Werner Fritz Buehring

Werner Fritz Buehring, a former resident of Kenedy, Texas, entered eternal rest, surrounded by his family, Monday, December 2, 2013 in Giddings, Texas at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 20 days.

Werner was born, July 12, 1944 in Lenz, Texas, the son of Louis Buehring and Elsie Rosenbrock Buehring. He proudly served his country while in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. After leaving the Army, Werner married, Doris Ann Walterdorf in Karnes City, Texas on September 18, 1970. Werner worked for Weston Gas Company as a pipeline foreman; he was a devoted husband and a beloved father and grandfather.

Mr. Buehring is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elsie Buehring; his 3 brothers and 1 infant grandchild. Werner is survived by his loving wife of over 43 years, Doris Ann Buehring; his daughters, Debbie Kubla and husband Johnny and Sandra Meadows and husband James; his 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his 2 sisters and his 17 brothers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 5, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy. Funeral services will be, Friday, December 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wally Schievelbein officiating. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.

Euodias Harris

Euodias Harris, age 100, moved from her Heavenly Home, Sunday, December 1, 2013 from Marshall, Texas. Euodias was born August 21, 1913 in Thrall, Texas, to Alvin and Myrtle Bownds. She lived most of her life near Kenedy, Texas. She retired from the Kenedy Independent School District in August, 1977. Her church service was primarily in the Green Baptist Church near Kenedy, Texas and currently a member of the First Baptist Church, Tuleta, Texas.

She enjoyed teaching, canning, sewing, gardening, cooking and most of all; spending time with family and friends. She was recognized as a great homemaker; a devoted wife, mother grandmother and hostess to a multitude of people.

Euodias is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, John L. Harris; her son, John Ray Harris and wife Carol; two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Atkinson and husband Franklin of Marshall and NormaNoah and husband Don of Corpus Christi; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Joy Bailey.

Visitation will be held, Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy, Texas. Funeral services will be held, 11:00 A.M., Saturday in the Chapel. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.

The family would be honored if memorials be given to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Gideon’s International or a charity of personal choice.

Sally Rose Jaramillo

Sally Rose Jaramillo, a resident of Kenedy, Texas passed away, Friday, November 29, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 52 years, 10 months and 21 days.
Sally was born, January 8, 1961 in Floresville, Texas the daughter of Reynaldo Jaramillo, Sr., and Virginia Aguirre Jaramillo. Sally was a loving mother and grandmother; she worked as a sales rep for both Alamo Lumber and John Deere in Kenedy, Texas.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Denise Benavides Garcia and husband David of Kenedy, Texas; her son, Juan Benavides and wife Sandy of Kenedy, Texas; her 11 grandmother; her 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Teri Benavides of Karnes City and Patricia Hernandez of Wisconsin and her brothers, Alacrio Jaramillo of Utah Manuel Jaramillo and wife Mary Lou of Karnes City and Eloy Jaramillo of Houston. Ms. Jaramillo is preceded in death by her son, Gilberto Benavides.
A memorial service was held, Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:00 P.M., in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Walter Hill, III.

Ramon Rodriguez

Ramon Rodriguez, a resident of Kenedy, Texas, passed away, Thursday, November 28, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 56.
Ramon was born in Dolores Hidalgo, Mexico, the son of Jose Carmen Rodriguez and Maria Caltzonzin Rodriguez. Ramon married Nickie Davila on April 9, 1977. He worked as a supervisor for G. E. Pouge for 21 years before retiring.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Nickie Rodriguez of Kenedy; his mother, Maria Rodriguez of Mexico; his sons, Joshua “Joey” Rodriguez and wife Micaela of Kenedy and Efrain “Bubba” Rodriguez and wife Andrea of Converse; his brothers, Jose, Ramiro, Rogelio and Pancho Rodriguez and his sisters, Angelica Rivas, Carmen Rodriguez, Beatrice and Olivia Manzano. Ramon is also survived by his grandchildren, Alex and Alycia Rodriguez.
Visitation will be held, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a rosary to be recited at 7:30 P.M., in the chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Kenedy with Rev. Norbert Herman officiating. Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery with Joshua D. Rodriguez, Efrain D. Rodriguez, Matias Gonzales, Jr., Pancho C. Rodriguez, Ramiro C. Rodriguez and Esteban Avilles serving as pallbearers.

