Sara “Nana” Ann Sosa of Kenedy, Texas was born on June 19, 1969 in Waukegan, IL passed away on November 20, 2020 at the age of 51. Sara was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Sosa Lara and Infant brother Demetrio Sosa Jr. She is survived by her life time partner: Thomas Villanueva of Kenedy, TX; her parents: Josie and Demetrio Sosa Sr. of Kenedy, TX; her daughter: Sierra Garza of San Antonio,TX; sons: Tristan Villarreal of Kenedy, TX and Ty Villanueva of Kenedy, TX; four grandchildren: Heaven Garza, Haislie Garza, Haistin Garza, Mia Villarreal of Kenedy, TX; sisters: Sandra Sosa Salinas, Samantha Salinas, Stacy (Amado) Cruz, of Kenedy, TX, Frances Nava, Mary Ann Sosa; brothers: Santiago Sosa, Demetrio (Brandi) Sosa Jr. of Kenedy,TX and Edward Sosa; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 9:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Graveside  services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 10:00a.m. at the Loma Alta Cemetery with Rev. Matt Singleton officiating. Interment to follow in Loma Alta Cemetery. Evaristo Vera Jr.

Evaristo Vera Jr. of Kenedy, Texas born on November 4, 1940 in Charco, Texas to Evaristo Vera Sr. and Elvira Hernandez Vera passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the age of 80. Mr. Evaristo is preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters: Elvira Taylor and Rita Venecia, brother: Luis Vera; and grandson: Fidencio Martin Vera. He is survived by his wife of Beatrice Vera of Kenedy, TX; his sons: Rick Vera of Kenedy, TX, Martin (Christi) Vera of Kenedy, TX and Frank (Viviana) Vera of Karnes City, TX; one grandson, Frank Vera Jr. of Karnes City, TX and a brother: Rafael Vera of Alice, TX; and other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with Funeral Services beginning promptly at 3:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel with Rev. Honorio Velazquez Sr. officiating. Interment to follow in Loma Alta Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his sons: Rick Vera, Martin Vera, and Frank Vera along with A.B. Castaneda, Hector Mendoza, and Joey Salais.

Joe D. Molina

Joe (Jose) D. Molina, Age 68 of Karnes City, TX passed away on October 29, 2020 in Kenedy, TX. Joe was born on April 3, 1952 in Coy City to the late Santos, Sr. and Olegaria Diaz Molina. He was an Oil Field Supervisor most of his life and in his later years worked as an Agricultural Technician for Krause Ag Services; he was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend to many and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Karnes City, TX.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife Mary Molina; parents, Santos, Sr. and Olegaria Diaz Molina; and sons, Joe Molina, Jr; Robert Molina.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Mary Elizabeth Ortiz of Karnes City, Patricia Bell and husband Robert of Kenedy, Desiree Badillo and husband Salvador of Conroe, Kyara Martinez of Kenedy; son Heberto Martinez and wife Pompoza, of Kenedy; sisters, Janie Wheeler of Kenedy, Lola Maldonado of Lampasas, Vicenta Mendoza of Victoria, brothers, Frank Martinez of Karnes City, Gavriel Molina of Kenedy, Johnny Molina of Beeville and Santos Molina, Jr. of Kenedy; grandchildren, Estrella Herlinda Ortiz, Jesus Jose Ortiz, Emberlee Anne Bell, Reyna Badillo, Tatum Kobe Ramos, Paul Anthony Rodriguez, and Selena Rose Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Adyson Jayde Barrientez, Zaida Betty Rodriguez, and Paxton Anthony Rodriguez; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 9A.M. to 11A.M. with Memorial Services at 11:00 A.M. in the Eckols Chapel with the Rev. Jim Cummings officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Nell Cemetery with graveside services by Mr. Randy Witte in Nell, TX.

