Marvin D. Kinnamon

Marvin KinnamonMarvin D. “Pop” Kinnamon, Age 57 of Pettus, TX passed away on June 25, 2015 in San Antonio, TX.  He was born on September 17, 1957 in Irving, TX to Murlin and Ruth Daniels Kinnamon.  He was a farm and ranch manager for the South Texas Children’s Home and a member of First Baptist Church in Kenedy.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Daniels Kinnamon.

He is survived by his Loving wife Patricia Ann Kinnamon of Pettus; sons, Justin D. Kinnamon and wife Amanda Elaine of New Braunfels, Jake Kinnamon of Corpus Christi; father, Murlin E. Kinnamon of Jacksonville; sister, Barbara K. Hardy of La Porte; brother, Randy M. Kinnamon of Mansfield; grandchildren, Tyler, Elaine  and Landry of New Braunfels  and was “Pop” to many more sons through his years of being a house parent for the South Texas Children’s Home.

A Memorial Service will be Held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2PM at The First Baptist Church in Kenedy, TX.

Dorothy Atkinson Kolinek

 

Dot. A. Kol.Dorothy Atkinson Kolinek went to be with her Lord and Savior June 28,2015.
She was born April 2, 1927, to W. H. And Leta Youngblood Atkinson in Kenedy, Texas. She
graduated from her beloved Baylor University in 1947, and married the love of her life, H. J.
Kolinek, Jr. September 6, 1947.

Dorothy was a loyal and faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday
school for over 30 years and sang in the choir. Her passions included spending time with family
and friends and attending church. In addition she was an excellent seamstress and a member of the progressive study club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her loving family including her
husband, H. J., daughter Marsha Duniven and son-in-law Dennis, granddaughter Crista Kuhn andher husband Ben and granddaughter Cara Duniven.

At the family’s request in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dorothy Atkinson and
Marsha Kolinek Duniven Endowed Scholarship Fund of Baylor University, One Bear Place
#97026 Waco, Texas 76798-7026 or to the “Renovation Fund” of First Baptist Church, 209 E.
School St, Kenedy, Texas 78119 or Donor’s Choice.

Family Visitation will be held June 30, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held July 1, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matt Singleton and Rev. Tim Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Kerwin Kolinek, Ron Hyde, Jim Fox, Tobe Ricks, Billy Morris, and Richard Robinson.

Ann Ladean Willoughby Sowell

Ann Ladean Willoughby Sowell, 54, of Kenedy, formerly of Refugio, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 peacefully in her home with family beside her.  Ann was born on September 19, 1960 in Robstown, TX to the late Seal Eugene Willoughby and Frances Ann Cabe.  She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.  On March 21, 1981 she married Vint K. “Sonny” Sowell in Refugio, TX.

She is preceded in death by her father, Seal Eugene Willoughby; mother, Frances Ann Cabe.

She is survived by her husband Vint K. “Sonny” Sowell of Kenedy, daughter Haylee Ann Sowell of Karnes City, sons, Vincent Kenneth Sowell and wife Heather of New Braunfels, Derrick Seal Sowell, wife Laura and grandson, Truett Sowell of Spring Branch.

The family would like to express their appreciation to everyone who called, visited, and helped throughout the last few months.   She will always be loved and her legacy will live on through all of us.

A Graveside Service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10AM in the Choate Cemetery with the Rev. Walter Hill, III officiating.

Kathy Lynn Elliott, Age 45 of Karnes City, TX, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 in San Antonio, TX.  She was born on Jan. 11, 1970 in Kenedy, TX to Glenn D. and Irene Opiela Elliott.  She was homemaker and a Christian.

She is preceded in death by her father Glenn D. Elliott.

She is survived by her mother Irene Opiela Elliott of Karnes City; son Tylor Piskor of Victoria; brother, Duane Elliott and wife Wendy of Beeville and niece Skyler Elliott of Victoria.

