Pedro Villarreal, Sr. Jose Villarreal, Sr; nephew, Armando Carvajal.  She is survived by great-niece Domenica DeLosSantos and husband Anthony of Kenedy,, TX, niece, Yolanda Salinas and husband Jesse of Kenedy, TX; great-great nieces and nephews Serena Diaz, Nathan Pacheco, Haven DeLosSantos, and Emma DeLosSantos.  A Holy Rosary will be recited Friday, September 3, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. with Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 2:30 P.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanlislaw Marciniak officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Richard Allen Vickery

Richard Allen Vickery of Edna, Texas was born on August 22, 1943 in Yoakum, Texas to John Madison Vickery and Bertha Donnell Vickery passed away on August 27, 2021 at the age of 78. Richard was a Petroleum Consultant and is survived by his wife of 41 years: Patricia Martin Vickery. He is also survived by: daughter: Robin (Bill) Adank of Meridian, MS; daughter: Elaine (Harvey) Weaver of Victoria, TX, Dee Ann Fuquay of Edna, TX, Valinda Hyde of Louisiana; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister in law: Margaret Vickery and Bernadette Vickery; brothers: Melvin Vickery and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Baby Boy Vickery, Billy Ray Vickery, John Vickery, Larry Vickery, Jimmy Vickery and Don Vickery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 6:00p..m. to 8:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 1:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Harold Fowler officiating. Interment in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, Texas.

Mary Elizabeth Molina Ortiz

Mary Elizabeth Molina Ortiz of Coy City, Texas gained her angel wings on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the age of 47, in her home. Mary Elizabeth was born to the late Jose(Joe) Diaz Molina and the late Maria (Mary) Inez Gonzales Molina on Thursday, May 16, 1974 in Rotan, Texas.

Mary, also known as Lisa, Libby, Elisa, Tita, Mija, Pumpkin and of course Mom, wore many hats throughout her life, one which included her caring and helping raise her cousins: Patty Segura Bell, Desiree Segura Badilla and Kyara Martinez whom she considered and loved like sisters as well as:Robert Martinez, Armando (A.J.) Segura, Justin Segura and Andy Segura whom she saw like brothers. Bu the greatest joy and apple of her eye were her children, Estrella (Sissi) and Jesus (Buddy) who she absolutely adored, along side Patty’s and Desi’s babies, Emberlee Bell, and Reyna and baby Ovi (as she called him) Badillo who always seemed to brighten her day and/or put a smile on her face. Lisa was a Karnes City High School graduate and had a degree in Business. She was a very smart, creative, crafty, caring and loving person who held many different jobs throughout her life. A woman of many talents for sure. An Entrepreneur, starting her own business alongside her mom many years ago, called “Crafty Ladies”, she specialized in seasonal and any occasion wreaths, mums, different crochet items and more.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents; Jose (Joe) Diaz Molina and Maria (Mary) Inez Gonzales Molina; her brother,  Jose Molina Jr.;  baby cousin, Robert Molina; paternal grandparents, Santos and Olegaria Diaz Molina; and maternal grandfather,  Ramon Gonzales Sr.

She is survived by her children, (daughter) Estrella Herlinda Ortiz and (Son) Jesus Jose Ortiz; maternal grandmother, Odilia G. Gonzales; multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 28,2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Jim Cummings officiating. Inurnment to follow in Nell Cemetery, Nell, TX.

Nettie Mae Remmers

Nettie Mae Remmers, of Kenedy, Texas was born on October 16, 1942 in Gillett, Texas to William and Ruby Hall passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at the age of 78.

Nettie graduated from Karnes City High School in May of 1961. She married Robert Louis “Bobby” Remmers on June 2, 1961. Nettie was a devoted wife and loving mother.

She and Bobby enjoyed dancing, working cattle and loved fishing. After his passing, she entered the workforce and worked as a Special Ed Aide for Kenedy I.S.D. for 16 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister: Marceline Marbach and brother: William A. “Jiggs” Hall.

She is survived by her daughters: Ruby “Dee Dee” Remmers, Stacy (Kody) Kanak, and Brandi (David) Blevins. Grandchildren: Josh Decas, Zachary Decas, Kendall Kanak, Lincoln Blevins, Brooklyn Blevins and Maverick Blevins; great grandchildren: Jayton Cole Decas and Jalynn Decas; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 one hour prior (8:00a.m. ) at the Kenedy Cemetery with Graveside Services beginning promptly at 9:00a.m.at the Kenedy Cemetery with Rev. Wally Schievelbein of Good Shepherd Lutheran officiating and Krista Morgan as vocalist.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kody Kanak, Kendall Kanak, David Blevins, Joshua Decas, Charlie Brzozwski, Gene Donnell, Bubba Lamza and Kent Morris.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Special Olympics.

 

Jeffery Wright Hill

Jeffery Wright Hill of Karnes City, Texas was born on February 10, 1946 in Baytown, Texas to Ezekiel Wright and Maurice Gregory Wright went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2021 at the age of 75. Jeffery was a member and pianist of New Beginnings in Gillett, TX and was a avid San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys Fan. She was preceded in death by her husband 0f 45 years Charles who passed on October 2, 2017. She is also preceded her brother: Allen Theodore Wright and her sister-in-law: Betty (Perry ) Davidson.  She is survived by her daughters: Relanda Wright Spriggins of Baytown, TX, Demetria Wright (John)Roberson, of Houston, TX, Tonja Wright (Michael) Gillard, Richmond, TX; stepsons: Charles Hill Jr. and Charles Edward Brown and like a daughter: Delencia Hill; 13 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren; sister: Annie Bell Wright; sister-in-law: Minnie Wright  and other relatives. Visitation will be held on  Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 12:00p.m. with Funeral services beginning at 1:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Gregory Griffin  and Rev. Preston Benson officiating. Interment to follow in the Karnes City Cemetery.