Oralia M. Gonzales

Oralia M. Gonzales, Age 82, of Pawnee, Texas was born on May 26, 1938 in Bee County, TX to Gregorio Martinez and Maria Campos Martinez passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 in Karnes City, TX at the age of 82 . Oralia is preceded in death by her husband Lorenzo Gonzales, Jr; daughter Clara Duenes; and sons, Leonires Gonzales, Juan Leonel Gonzales and numerous sisters and brothers. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Gutierrrez, of Kenedy, TX, Lorenzo (Lupe Ramirez) Gonzales III of Beeville, TX, Flora (Ignacio Jr.) Rodriguez of McAllen, TX, Lydia (Raul Duenez) Gonzales, of Austin, TX, Rebecca (Ramiro) G. Tapia, of Pawnee, TX, Sara Gonzales of San Antonio, TX, Sylvia Gonzales, of San Antonio, Luis (Amy Nunez) Gonzales, of Pawnee, TX, Leonel (Maggie) Gonzales, of Kenedy, TX; 21 grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren; sister, Adela Gonzales of Three Rivers, TX; brothers, Vense (Adelma) Martinez of El Campo, TX and Adolph Martinez of Bryan, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 7PM in the Eckols Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 10AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Interment will follow at the Nell Cemetery in Nell, TX.

June Dybowski

June Dybowski, born on June 16, 1930 in Nixon, Texas to Carl Schnitz and Irene Schnitz passed away on November 8, 2020 at the age of 90. Mrs. Dybowski was preceded in death by her husband HR (Jerry) Dybowski and a son Bubba Black. Survivors include her sons: Donnie Black and wife Cindy of Wilcox, Arizona and  Davey Black and wife Tonia of Valera, TX; grandchildren: Jason Black, Cody Atkinson, Donnis Black and husband Jimmy, Levi Black and wife Suzie, Kye Black and wife Stephanie, Dustin Black and wife Stephanie, Duane Black, Derrick Black and wife Jivette; great grandchildren: Ryen, Travis, Ricky, Cash, Kassidy Kaybree, Colter, Kinley, Landri, Kelsi, Sophie, Darren, Chandler, Wyatt, Keith, Cody and Sarah; and other relatives. June was a nurse and caregiver all her adult life. She worked at the hospital in Yorktown and the  Kenedy and Karnes City nursing homes. She was a devoted caregiver to her husband Jerry’s brother caring for him in her own home till the day he passed. Her favorite past time was ranching and enjoyed it with her late husband Jerry. She was a devoted wife to Jerry caring for him when he had cancer and cared for him till the day he passed never leaving his side. Some of her happiest days were one she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a very plain spoken person and you never had to wonder what was on her mind. She was loved by all. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 10:00a.m. at Karnes County Memorial Park with Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

 

Esmeraldo Saenz

Esmeraldo Saenz, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior, November 1, 2020, at the Cottages at Danny Kaye in San Antonio. Esmeraldo was born in Kenedy, Texas and spent his youth years in Pettus, Texas where he graduated from high school. He went on to Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Math.

Esmeraldo was a beloved and dedicated entrepreneur who strived to make the world a better place by selling educational products for school children throughout Texas and New Mexico. He and his wife, Frances, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in September 2020. Esmeraldo was a loving, kind, smart, and generous Christian family man. He was loved by all who knew him, especially his family, friends, past employees and clients. Esmeraldo will be dearly missed.

Esmeraldo Saenz is survived by his loving wife, Frances Garcia Saenz, sons and daughters’in law, Robert and Debra Saenz, Leonard and Erin Saenz; grandchlildren: Logan, Rudy, Lauren, Macie, Lucia, Roman and Cody Saenz; his brother: Humberto Saenz, Jr. and family.

Esmeraldo will be laid to rest in Kenedy, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00P.M.  Friday, November 6, 2020 at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 605 Karnes St. Kenedy, Texas.

Kenneth Leroy Jones, Jr.

Kenneth Leroy Jones, Jr., Age 64 of Victoria, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX passed away in Victoria on October 26, 2020. Kenneth was born on April 4, 1956 in New Braunfels, TX to the late Kenneth Leroy, Sr and Ethel Hierholzer Jones. He married Mellani Atkinson on June 14, 1974 in Karnes City, TX; was the neighborhood handyman who never said no to anyone; loved to fish, ride his motorcycle, loved his family very much and was of the Baptist Faith.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Leroy, Sr. and Ethel Hierholzer Jones.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Mellani Atkinson Jones of Victoria; sons, Kenneth L. Jones, III and wife Jerrie Jones of Austin, Patrick Craig Jones and wife Lisa of Karnes City; grandsons, Coby Jones and wife Sonjah, Aaron Trevino and wife Hannah; granddaughter, Chelsea Jones; great-grandson, Karson Jones; great-granddaughter, Libby Jones and a host of family members.

