Tara Lynn Mueller Remmers

Tara Lynn Mueller Remmers, of Victoria, Texas, passed away, February 6, 2013 at 4:20 A.M., at Memorial Herman Hospital,  in Houston, Texas at the age of 53. Tara was born on February 18, 1959, the daughter of Carlton Mueller and Lenora Dittfurth Mueller in Yorktown, Texas. She  graduated from Runge High School. Tara was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Victoria, Texas. On April 17, 1982, Tara married Allen Remmers in Runge, Texas.

Tara is survived by her loving husband of over 30 years, Allen Remmers; her daughter, 1St Lt. Holly Marie Remmers of Fort Carson, Colorado; her son, Cody Allen Remmers of Victoria, Texas; her brother, Kenneth Mueller and wife Brenda of Uvalde, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Remmers is preceded in death by her parents and her numerous aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held, Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 10:30 A.M., in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy, Texas, with Rev. Tim Williams officiating.

Reynaldo “Ray” Montez, Jr.

On February 4, 2013, our beloved Reynaldo “Ray” Montez, Jr., peacefully left this earth and entered the Kingdom of Heaven at the age of 53 years, 7 months and 29 days. Ray was born, June 6, 1959 in Karnes City, Texas, the son of Reynaldo Montez, Sr., and Sira Ramirez Montez. He graduated from Everman High School in 1978 and went on to work a number of years for Vecta Contract in Grand Prairie. It was there that he learned the craft of upholstery and furniture design which led him to open his own company, Upholstery’s Vision, in Everman, Texas. He was a devout Christian who genuinely loved Jesus with all his heart. He never got tired of sharing this love with others. He died of a lengthy illness and it was his faith in God that helped him fight a courageous battle.

Visitation will begin, Thursday, February 7, 2013, and a prayer service will be held Thursday at 7:00 PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013, at 10:00 A.M., in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Allan Saldaña and Elizabeth Saldaña. Interment will follow at the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be, Albert Montez, Daniel Garza, III, Jimmy Ramirez, Kenneth Pinner, Jesse Miller and Peter Ruiz.

Survivors include Ray’s parents, Reynaldo Montez, Sr. and Sira of Everman; his sisters, Linda Montez of Fort Worth, Grace Montez of Everman, Terrie Montez-Pinner and her husband Kenneth, of Fort Worth, Marie Miller and husband Jesse, of Fort Worth; his brother, Albert Montez of Everman; his beloved nieces, Janette, Carolyn, Elizabeth, Ashley; grand-nieces, Melina, Janette, Marissa, Ariana; grand-nephews, Tony, Alex, Jr., Caleb and numerous friends and relatives who loved him dearly.

Consuelo DeHoyos

Consuelo Munoz DeHoyos, passed away surrounded by her family, Friday, February 1, 2013, in the Northeast Baptist Hospital, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 65.

Consuelo was born, May 31, 1947, IN Kenedy, Texas, the daughter of Rudolfo Munoz and Alicia Alaniz Munoz. She was a devoted homemaker. Consuelo told many jokes and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; she was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers of all kinds and really loved to play the Texas Lotto. On September 14, 1985, Consuelo married Luis DeHoyos. Consuelo was of the Catholic faith.

Mrs. DeHoyos is preceded in death by her father; her infant daughter, Cynthia; and infant son, Rosendo;  her step-son, Luis DeHoyos, Jr. and her brother, Rudolfo Munoz, Jr. Consuelo is survived by her beloved husband of over 27 years, Luis DeHoyos; her mother, Alicia Alaniz Munoz of Kenedy; her daughters, Anita Rodriguez of McKinney, Texas, Esmeralda Batres and husband Esteban of Dallas, Texas and Michelle Rodriguez of Nixon, Texas; her sons,  Ricardo Rodriguez and wife Josie of Lorenzo, Texas, Michael Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas and Reynaldo Rodriguez of McKinney, Texas; her 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Gilbert Munoz, Ruben Munoz and Raul Munoz and her sisters, Esperanza Longoria and Trinidad Montes.

Visitation will begin, Monday, February 4, 2013, in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel and rosary will be recited Monday at 7:00 P.M., in the chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Stanislaw Marciniak officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

 

Dorla Jean Hanks Hyde

Dorla Jean Hanks Hyde, a resident of Kenedy, Texas, passed away, Friday, February 1, 2013 at 7:33 A.M., in the Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 81.

Jean was born, October 2, 1931, in Bennington, Oklahoma, the daughter of Calvin Hanks and Nancy Hanks. On October 4, 1946, Jean married Ray Hyde in Mission, Texas. Jean was a devoted homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenedy.

