Louis Sotelo aka Luis Sotelo

Louis Sotelo of Kenedy, Texas was born on August 5, 1951 in Three Rivers, TX to Hijinio Sotelo and Marcela Leora Sotelo passed away on November 19, 2021 at the age of 70. Mr. Sotelo had worked for Valero and also assisted as a Driver for Meals on Wheels. He is preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers: Hijinio and Alex; sisters: Delia, Sandra, and Diana. He survived by his wife of 41 years: Adelita Flores Sotelo of Kenedy, Texas; his sister Mary Ann (George) Gonzalez of Ft. Worth, TX; five brothers: George Sotelo, Rene (Connie) Sotelo, Robert Sotelo, Steven Sotelo and Sixto Sotello; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 8:0a.m. to 11:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will begin promptly at 11:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Longoria officiating. Services to conclude in chapel.

Adelina “Rennie” Rodriguez Kern

Adelina “Rennie” Rodriguez Kern, Age 65 of Kenedy, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 15, 2021.  Rennie was born on July 24, 1956 in Kenedy to the late Saturnino, Sr. and Adelina Salais Rodriguez. She was a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend to many, of the Baptist Faith who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing bingo with her sisters and playing the local game rooms.  She is preceded in death by her husband Donald William Kern; parents, Saturnino, Sr. and Adelina Salais Rodriguez; son, Daniel Kern; brothers, Reynaldo Rodriguez, Ernie Rodriguez, and Raul S. Rodriguez, Sr.  She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Hernandez and husband Jesus of Kenedy, Christi Vera and husband Martin of Kenedy, Jo Ann Kern of Kenedy, Joyce Martinez of Kenedy; son, Reynaldo Kern of Kenedy; sisters, Yolanda, Maria, Josie, Frances, Connie, Geneva, Betty; brothers, Reymundo, Saturnino, Jr; 14 grandchildren, 5 greatgrandchildren and beloved partner Pacifico Martinez.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Chapel with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M.  Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Francisco Jesus Davila Jr.

Francisco Jesus Davila Jr. of Victoria, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX was born on March 1, 1959 in Kenedy, Texas to Francisco Jesus Davila and Josefina Vasquez Davila passed away on November 16, 2021 at the age of 62. Mr. Davila is survived by his wife Esmeralda; his daughter: Josephine Davila of Karnes City, TX; son: Francisco “Frankie” Jesus Davila Jr. of Karnes City, TX; 10 grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; sisters: Matilda D. Estrada of Karnes City, TX, Norma (Martin ) Zuniga, Dora Ann (Charlie ) Alvear, Helen Junco, David (Leticia ) Santos, Raymond (Belen) Salas, Johnny Santos and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at  our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Juan (Johnny) Barrera

Juan (Johnny) Barrera, age 70, of Centralia,Missouri  passed away on November 10, 2021 at University Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1951 in Kenedy, Texas; a son of Martin Barrera Sr. and Rosita Reyna Barrera.

As a young man, Johnny worked for many years managing restaurants in the San Antonio area as he strove to complete his education, first earning an associates degree in business from Bee County College, and then a degree in nursing from San Antonio College. Johnny worked as a Registered Nurse at Warm Springs Rehabilitation and Methodist Hospital in Texas for many years. After relocating to Missouri, he worked for 25 years as a registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab at University Hospitals and clinics.

Johnny loved everything involving farming, ranching, conservation and wildlife, including fishing, hunting, hiking, and caring for his horses, cattle, and dogs. Johnny also enjoyed grilling, listening to country music, traveling and most importantly spending time with his family.

Johnny is survived by his Mother: Rosita R. Barrera of Karnes City, Texas; three daughters:  Kim Saucedo (Rene) of San Antonio, TX; Nancy Messex of San Antonio, TX, Clarissa Barrera of Centralia, Missouri; a son: Jose Barrera of Centralia, Missouri; three sisters: Irene Tamez (Leonard) of Longview, TX, Arlene DeLosSantos (Rudy) of Victoria, TX and Angie Castillo (James) of Kenedy, TX; a Brother: Martin Barrera Jr. (Veronica) of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Jennifer, Gabrielle, Kimarie, Rene, Kylie, and Arianna; great grandchildren Vincent, Lucian, Loki and Kitty and numerous nieces and nephews. Juan was preceded by his father: Martin Barrera, Sr. and nephew Juan Mateo (Matt) Tamez.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19th, 2021 from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, TX. (Services to conclude at church). Private Inurnment to be held at a later date.