Family Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 10AM to 12PM in the Eckols Chapel with Services beginning at 12PM in the Eckols Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Corporon officiating. Interment will follow in the Choate Cemetery in Choate, TX.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Len Custer, III, Lee Denney, Aaron Trevino, Brian Boelter, Charles Miller, Fernando Hernandez and Wesley Wright.

Rosie R. Salinas

Rosie R. Salinas of Rosie’s Flower Shop in Kenedy, Texas was born on July 25, 1934 in Pearsall, Texas and raised by Rosendo Botello and Amelia Domingo Botello passed away on October 20, 2020 at the age of 86. Rosie with her husband Presiliano “Pres” owned and operated Rosie’s Flower Shop; but their biggest joy was raising their children. She was preceded in death by her husband after 55 years of marriage. Survivors include her sons: Norman (Gennie) Salinas of Corpus Christi, Texas, Presiliano (Diane) Salinas Jr. of Hutto, TX, Seferin C. Salinas of Seguin, TX and Ray Allen (Martha) Rossett, of Kenedy, TX; sister: Oralia Menchaca of Pasco, WA; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 3:00p.m. at Loma Alta Cemetery. Procession to leave funeral home at 2:30p.m. in honor of all she did for our community. Pallbearers: Seferino Salinas Jr., Diego Salinas, Stephen Salinas, Ryan Salinas, Aaron Rossett, and J.T. Altamirano. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Ester C. Gonzales (Ciccy)

Ester C. Gonzales (Ciccy) passed peacefully surrounded by family on October 16, 2020 at the age of 61. Ciccy was born on July 19, 1959 to Rafael Garibay and Odelia D. Garibay (Lilly). Ciccy was born in Karnes City, Texas and resided in Pawnee, Texas and Eugene, Oregon. Ciccy was the eldest of 3 children, and found her calling in education, where she dedicated over 35 years of her life investing in children’s future.

Ciccy was proceeded in death by grandparents Guadalupe Deleon, Soledad Deleon; mother Odelia D. Garibay; brother in law Juan F. Salinas. She is survived by her brother Louis (Aimee) Garibay, and sister Terry Salinas, and nieces and nephews Caitlin Garibay, Madeline (Isaul) Ramos, Cody Garibay, Lindsay Garibay, Garrett Garibay, Mary Kay (Richard) Lopez, Victoria (Gabriel) Gutierrez, Andrea Salinas, John Louis (Katelyn) Salinas and many great nieces and nephews.

Family Visitation will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 9AM to 11AM with A Celebration of Life Service at 11AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Berthold officiating.

Maria Lourdes “LuLu” Janssen

Maria Lourdes “LuLu” Janssen, Age 93 of Kenedy, TX formerly of San Antonio, TX passed away on October 14, 2020. Maria was born on February 22, 1927 in Monterey Nuevo Leon, Mexico to the late Avilio Macotte and Socorro Rodriguez Sepulveda. Maria moved to the United States in 1960; she married George R. Janssen on Dec. 6, 1974 in San Antonio, TX; became a citizen on October 24, 1985; retired from Julian Gold as their seamstress in the mid 70’s and moved to Kenedy when her husband retired in 2000. Maria excelled in embroidery, knitting, and painting of all sorts from Texas Bluebonnets to Diego Rivera and his wife Freida, farm tractors, the Light houses of Padre Island and etc. She was a loving wife, aunt, sister, friend to many and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, George R. Jannsen; parents, Avilio Macotte and Socorro Rodriguez Sepulveda; sister Socorro Martinez; and brother, Avilio Rodriguez Sepulveda, Jr.

Maria is survived by her nieces and nephews, Lillie Alvarez and husband Teodoro, Sr., Feliciana Janssen and husband Henry, Sr., Teodoro Alvarez, Jr., Alfredo Alvarez and wife Adelfa, Soilo Alvear and wife Frances, Oralia Moreno, Ernest Alvarez, Avilio Sepulveda, Alejandro Sepulveda, Barbara Sepulveda, Mary Colyer; brother in laws, Ricardo Protesek, Lucia and Blanco Protesek and a host of cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 10AM to 11AM with a Rosary beginning at 11AM and Services at 11:30 AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.
