Rhode Tyrone, Sr.

RT2Rhode Tyrone Sr. of Kenedy, TX, born on July 9, 1924 to Lawrence and Mozetta (Grant) Tyrone in Straton, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the age of 92. Mr. Tyrone is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Tyrone, Sr., his mother, Mozetta Grant, six (6) brothers: Curtis Tyrone Sr., Sylvester Tyrone, Charlie Reed, Milton Tyrone, Ben Ernest Tyrone Sr., Lawrence Tyrone Jr. and one (1) sister, Mae Katherine Brown.  He leaves a legacy of family members behind, being survived by his wife of 67 years, Willie Mae (Banks) Tyrone; two (2) sons: Rhode Tyrone Jr. – Kenedy, Texas and Lawrence [Gabriela] Tyrone – Skidmore, Texas; and a daughter: Linda Tyrone-Williams – Kenedy, Texas; seven (7) grandchildren: Laveena Tyrone, Laniece Watts, Diamond Alexander, Ronel Alexander, Jazmine Tyrone, Daniel Tyrone and Jo Anna Tyrone; seven (7) great-grandchildren: Jamarcus Tyrone, Destiny Jarvis, DeVaundre Wesley, Christan Henderson, Damion Wesley, Daisharae Pittman, and D’Yionna Pittman; one (1) brother: Willie [Shirley] Reed – Detroit Michigan; four (4) sisters: Mildred Groce – Dallas Texas, Cleola Kizzee – Waller, Texas, Leola Gross – Dallas Texas,  and Mozetta “Gracie” Ellison – Houston, Texas; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.  Visitation was held on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 3pm to 8pm at Eckols Chapel.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10am with Chaplain Lydia Vallejo officiating.  Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Pallbearers:  Rhode Tyrone Jr., Lawrence Tyrone, Laniece Watts, Jamarcus Tyrone, Willie Pleasant, DeVaundre Wesley, and Damion Wesley.

Juan F. Rios, Jr.

Juan F. Rios, Age 69 of Kenedy, TX passed away on March 13, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. Juan was born on January 31, 1948 in Runge, TX to  Juan, Sr. and Francis Fonseca Rios.  He married Hortencia Fernandez on December 5, 1969 in Runge, TX, was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, a Veteran of the US ARMY, served his country proudly in the Vietnam War and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.   Juan is preceded in death by his wife, Hortencia Fernandez Rios; Father, Juan Rios Sr. and sister, Mary Lou Medina.  Juan is survived by his mother, Francis Fonseca Rios of Runge; daughter, Debra Ann Rios of Kenedy; sons, David John Rios and wife Janet of Tucson, AZ, Julian Rene Rios of San Antonio, 5 Grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren.  A Rosary will be recited Friday, March 17, 2017 at 7PM in the Eckols Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Runge Cemetery.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Julian Rios, Jr., Domenyck Rios, Anthony Villanueva, Mark Villanueva, Jerry Bryan, and John Bryan

Lillian Hyatt Cox, Age 90 of Agua Dulce, TX passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 in Corpus Christi, TX. Lillian was born on July 10, 1926 in Gillett, TX to the late Jess McCoy and Bessie Lula Flowers Hyatt.  She was a devout member of Agua Dulce Baptist Church and a homemaker.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Otis “Cotton” Cox; parents, Jess McCoy and Bessie Lula Flowers Hyatt; sisters, Robbie Pope, Winnie Wood, Elizabeth Melvin; brothers, Jack B. Hyatt and Jess McCoy Hyatt, Jr.  She is survived by her daughter, Becky Ballard of Mathis; son, Mike Cox of Agua Dulce; grandchildren, Kelly Tovar, Sarah Hawkins, Vanessa Manners, Dennis Cox, Hunter Cox, Austin Cox; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Agua Dulce Baptist Church. Services will be Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11AM at the Agua Dulce Baptist Church with  Pastor Ed Griffin officiating.  Interment will be in the Kenedy Cemetery at 3PM in the Kenedy, TX.  Serving as Pallbearers will be Dennis Cox, Hunter Cox, Austin Cox, Justin Hawkins, J.T. Vasquez, and William Westbrook.  Honorary Pallbearers are Mack Maples and Rudy Corral.