Fernando G. Serna, Sr.

Fernando G. Serna, Sr., a lifelong resident of Pawnee, Texas, entered into eternal rest, Monday, November 25, 2013, in the Karnes County Health and Rehab Center in Karnes City, Texas at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Fernando was born, June 30, 1937 in El Oso, Texas, the son of Auerlio Serna and Louisa Gonzales Serna. He married Anita Rocha on August 28, 1963 in Three Rivers, Texas. Mr. Serna was a hardworking farmer and rancher, a devoted husband and a loving father.
Fernando is survived by her beloved wife of over 50 years, Anita Serna; his daughter, Betty Casanova and husband Felix; his sons, Bobby Serna and wife Alejandra, Ricky Serna and Fernando Serna, Jr., and wife Maria; his sister, Felecita Serna and his brothers, Isaac, Seferino and Dionicio Serna. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Serna is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Maria Villanueva and his brother, Elifonso Serna.
Visiation will be held, Thursday, November 28, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy, Texas with a rosary to be recited, Thursday at 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 29, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pawnee, Texas. Interment will follow in the Nell Cemetery, Nell, Texas.

Jesus Vasquez

Jesus Vasquez, a lifelong resident of Pettus, Texas passed away in Beeville, Texas at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 29 days.
Jesus was born March 26, 1940 in Pettus, Texas the son of Santos Vasquez and Eugenia DeLuna Vasquez. He worked for Hutco, formerly Johnson Construction Company for many years as a roustabout foreman.
Jesus is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Julian Vasquez, Sr. Mr. Vasquez is survived by his daughter, Yvette Prieto and husband Juaquin of Pettus and Jesus DeLuna Vasquez, Jr., and wife Ida of George West. He is also survived by his beloved 8 grandchildren, Yvonne Duran, Ashley Duran, Blanca Prieto, Trey Prieto, Juaquin Prieto, Jr., Samantha Prieto Silva, Jacob Brandon Vasquez and Dillon Rey Vasquez; his brothers, Ignacio, Juan Moises, Raymond and Santos Vasquez, Jr., and his sister Linda Pina.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 P.M., Monday, November 25, 2013 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services were held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Loma Alta Cemetery, Kenedy, Texas.

Dawn Ponish

Dawn Ponish a longtime resident of Kenedy, Texas, was welcomed by the Lord, Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the age of 43 years. Dawn was born and raised in Kenedy, Texas on September 22, 1970, the daughter of Joe Ed Ponish and Doris Jane Blakenly Ponish.
Dawn attended Kenedy High School and graduated, Class of 1989. She later moved to Austin, where she lived for 8 years and worked at the Austin Airport, after leaving Austin, Dawn made San Antonio her home for 7 years, where she worked for a local day care center. Dawn always found time to watch her favorite game shows and was an avid George Straight fan.
Dawn is survived by her father, Joe Ed Ponish of Kenedy; her sister, Terri Foreman and husband Kevin; her nephews, Brandon, Tyler and Keeton and her beloved dog, Brittney. She is preceded in death by her mother, Doris Jane Ponish.
Visitation was held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 26, 2013, in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy, Texas. Funeral services began at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at First Baptist Church Kenedy with John Berry officiating. Interment followed in the Kenedy Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jason Ponish, Adam Mitchell, Brandon Foreman, Tyler Foreman, Keeton Foreman and Kevin Foreman.