Family Visitation will begin Fri. June 12, 2015 at 7PM to 9PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Services will be held Sat., June 13, 2015 at 2PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery

He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel, Sr. and Eloisa Trevino De La Garza and Step-Parents Pedro and Margarita De La Garza; brothers, Manuel De La Garza (Weslaco), Manuel De La Garza (Sinton), Aurelio De La Garza, Gilbert De La Garza, and Pete De La Garza.He is survived by his loving wife Elena Garcia De La Garza of Kenedy; daughters, Sally Villanueva and husband Pastor Roy of Seguin, Gloria De La Garza and Joe Torres, Jr. of Kenedy, Rose Mary De La Garza and Marcelino Farias, Jr. of Kenedy, Grace Chapa and husband Israel of Victoria, Irene Villanueva and husband Lupe of Corpus Christi, Yvonne Llanes and husband Daryl of San Antonio; son Manuel De La Garza of Kenedy; 7 sisters, 6 brothers, 20 Grandchildren and 15 Great-grandchildren.A Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 6:30 PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery with Military Honors.

Meza, her parents, and a sister.She is survived by her daughter, Elodia Meza of Kenedy, sons; Raymond Meza of Kenedy, Robert Meza of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Barry Meza, Brenda Bowman, Raymond Meza, Jr., Rebecca Meza, Theresa Meza, 7 Grt-Grandchildren and 1 Grt-Grt-Grandchild.A Rosary will be recited Monday, June 15, 2015 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy,TX.

Randy Wayne Pullin

Randy Wayne Pullin, Age 51 of Jourdanton, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX passed away June 6, 2015 in Dilley, TX.  He was born on February 6, 1964 in Kenedy, TX to late Albert S. Pullin and Alma Remmers Pullin of Jourdanton, TX. He was a Ranch hand and of the Assembly of God Faith.

He is survived by his mother Alma Remmers of Jourdanton; sisters, Patti Thurmann and husband Vernah, Sandra Carroll and husband Wayne, Sherry Pawlek and husband Billy; brother, Kenny Pullin, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 9th, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Walter Gilbert, Rev. Tim Stoker and the Rev. Scott Attkinson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Willie Schilling, Gary Remmers, Mark Polcek, Murray Taibert, David Smith, and Calvin Koening, Jr..

Honorary Pallbearer will be Phillip Graf.

George Randall “Randy” McAlister

???????????????????George Randall “Randy” McAlister, age 81 born Nov. 14, 1933 in Rogers, TX; married Jan. 19, 1961 in Grover, NC at Presbyterian Manse, passed away May 3, 2015 Pineville, North Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his father George W. McAlister and mother Edith Durnal McAlister.   He is survived by his daughters, Mary Lisa Starry of Lake George, CO; Susan Rice of Gastonia, NC; sister, Susan Clark of Longview, TX; brother, Tommy McAlister of Kenedy, TX; and grandchildren, Chase Starry, James Borrum, Jonathan Rice, Nathan Rice, and Hannah Rice. Randy was a graduate of San Marcos Military Academy and he attended Texas A&M College.  He was self-employed most of his life, managing the family ranch and antique shop. He was a carpenter and an electronic technician by trade, a Mason belonging to Masonic Lodge #200, enjoyed carving, painting, cooking, and rebuilding computers.

Family Visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2015 from 6PM to 8PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Bowers and Rev. Chris Howell officiating.    Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Joe Simon Sandoval, Age 42, of San Antonio, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX passed away May 10, 2015 in San Antonio, TX.  He was born on April 17, 1973 in Kenedy, TX to the late Guadalupe Sandoval and Maria Guadalupe Reyna Ramos.  He was a volunteer for the Church UnderThe Bridge in San Antonio.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Margie Mata of San Antonio, sister Dolores Segura and husband Armando, Sr., Adela Jew and husband Paul both of San Antonio; uncle Jimmy Reyna of Runge; nephews, Steven Hernandez and wife Ruby, Michael Hernandez, Mario Hernandez, Simon Hernandez; grt-nieces & grt-nephews, Alison Hernandez, Ennessii Hernandez, Lezley Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, Jr., Avisti Hernandez, and Abraham Herrera all of San Antonio.