Daniel Raul Garza, of Kenedy, TX was born on September 9, 1934 in Runge, TX to Baldomera and Felipe Garza passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the age of 82. Daniel was the owner of Dan’s Chevron on Main St. in Kenedy, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Jesus, Isaias and Bernabe Garza and two sisters, Rebecca Ocania and Emma Villanueva. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Graciela Garza; his three sons, Daniel Raul Garza, Jr. and wife Ida, of Kenedy, TX, Felipe B. Garza and wife Rose Mary, of Plano, TX and Jaime Garza and wife Darlene, of San Antonio, TX; 8 grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Garcez and husband Domingo, of Kenedy, TX; brother, Elijio Garza and wife Rose, of Clovis, NM and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with a Prayer Service at 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with interment in Loma Alta Cemetery.

Royleene B. Bevel

Royleene B. Bevel, Age 77 of Kenedy, TX passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in Kenedy, TX.   Royleene was born on February 2, 1940 in Kenedy to the late Roy and Agda Froling Jacobson.  At an early age, she hung out with her dad at Kaufmann Motor CO. or the local movie until her mom got off work at the hospital. In her school years, she was in the band, started with the clarinet and moved up to the bass clarinet and also played basketball.  She played the piano at the First Baptist Church where she also served as a teacher, choir member and served on several of the church committees. She married Jack Bevel on May 16, 1959 in Kenedy, TX and stayed and worked in Kenedy at the hospital until December of that year. Among her years travelling all over with her husband, she volunteered for the Army Community Service multiple times, up until 1979 where she worked for an insurance company up until their move back to Germany in 1982 where she worked as a clerk for the Red Cross Office in Aschafenberfg and served as Senior Enlisted advisor to women. Royleene retired from the State of Texas WIC Program after 25 years of service last summer due to health concerns.

She is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Agda Froling Jacobson, and grandson Jonathan Hackney.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Bevel; daughters, Shirlene Hackney and husband Kent, Laurie McCarley; sons, Jackie Bevel, Jr and wife Shawnna, Jeffrey Bevel and wife Elizabeth; sister, Shirley Hutchins and husband Bob, grandchildren, Miranda Bevel, Sarah Bevel, Jessica Hackney (Miguel Guerrero), Jennifer McCarley, Kaitlyn Bevel; great-grandchildren Jordan and Taylor Guerrero and Liam Nash.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2017 from 5PM to 7PM in the Eckols Chapel. Services will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10AM in the Eckols Chapel with Bob Hutchins officiating.  Interment will be in the Kenedy Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Miguel Guerrero, Lorenzo Saenz, George Majefski, Joseph Matte, Jordan Guerrero, Brad Bevel, and Berl Bevel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Class of 1958, Staff of WIC in Kenedy, and Liam Nash.

Grace Hollan Aguirre

Grace Hollan Aguirre, Age 75 of Kenedy, TX passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. Grace was born on January 20, 1942 in Kenedy, TX to Jimmie Hollan and the late Pauline Martinez Hollan.  Grace was a beautician who owned and operated Gracie’s Beauty Salon before her retirement; a devout member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church; a O.L.Q.O.P Guadalupana, a O.LQ.O.P Eucharistic Mininster, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.  Grace is preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Martinez Hollan.  Grace is survived by her loving husband, Armando G. Aguirre of Kenedy; father, Jimmie Hollan of Kenedy; sons, Gino Aguirre and wife Deborah of Port Lavaca, Dennis Aguirre and wife Laura of Spring, John Aguirre and wife Mary Alice of Kenedy; sisters, Alice Cantu of Beeville, Helen Gutierrez of Temple; grandchildren, Allyson Aguirre, Andrew Aguirre, Hank Aguirre, Anderson Aguirre, Hayley Blomquist, Emily Blomquist; great-grandson, Sebastian Aguirre and a host of nieces and nephews.  Family Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 5PM to 7PM with a Holy Rosary recited at 7PM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Mildred L. Kanak

Mildred was born on August 27, 1935 to the late Clinton Day “Skinner” and Mozelle Owens Stuart in Eastland, TX. On June 3, 1956 she married A.L. Kanak in Pettus, TX who preceded her in death on January 31, 2016.  Mildred was a retired secretary, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, a member of First Christian Church and the first lady elected to the Pettus I.S.D School Board.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Kanak; parents, Clinton Day “Skinner” and Mozelle Owens Stuart.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Clinton Kanak and wife Jimmie of Canyon Lake, TX, Kevin Kanak of Corpus Christi, TX, Kody Kanak and wife Stacy of Kenedy, TX; a brother, J.E. Stuart and wife Delma of Luling, TX; Grandchildren, Kellen, Bryce, Kristy, Craig and Kendall and Great-Grandson Ezekiel.