Tiofila Baldaramos

Tiofila Baldaramos, of Kenedy, Texas was born in Panna Maria, Texas on October 28, 1931 to Jose Acosta and  Diega Hernandez Acosta passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the age of 90. Tiofila was a devoted member of the Kenedy El Buen Samaritano Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Domingo Baldaramos. Survivors include her daughters: Maria Dix of San Antonio, TX ; Delma Sonnier of Louisiana, Sandra Bruce of Louisiana, Irene Hermes of Kenedy, TX; son: Luis Baldaramos of Kenedy,TX; sisters: Elvira Cano of Austin; brothers: Gilbert Urea, Ralph Acosta and Wally Acosta all of Austin, TX; loving grandchildren; numerous loving great and great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Prayer service at 6:00p.m. with Pastora Maria Vela officiating and a  Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services to be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with  Pastora Maria Vela officiating. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mark Stephen Huckman

 Mark Stephen Huckman was born in Houston, TX on Labor Day, September 7, 1964 to Geraldine Reeve Huckman and Michale Paul Huckman who was a student at the University of Texas Dental School.  Mark was welcomed by an older brother Michael Edward and in 1988 they welcomed Matthew Hill Huckman.  The family then moved to Beeville in 1968.  Mark attended St. Phillips kindergarten, R.A. Hall Elementary School, and A.C. Jones.  One of his teachers, Charlotte Sullivan Shepherd says, “Mark was, and still is one of my favorite students ever.  He was such a sweet kind young man with the most beautiful personality and a delight to teach.”  Mark graduated from Texas State University with a degree in computer science.  Mark’s professional career was in secure computer information software.  Mark married Julie Lang and together they adopted Jake Christian Huckman.  While Mark lived in Colorado they were ski and winter sport enthusiast.  When they moved to Lago Vista they became water sport enthusiasts spending every spare moment on Lake Lago Vista.  Mark passed unexpectedly and went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 10, 2021.  Mark is preceded in death by his father. Dr. Michael Paul Huckman.  Mark is survived by his mother, Rev. Jerry Huckman; step-father, Rev. Dr. Jack Myers; brothers, Michael Edward Huckman, Mathew Hill Huckman; aunt, Jackie Arvantinos and husband Chris and 8 nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with Memorial Services starting at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church, 715 N. Saint Mary’s Street, Beeville, TX.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Michael Edward Huckman, Matthew Hill Huckman, Mark Mayfield, Wayne Evans, Michael Paul Huckman, and Rev. Dr. Jack Myers.  Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Arvantinos and Matthew Hill Huckman, Jr.

Alice Fay Pullin

Alice Fay Pullin, 83, of Floresville and Taft, Texas,  went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 9, 2021.  Alice was born in Conroe, Texas on September 24, 1938 to Remus Tildon and Frances LaPearl Bradley Fultz.  She grew up riding her horse and running barefoot through the piney woods of east Texas, never before having seen the ocean until she moved with her family to Aransas Pass in 1950. Her parents took the job of caretaker/cook/outfitter for the Mission Mfg. hunting and fishing lodge located on the sea wall in Aransas Pass. She learned to swim in the channel and her love of the ocean was born. A few years later the family moved to Gregory and she attended Taft High School where she met the love of her life, Joe Ed.  During their courtship and throughout their married life Alice and Joe shared their love for the outdoors. She loved to ride horses, hunt and fish and lately loved watching the deer each morning and the cattle in the evening.  Alice was the underlying support, encouragement and partner to Joe in each and every of his many business endeavors. She kept the books and would do whatever he needed. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a fierce defender of her family. She was an excellent cook and if you showed up at mealtime she would set an extra plate and insist you stay and eat because she always had plenty.  She looked forward to harvest season and enjoyed taking supper to the field.  She had the spirit of adventure, never afraid to try new things.  Her love of horses was passed down to her children and she trained the horses they rode in youth rodeo.  She was a seamstress, sewing countless western outfits and costumes, Wendy’s twirling uniforms, Brenda’s cheerleading uniforms, matching house coats for the grandchildren and even a wedding gown for a 5-year old just to name a few!    She loved to travel.  She became a certified scuba diver at age 45 and has enjoyed diving with friends and family for over 30 years. She was an avid collector of seashells and enjoyed attending the Conchologists of America annual conventions and was happy sharing her knowledge and collection with anyone who was interested.  She is survived by her husband Joe E. Pullin of 62 years, children Wendy F. Pullin of Corpus Christi, Brenda P. McElwee (Ross) of Aransas Pass, and Joe E. Pullin (Leslie) of Taft. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Jody Nixon (Marina) of Pleasanton, Holly Clark (Clinton) of Aransas Pass, Lacey Hogan (Ryan) of Bryan, Kate Low (Reid) of Port Aransas, Russell McElwee of San Antonio, Tommy Pullin (Kassity) of Sinton, Emily Jimene (Cruz) of Portland, Justin Pullin and Audrey Pullin both from Taft, ten great grandchildren, four nieces, a nephew and many great nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Frances Walterine “Sissy” Hoskinson and brother Ernest Bradley Fultz.

