JoAnn was born on September 21, 1966 in Pearsall, TX to the late Emeraldo and Consuelo Charles DeLosSantos.  She was a Housekeeping Clerk for Fort Bend Health Care Center, a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and of the Pentecostal Faith.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Emeraldo and Consuelo Charles DeLosSantos; sister, Mary Ann Morales; and son Hector DeLosSantos.  She is survived by her daughters, DeLores DeLosSantos of Richmond, Geneva Gonzales of Lubbuck, Victoria, Barrientez of Rosenburg, Stephanie DeLosSantos of Rosenburg; sisters, Diana DeLosSantos of Rosenburg, Anna Flores of Richmond; brothers, Jonas DeLosSantos of Rosenburg, Emeraldo DeLosSantos of Rosenburg, Stephen DeLosSantos of Rosenburg, Mark DeLosSantos of Runge, 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  A Prayer Service will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 at 7PM at Heavenly Gates F.W.C. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Heavenly Gates F.W.C. with Pastor Jesse Rios officiating. Interment will follow in the Runge Cemetery.

Michael John Sharp

MS2Michael John Sharp was called to heaven by his Lord and Savior on May 22, 2017, after a five year battle with cancer.  He was born on February 25, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois.  Michael had a passion for his family and time spent with them.  He married the love of his life, Rebecca, in 2009. In 2011, they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Ruby.When there was spare time, he loved to spend it on a golf course with friends or cheering on his hometown teams, the Chicago Blackhawks, Bears or White Sox.  Michael is survived by his loving family including his wife Rebecca and daughter Ruby of Bee Cave, Texas; his proud parents, Jim and Arlene Sharp of Darien, Illinois; his sister Erin DeSimone, her husband Jerry and their children Anthony and Annie of Norridge, Illinois; his brother Brian Sharp, his wife Gina and their children, Samantha, Nathan and Steven of Naperville, Illinois; his twin brother Jimmy Sharp, his wife Danielle and their children, Riley and Zach of Naperville, Illinois. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 8AM to 10:30 AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Herbert D. Baker

Herb D. Baker Obit PicHerbert D. Baker born in 1937 in San Bernardino, California. Died May 21, 2017 at his ranch in Kenedy, Texas at the age of 80 years. Herb graduated from Pacific High School, San Bernardino, Calif. in 1955 and from USC with a bachelor’s degree in 1959. He taught Navigation at UCLA and was subsequently commissioned in the Navy as an Ensign. He then went to flight training in Pensacola, Florida and for the next 8 years flew off of several different aircraft carriers including the Yorktown and the Oriskani. He attained the rank of Lt. Commander.

Herb left active duty and went into the Naval Reserve in 1967. At that time, he became a pilot for United Airlines, starting out as a flight engineer on the DC8 and culminating as a captain on a DC10. He retired at the age of 60. He was a former member of the Lion’s Club, Buena Park (Calif) Reserve Police Dept., Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the San Bernardino County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse.

The passions of his life were family, his ranches, horses, cattle and fish. He developed the first black lace-tailed guppy, hunted with his Vizslas (bird dogs), back-packed in the high Sierras, and went on many cruises. He had friends all over the world.

He was a 32nd degree Free-Mason at the local lodge in Kenedy, Texas. He was also an active member of the Scottish Rites in San Antonio and belonged to The Order of Eastern Star in Kenedy.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Ann (Willmott), 5 children Rebecca, Tanya Joelle, Veronica (Danny) Requejo, Jennifer Sims and Jerry (Leane) Baker. There is a total of 8 grandchildren, Mathew Birnbaum (Rochel), Taylor Laub, Minna Kraft, Zachery Requejo (Jessica), Danica Requejo, Hayden, Madison, and Baiileigh Smith, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy (Sissie) Polley-Fairchild (Chuck) and his brother John (Lynda) Baker. Two step-children, Liah and Suzanne Cossey, and step daughter, Carlyn Walters, and step-grandchildren, Jesse Walters, Anastasia and Alexzander Cossey.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Homer and Olive (Byers), his first wife Peggy Lee (Eppensteiner) and his second wife Barbara (Eakle).

Jose was born on December 6, 1947 to the late Norberto and Linda Rios Alvear.  He proudly served his Country in the ARMY during the Vietnam War, was a retired construction worker and of the Catholic Faith.  Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Norberto and Linda Rios Alvear; brothers, Frank and Lupe Alvear.  Jose is survived by his brothers, Mercedes Alvear of San Antonio, Beto Alvear of Kenedy numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  A Holy Rosary will be held Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 7P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 15, 2017 at 10AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Julia was born on January 10, 1954 in San Antonio to the late Santos Ruiz, Jr. and Guadalupe Flores Ruiz. She retired from San Antonio I.S.D. as a Data Entry Clerk and was of the Catholic Faith.  She is preceded in death by her parents Santos Ruiz, Jr. and Guadalupe Flores Ruiz.  She is survived by her husband Armando P. Flores of San Antonio, sister, Mary Riskind of Eagle Pass; brother, Alexander Ruiz of San Antonio and niece Crystal Ruiz of San Antonio.  A Holy Rosary will be recited Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Estella D. Gutierrez