Family Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 5PM to 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wally Schievelbein officiating.   Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

Ira Lynn Dubose

Lynn was born on December 11, 1946 in   Beeville, TX to the late Ira William and Lois Inez Wren Dubose.  He married Barbara Hawkins in 1966 in Beeville, TX.  Lynn retired from Feather Lite Construction Company, was an avid cattle rancher operating Escondido Ranches in Pawnee, actively involved in the American Black Hereford Association and the Texas Black Hereford Association, of the Church of Christ Faith and a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend to many.   Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, Ira William and Lois Inez Wren Dubose and grandchildren Paisley Inez and Pascale Cole DuBose.  Lynn is survived by his wife, Barbara H. DuBose of Pawnee; sons, Duane DuBose of Pawnee, Wesley DuBose and wife Jenn of Pawnee; brother, Dale DuBose of Corpus Christi; and grandchildren Katie Lynn and William Warren Cole DuBose of Pawnee.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 6PM to 8PM in the Eckols Chapel. Matias A. Gonzales, Sr.

Matias A. Gonzales, Age 72, of Kenedy, TX passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 in Kenedy, TX. Matias was born on January 24, 1945 in Nell, TX to the late Jesus and Guadalupe Alaniz Gonzales.  Matias was a retired heavy equipment/truck driver for Camino Construction Company, a devout member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a member of the O.L.Q.O.P Spanish Choir.  In 1971 he married Aurora Davila in Karnes City, TX.  He is a preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Guadalupe Alaniz Gonzales; sister Martha Hernandez; brothers, Antonio A. Gonzales and Benito A. Gonzales.  He is survived by his loving wife, Aurora Davila Gonzales of Kenedy; son Matias Gonzales, Jr. and wife Martha of Kenedy; sister, Agarita Cortez and husband Florentino of Pawnee; brothers, Felix A. Gonzales of Three Rivers, Juan A. Gonzales and wife Modesta of Coy City, Miguel A. Gonzales and wife Janie of Coy City; grandchildren, Gabriel Gonzales and Matias Gonzales, III of Kenedy and host of nieces, nephews and friends.  A Holy Rosary will be recited Monday, February 6, 2017 at 7:30 PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Carmen J. Hines

Carmen J. Hines, Age 79, of Pawnee, TX passed away on January 29, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Carmen was born on August 12, 1937 in Bleiblerville, TX to the late Rudolph H. and Norma  Sturm Bayer.  On March 27, 1959 she married Donald Hines in Castroville,TX.  She enjoyed 58 years with the man of her dreams and together they built a life of farming and ranching. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and creating patterns of new designs.   She retired from the F.B.I after 30 years of service, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pawnee, where she loved to sing and was on numerous committees.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph H and Norma Sturm Bayer; a brother, Ralph Bayer and a granddaughter Amelia Mayfield.  She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Hines; daughters, Donna Bartels and husband Hilmer of MCQueeny,and the father of her children Donald Rylant, Cynthia Mayfield and husband Paul of La Vernia; sons, William Hines of LaVernia, mother of his sons Jennifer Hines, William’s special friend Lisa Hellman, James Hines and wife Marla of Yukon, OK; sister, Dorothy Kothman of Dime Box; 11 grandchildren Dawna and Dustin Poe, Dana and Jason Austin , Katie and Luke Ryan, Matthew Mayfield, William Cody Hines, William Beau Hines, Craig Drury Hines, Cheyenne Hines, Channa Hines, Chalee Hines and Chelsey Hines.   9 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Jayden, Emma, Liam, Whitney, Anastasia, Cierra, Dylan and Charlie.  Numerous nieces and nephews.  Family Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 6PM to 8PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.