 

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Services beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Willis Moore officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

 

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jody Nixon, Russell McElwee, Tommy Pullin, Justin Pullin, Clinton Clark, Ryan Hogan and Reid Low.

Mary Lucille Rosebrock

Mrs. Mary Lucille Rosebrock, 79, of Kilgore, Texas passed away at her home in Kilgore on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Mary Lucille was born on September 9, 1942 in Kenedy, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Chester Allen and Lucille Ainsworth Thames. After high school, Mary attended the University of Texas in Austin. When her children were older, she completed her education at the University of Texas in Tyler. Mrs. Rosebrock was an educator for 39 years. Most of her teaching years were spent at West Rusk School in New London and in later years she taught at Leverett’s Chapel. When she was younger, she and her late husband Bill enjoyed traveling. Mary Lucille always enjoyed her time spent with her family and many friends. Mrs. Rosebrock was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Arthur “Bill” Rosebrock; and her son, Troy Scott Rosebrock. She is survived by her son: Trey Rosebrock off Kilgore, TX; grandchildren: Katharine Ruschhaupt and husband Cameron of Dallas, TX and William Rosebrock and wife Sarah of Wylie,TX; great granddaughter: Collins Lucille Ruschhaupt; brother: C. Allen Thames of Houston,TX; sister: Judy Entzminger of Plano, TX; nephew: Tripp Entzminger; niece, Cherri Little; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Lana and Les Lagerquist of Tomball,TX; and many friends. Graveside (Inurnment) Services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at Kenedy Cemetery with Rev. Richard Robinson officiating. Raul S. Rodriguez, Sr.

Raul S. Rodriguez,  Age 61 of Kenedy, TX passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 26, 2021. Raul was born on May 18, 1960 in Kenedy, TX to the late Saturnino, Sr and Adelina Salais Rodriguez.  Raul enjoyed spending time with his children, and his princess Riley. He also enjoyed dancing, fishing and the game room. Raul was a loving father, brother, uncle, friend to many and of the Catholic Faith.  Raul is survived by his two sons, Raul Jr., James Daniel; daughter, Allison Dominique Rodriguez; his granddaughter, Riley Yzavella Rodriguez; sisters, Yolanda, Lupe, Josie, Frances, Renee, Connie, Geneva and Betty; brothers, Reymundo, Saturnino, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Raul is preceded in death by his parents, Saturnino and Adelina Salais Rodriguez   and brothers, Reynaldo and Ernie Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Holy Rosary Services to begin at 12:00 P.M. with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Leonard C. Ables Jr.

Leonard C. Ables Jr. of Meadowlakes, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX was born on February 10, 1925 in Karnes County, Texas to Leonard Caswell Ables Sr. and Effie Pullin Ables  passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the age of 96. Leonard  and Ruth Appling Ables were married on February 14, 1945. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary before Ruth passed away on June 25th, 2020. Together they raised three children: Carolyn Ables (Leonard) Reiley of Meadowlakes, TX. Nelson Ables, deceased and Larry Ables of Helena, TX. Survivors also include: their grandchildren: Randy (Doris Hohn) Reiley of Helotes, TX, Deborah Reiley (Bruce) Head of Marshall, TX, Tracey Reiley (Shane) Demmer of Crowley, TX, Stephany Ables Roberston of Portland, TX, Lorrie Ables (Jeri) Singleton of Euless, TX and Kevin Ables of Karnes City, TX; great grandchildren: Tyler Reiley, Amanda Reiley Elder, Katheren Reiley, Ethan Head, Emily Head, Rylie Robertson, Reagan Roberston, Reese Robertson, Ella Singleton, Olivia Singleton, Kyle Ables, Cody Ables, Mackenzie Demmer, Madison Demmer, Mason Demmer, Major Demmer; and great grandson: Lincoln Head. Leonard and Ruth lived the majority of their lives in Karnes County, Texas for many years running a dairy farm in Helena, TX. After closing the dairy, they moved into Kenedy, TX. Where Ruth worked as the bookeeper for Alamo Lumber Company for many years and Leonard enjoyed working for Alexander Ford Company. They enjoyed playing dominoes (42) with their friends. Leonard belonged to the “Do Nothing Club”, a group of men friends that met at the Dairy Queen in Kenedy every afternoon at three o’clock for coffee, where they had many laughs. Leonard and Ruth treasured their time on this earth in Kenedy, Texas. Their family and friends were the joy of living. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 with Rev. Matt Singleton officiating at the Kenedy Cemetery . Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Kenedy.
