Francisco “Frank” Gonzales

Francisco “Frank” Gonzales of San Antonio, TX passed away on October 19, 2021 in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Francisco Gonzales was born on September 26, 1949 in Karnes City, Texas to Jose Maria Gonzales Sr. and Antonia Garcia Gonzales. He married Alicia Gonzales at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Pawnee, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wenceslao Gonzales and his wife Alicia on June 1, 2020. Survivors include his daughters: Maria (Ozil) Salinas of San Antonio, TX,  Norma (Amy Brooks) Gonzales of Fort Worth, TX and Antonia Marie Gonzales of San Antonio, TX; one grandson: Ozil C. (Trey) Salinas, III ; many extended grandchildren; sisters: Margaret (Jimmy) DeLeon of Pawnee, TX and Alice (Leon) Villanueva of Kingsville, TX; brothers: Genaro Gonzales of San Antonio, TX, Roberto (Gloria) Gonzales of Pawnee, TX, Marcos (Elena) Gonzales f Karnes City, TX, Domingo (Dora) Gonzales of Natalia, TX, Jose Maria (Elizabeth) Gonzales Jr. of Pawnee, TX; numerous nieces nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 1:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. Thursday Evening at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pawnee, Texas with Rev. Rysard Zielinski officiating. Services to conclude at Church. U.S. Army Flag Presentation to daughter: Norma Christina Gonzales at the end of Mass. Private Inurnment at a later date. Reception following at Parish Hall. Carlos G. Zuniga

Carlos G. Zuniga, Age 83, of Kenedy, TX, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Carlos was born on April 27, 1938 in Kenedy to the late Manuel H. and Maria Garza Zuniga. Carlos was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  He was a business owner having owned Zuniga’s Grocery Store, The Monterrey Hall, The Playmor, and various other ventures and partnerships.  He served his country proudly in the U.S. ARMY and was of the Catholic Faith.

Carlos had a natural athletic ability and played several sports in high school.  He loved traveling to Las Vegas any chance he could, where you would most likely find him at the craps table.  He also had a passion for playing pool and was known by many as one of the best. He was a good friend to so many people from so many walks of life, and was always willing to help those in tough times.  He had an incredible sense of humor and loved to tell stories and jokes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel H. and Maria Garza Zuniga.

He is survived by his daughters, Marisa Zuniga of Houston, Julissa Zuniga of Selma; grandson, Aaron Hernandez of Selma; brother, Dr. Oscar Zuniga of Austin and a number nieces, nephews, family and beloved friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:30 A.M. followed by Funeral Mass being celebrated at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanislaw Marciniak officiating.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Serving as Pallbearers will be: Jorge Gonzales, Raul Santos, Roland Santos, Joe Foster, Robert Vidaurri, James Sutton, and Michael Arrieta.

Minerva DeLeon Alvarado

Minerva DeLeon Alvarado, Age 84, of Pawnee, TX passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 in San Antonio, TX.  Minerva was born on January 18, 1937 in Pawnee, TX to the late Moises and Manuela Munoz Deleon.  She married Enrique Alvarado, Sr.  on August 24, 1954 in New Mexico who preceded her in death on October 9, 2003. Minerva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, friend to many and a devout member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pawnee, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents Moises and Manuela Munoz DeLeon; husband, Enrique Alvarado, Sr.; brothers, Heriberto “Beto” Deleon, Alvaro “Varo” DeLeon and Oscar “Cale” DeLeon.

She is survived by her daughters, Maria Sylvia Padron and husband Fabian of Karnes City, Rosa “Rosie” Reyna and husband Ramon of Kenedy, Adelita Alvarado and James Barrientez of Karnes City; sons, Enrique Alvarado, Jr. of Pawnee, Agapito Alvarado and wife Olga of Kenedy, Adolfo “Duffy” Alvarado and wife Erlinda of Beeville; brother Juan DeLeon of Waco, 28 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pawnee, TX with the Rev. Richard Zielinski officiating.  Interment will follow in the De Ntra Sra De Guadalupe Cemetery in Pawnee, TX.

Serving as Pallbearers will be her loving grandsons: Jimmy Morales, Jr., Agapito Alvarado, Jr., Randy Alvarado, Ethan Alvarado, James Henry Alvarado and Leonardo Morin.

Edward Anthony Cisneros, Jr.

Edward Anthony Cisneros, Jr., Age 45 of Woodsboro, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021.  Edward was born on April 26, 1976 in Sinton, TX to Sylvia Casarez Cisneros and the Late Edward Cisneros, Sr.  He was a Teacher for Woodsboro ISD, the Head Baseball Coach for the Woodsboro Eagles, a loving son, brother, uncle, friend to many and of the Catholic Faith.  Edward is preceded in death by his father, Edward Cisneros, Sr.  Edward is survived by his loving mother, Sylvia Casarez Cisneros of Kenedy, TX; brother, D.J. Cisneros and wife Amelia of Corpus Christi, nieces, Jennifer, Jalessa, Jordan all of Corpus Christi and a host of family and dear friends.  Family Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.  with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:30 A.M. and Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 11:00 A.M at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Adan Rios