Estella D. Gutierrez, Age 81 of Kenedy, TX passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Karnes City, TX. She was born June 18, 1935 in Peggy, TX to the late Guadalupe and Soledad Cantu Davila. Estella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She retired as a Teacher’s Aide from K.I.S.D.; was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Guadalupana’s.  She is preceded in death by her husband Rudy M. Gutierrez; and parents, Guadalupe and Soledad Davila.  She is survived by her daughter, Leticia Riojas and husband Edward of Karnes City; son, Roy Gutierrez and wife JoAnn of Karnes City; sisters, Delia Martinez of Floresville, Lilly Garibay of Pawnee; brother, Everardo Davila of Houston, 10 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.  A Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Jose A. Arenal

Jose A ArenalJose A. Arenal went to be with our Lord on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the age of 98 years, one month and five days. He was born to Concepcion Arenal and Honorato Aguilar on March 5, 1919 in Laredo, Texas.  Mr. Arenal proudly served his country in WWII as Pfc Battery “C” 199th (AA) Coast Battalion in the U.S. Army, serving in the Northern Solomons, Southern Philippines from 1943 to 1946.  Mr. Arenal married Miss Olivia Guerra on August 5, 1946.  Five Children were born to this union.  He was a retired Mill Worker for General Mills/Henkel having worked there for many years.  Dad was a hardworking man who loved his family with all his heart.  As a Carpenter; he built his Home, working on many projects around the house.  As a gardener, he enjoyed making things grow.  Grandpa could be heard whistling or singing as he prepared meals, made bird houses, tended his garden or planted trees.  Mr. Arenal is preceded in death by: his parents, his wife Mrs. Olivia Arenal, his eldest son Armando Arenal, sister: Ester Rodriguez and Olga Cantu, a brother Roberto Aguilar, a granddaughter Skylee Bustemante, a grandson Robert Arenal, and three great-grandsons.  Mr. Arenal is survived by his daughter: Irma (Ismael) Rodriguez and Janie (Monnaiah) Kallumadanda, his sons: Ron Arenal and Richard (Valerie) Arenal, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.  A Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday, April 16, 2017 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Cynthia Denise Barnes Huwe

Cynthia Denise Barnes Huwe, Age 48 of Kenedy, TX passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2017 in Cuero, TX. Cynthia was born on November 5, 1968 to Floyd Edward and Ruby Mueller Barnes in Karnes City, TX.  She was lifelong resident of Karnes County and a retired Nurse’s Aide. Cynthia is preceded in death by her father Floyd Edward Barnes and grandparents.  Cynthia is survived by her mother, Ruby Mueller Barnes of Kenedy; brothers, Eddie Barnes and Adelia Vasquez of Kenedy, John Barnes of Kenedy; nephew, Wayne Barnes of Sugarland, and numerous family and friends.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 3PM to 8PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Rosario Gonzales Gomez, Age 46 of Kenedy, TX passed away on March 18, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. Rosario was born on March 9, 1971 in Karnes City, TX to the late Jose and Francisca Coronado Gonzales. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  She is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Francisca Coronado Gonzales and a son Juan Ramon Gomez.  She is survived by her husband Juan Gomez Godinez; daughters, Melissa Marie Marks of Kenedy, Genoveva Michelle Gomez of San Antonio; son, David Lee Cantu; sisters, Guadalupe Lazcano of Kenedy, Francis Lazcano of Kenedy, JoAnn Lazcano of Three Rivers, Mary Cantu of Kenedy, Magdalena Lazcano of Pleasanton; Brothers, Carlos Gonzales of Earth, Crescencio Lazcano of Kenedy, Martin Lazcano of Kenedy and 9 grandchildren.  A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Tyrone is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Tyrone, Sr., his mother, Mozetta Grant, six (6) brothers: Curtis Tyrone Sr., Sylvester Tyrone, Charlie Reed, Milton Tyrone, Ben Ernest Tyrone Sr., Lawrence Tyrone Jr. and one (1) sister, Mae Katherine Brown.  He leaves a legacy of family members behind, being survived by his wife of 67 years, Willie Mae (Banks) Tyrone; two (2) sons: Rhode Tyrone Jr. – Kenedy, Texas and Lawrence [Gabriela] Tyrone – Skidmore, Texas; and a daughter: Linda Tyrone-Williams – Kenedy, Texas; seven (7) grandchildren: Laveena Tyrone, Laniece Watts, Diamond Alexander, Ronel Alexander, Jazmine Tyrone, Daniel Tyrone and Jo Anna Tyrone; seven (7) great-grandchildren: Jamarcus Tyrone, Destiny Jarvis, DeVaundre Wesley, Christan Henderson, Damion Wesley, Daisharae Pittman, and D’Yionna Pittman; one (1) brother: Willie [Shirley] Reed – Detroit Michigan; four (4) sisters: Mildred Groce – Dallas Texas, Cleola Kizzee – Waller, Texas, Leola Gross – Dallas Texas,  and Mozetta “Gracie” Ellison – Houston, Texas; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.  Visitation was held on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 3pm to 8pm at Eckols Chapel.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10am with Chaplain Lydia Vallejo officiating.  Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Pallbearers:  Rhode Tyrone Jr., Lawrence Tyrone, Laniece Watts, Jamarcus Tyrone, Willie Pleasant, DeVaundre Wesley, and Damion Wesley.