Elenora Rose (Kotara) Braudaway

Elenora Rose (Kotara) Braudaway, loving wife, mother, and  grandmother,  went to be with our Heavenly Father on November 23, 2013 surrounded by family. Elenora was born on February 19, 1921 in Cestohowa, Texas to the late Alexander and Emelia (Pawelek) Kotara.  She married John Henry Braudaway, Sr. on August 13, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas. They were married for sixty years until John preceded her in death in 1999.  Elenora was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Laskowski, her brother, Sam Kotara, Sr., her son, Sherwin Glen (Joe) Braudaway and her grandson, Gerald Braudaway.  Elenora is survived by her sisters, Theresa Warzecha of San Antonio, Texas and Lourine Kotzur of McCook, Texas and her children, John  Braudaway, Jr. (Charlene) of Karnes City, Texas, Melton (Bits) Braudaway (Margie) of San Antonio, Texas, Jessie Braudaway (Carolyn) of Springfield, VA, Alton Braudaway (Karen) of Zephyr, Texas, Genevia Hahn (Charles) of Westhoff, Texas and Sharon Champagne (Keith) of Bedford, Texas.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Braudaway (Tammy), Britton Braudaway (Susan), Chaliise Mackey (Douglas); Douglas Braudaway (Willie), David Braudaway, Jennifer Braudaway, Glynn Braudaway (Barbara); Patricia Green (Marty); Blayn Hahn (Renee); Stephen Champagne (Monica) and Joanne Sparks (Jay), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Elenora was a wonderful cook and liked to can all kinds of fruits and vegetables.  She liked gardening and loved flowers, but, most of all, Elenora loved caring for her family and friends.
The family will receive friends and family at Eckols Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 26 from 5:00-7:00 followed by a rosary service at 7:00 P.M.  A mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Kenedy, Texas, officiated by Norbert Herman, followed by a burial at the Choate Cemetery and reception at the Choate Community Center.  The pallbearers are Michael Braudaway, John Austin Braudaway, Clinton Braudaway, Britton Braudaway, Douglas Braudaway, David Braudaway, Glynn Braudaway, Blayn Hahn and Stephen Champagne with her great grandsons as alternate pallbearers.  Donations may be made to the Choate Cemetery Fund.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Bluebonnet Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for its years of caring for Elenora, Nurses In Touch for its hospice care and Dr. Roberto Ramirez as her doctor.

Elmo Lee Brockman

Elmo Lee Brockman, a longtime resident of Pettus, Texas, passed away in his home, Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 9:30 A.M., at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 12 days.
Elmo was born October 9, 1924 in Gillette, Texas the son of Lonzo Harrison Brockman and Pauline Brockman. Elmo proudly served his country having served in the United States Army and fighting in World War II in Europe, “The Greatest Generation”. Elmo had lived in Pettus, Texas for the past 32 years, he was very proud of the home he had built himself. He was a retired postmaster and while living in Kenedy was very active in his community having been a member of Rotary Club and a Master Mason.
Elmo loved working with genealogy. He was a member of the Mayflower Society. His family ancestry went back to two families aboard the Mayflower; William Bradford of Plymouth Colony and Edward Winslow.
Elmo is survived by his daughters, Pam Wachutka and husband Sean of Dumfries, Virginia, Rebecca Kaspryzk and husband David of Elgin and Cathy Brockman of Brenham; his son, Mike Brockman and wife Marsha of Cestohowa; his sister, Naomi Brown and his 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Mr. Brockman is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 65 years, Alice “Peggy” Brockman and his infant son, Mark David Brockman.
Graveside funeral services were held, Monday, November 25, 2013 at 2:00 P.M., at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

Alicia Rodriguez Gonzalez

Alicia Rodriguez Gonzalez, a resident of Karnes City, Texas, passed away, Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her home at the age of 41 years. Alicia was born June 23, 1972 in Dolores Hidalgo, Mexico to Angel Rodriguez Gonzalez and Andrea Perales Rodriguez.
She is survived by her father; husband, Mario Gonzalez Contreras of Karnes City; her 3 children, Maria Soledad Gonzalez, Bianca Lorena Gonzalez and Jose Mario Gonzalez all of Karnes City and 2 sisters.
A rosary will be recited, Wed. Nov. 20 and Thurs. Nov. 21, 2013, both at 7PM in the Eckols Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10AM, Fri. Nov. 22, 2013 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, Karnes City, Texas.