Adan Rios of Kenedy, Texas was born on March 15, 1936 in Choate Texas to Theodoro Rios and Hilaria Garza Rios passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85. Mr. Rios is preceded in death by his parents, Theodoro and Hilaria Garza Rios;  his son: Antonio Rios, his sisters: Mary R. Gonzales and Eva Castillo, his brothers: Elias Rios and Eusebio Rios. He is survived by his daughter: Janice DeLeon; his sons: Adan Rios Jr and wife Connie, and Roman Joe Rios; his sister: Manuela R. Solis; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; numerous nieces to include: Rebecca S. Diaz; numerous nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 1:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. A Rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Interment to follow in Loma Alta Cemetery. Sharon Custer

Sharon Elizabeth Donnell Custer, Age 72 of Choate, TX passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 in Victoria, TX.  Sharon was born on March 6, 1949 in Choate, TX to the late William Arthur and Vine Elizabeth Braun Donnell.  She married Len Elwood Custer, Jr on July, 23, 1955 in Karnes City, TX.  She worked at Barth’s Restaurant and HEB meat market.  Sharon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a member of Choate Baptist Church.  She is preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur and Vine Elizabeth Braun Donnell; sister, Betty Sue Waide; and brothers, William Ernest “Butch” Donnell and Dwayne “Rusty” Donnell.  She is survived by her loving husband, Len Elwood Custer, Jr. of Choate, TX; daughter, Sherri Custer Garcia and husband Andres of Kingsville, TX; son, Len Elwood Custer, III and wife Sheila of Kenedy, TX; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Sharon loved taking vacations, especially to Graceland to see all of the memorabilia of Elvis Presley with her daughter Sherri and grandkids.  On one vacation to Nashville, she was able to get autographs from Garth Brooks, John Michael Montgomery, and Toby Keith.  These vacations were the highlight in her life, besides watching her children grow up and have grandchildren.  Sharon, also known as Nana, was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   Sharon never missed a birthday; she always sent a card or called her children and grandchildren personally on the phone.  Sharon loved to cook, and a lot of her famous recipes are still being shared by her family, especially her fudge and dressing.  Her secret recipes have been passed down and are used every Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Sharon raised her children to be hard-workers, great parents, and to have faith in God.  She will be missed dearly by the family, but at the end of the day, the faith she taught her family will continue on.

PRIVATE SERVICES will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Choate Cemetery with the Brother. Aaron Corporon officiating.

Olivia G. Diaz

Olivia G. Diaz 97 years, of Beeville, TX was called home by the Lord October 2, 2021.  Olivia Diaz was born on April 9, 1924 in Yorktown, TX to Remigio and Maria (Ochoa) Garcia.  She married Cecilio V. Diaz on January of 1947 in Karnes City, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Remigio and Maria (Ochoa) Garcia; husband, Cecilio V. Diaz; son, Ernnesto Diaz; siblings, Manuela Reyes, Guadalupe “Lupe” Ortiz, Maria G. Farias, and Rufino O. Garcia.

She is survived by her daughters, Angelita Aranda and husband Nicolas, Patricia Trevino and husband Onesimo; sons, Esvardo G. “Sonny” Diaz, Cecilio Diaz, Jr and wife Olga; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen DeLaGarza, Eloisa Sauceda, Frances Saenz and nieces and nephews who surrounded her with their love.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 from 9AM to 10AM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:00 A.M. followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kenedy, TX with the Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating.  Interment will follow at the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

David Syring

David Syring, beloved son to Louella Ruth Syring of Kenedy, Texas was born on September 2, 1948 passed away on October 25, 2020 at the age of 72. David’s Graveside services were held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 10:30a.m. at the Kenedy Cemetery with Rev. Danielle Knapp of the Karnes City United Methodist Church officiating and Bil Homemeyer, guitarist/vocalist. David’s brother: Robert Edward Syring  expressed his thanks to those in attendance as we celebrated the life of David. Louella was surrounded by family and was beyond words as we joined her in honoring her son one last time. His cremated remains were placed at the right of her monument in the Syring lot.

Ray Leonard “Baby Boy” Ramirez

Ray Leonard “Baby Boy” Ramirez of Villa Ridge, Missouri formerly of Kenedy, Texas was born on April 25, 1989 and passed on September 11, 2021 at the age of 32. “Baby Ray is survived by his mother: Elvira Ramirez. His Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Charles officiating. Services to conclude in chapel.

Mary G. Perez

Mary G. Perez, of Slaton, Texas was born on November 21, 1937 to Ynez R. Albiar Sr. and Sofia G. Albiar passed away on September 3, 2021 at the age of 84. She was a beloved mother to Marie Perez. Mary’s family had a lovely Graveside Service at Loma Alta Cemetery on Saturday, September 25, 2021 with family in attendance. Her services were led by her granddaughter, Mary Beth Perez of North Carolina. Her cremated remains were placed at the foot of her mother’s grave. Cremation Services were handled by Guajardo Funeral Home in Lubbock and Graveside services under the direction of Eckols Funeral Home, Inc. of Kenedy, Texas.