Jean is survived by her sons, Ron Hyde and wife Pat of Kenedy, Glen Hyde and wife Candy of Roanoke, Bill Hyde and wife Teresa of Amarillo; her daughters, Pam Olson and husband Alan of Clear Lake and Nancy Orsak and husband Andrew of Warner-Robbins, Georgia; her brother, Jack Hanks and wife Mabel of Weslaco, Texas; her grandchildren, Amanda Conine, Emily Fumuso, James Hyde, Julie Smith, Chris Olson, Jeffery Olson, Matthew Orsak and Adam Orsak; her great-grandchildren, Lexie Olson, Olivia Olson, Madilyn Orsak, Destiny Orsak, Hailey Rae Orsak, Gabriel Orsak, Luke Hyde, Grant Hyde, Caroline Conine and Eloise Conine. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her dear friend and caregiver, Clint Priest. Mrs. Hyde is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 57 years, Ray Hyde; her brother, Albert Hanks and her sisters, Pat, Cleo, Bobbie, Leona and Alice.

Visitation will be held, Sunday, February 3, 2013, from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M, in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 4, 2013, in the Eckols Chapel officiated by Rev. Tim Williams and Pastor T.J. Burris. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be, Chris Olson, Jeffrey Olson, Adam Conine, Marc Fumuso, Andrew Orsak, Paul Garza, James Hyde, Jerry Reid, Adam Orsak, Alan Olson and Matthew Orsak.

Gonzalo Rocha Gonzales

Gonzalo Rocha Gonzales, a lifelong resident of Kenedy, Texas, died suddenly in his home, Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 11:09 P.M., at the age of 58.

Gonzalo was born May 29, 1954, in Nell, Texas, the son of Pablo Gonzales and Estefana Rocha Gonzales. Gonzales worked as an oil field driller and was of the Catholic faith.

Gonzalo is survived by his mother, Estefana R. Gonzales; his daughter, Valerie Gonzales of Karnes City; his sons, Gonzalo “Tiger” Gonzales, Jr., and Eugenio “Gino” Gonzales, both of San Antonio; his lifelong friend, Paula Grimaldo; his sisters, Sandy Gonzales, Rosa Arenas and husband Marcos, Paula Rios and husband LoLo, Eloisa Sixto and husband Roy, Amelia Martinez and husband Ray, Rita Noel and husband David and Estella Stewart and husband Ronnie; his brother, Manuel Gonzales and his 9 grandchildren. Mr. Gonzales is preceded in death by his father, Pablo “Pewee” Gonzales.

A Rosary will be recited, Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Following the rosary, Mr. Gonzales will be cremated.

Thomas “Beaver” Villanueva, Jr.

Thomas Villanueva, Jr., entered eternal rest, Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 4:45 A.M., at Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital in Kenedy, Texas, at the age of 61.

“Beaver” as he was called by all those that knew him, was born January 26, 1952, in Kenedy, Texas, the son of Tomas Cervantes Villanueva, Sr., and Rafaela Garcia Villanueva. He worked for America Tec in Chicago and Los Angeles where he retired after many years of work. Mr. Villanueva was of the Catholic faith.

Beaver is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Angelita Cardoza. He is survived by his sisters, Angelica “Kela” Garza of Kenedy, Mary Carizalez of Beeville and Irene Garcia of Port Lavaca; and his brother, Candido Villanueva of Kenedy.

Visitation will begin, Sunday, February 3, 2013, in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M., in the Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated, Monday, February 4, 2013, at 10:00 A.M., at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Stanislaw Marciniak, officiating. Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery, Kenedy, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Connie Garza, Edward Garza, John Garza, James Garza, Dwayne Garza, Ascension Carizalez and Thomas Villanueva. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of Beavers friends.

Clyde D. Boswell

Clyde D. Boswell, a lifelong resident of Pawnee, Texas, passed away at his residence, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 12:34 P.M., at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 13 days.

Clyde was born, February 17, 1946, in Beeville, Texas, the son of Robert P. Boswell and Bertie Elliott Boswell. He graduated from Texas Military Institute in San Antonio, Texas and shortly after began work as an electrician. He worked as an electrician for many years having worked all around the United States. After retiring, Clyde moved back home for good and spent his days as a farmer and rancher.

Clyde is survived by his daughter, Jessica Johnson and husband Ronny of Pearland, Texas; his brother, Robert E. Boswell of Spring, Texas and his three grandchildren, Katie, Libby and Miller Johnson.  Mr. Boswell is preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. and Bertie Elliott Boswell.

Graveside services will begin at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 5, 2013, in the Pawnee Cemetery, Pawnee, Texas, with Roy Cox officiating.

Charlie I. Braun

Charlie I. Braun of Victoria, Texas and formerly of Kenedy, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 9:15 P.M., in the Twins Pines Nursing Center, in Victoria, Texas, at the age of 97 years, 8 months and 10 days.

Charlie was born, May 12, 1915, in Bexar County, Texas, the son of Walter Ernest Braun and May Hargraves Braun. He worked for Schlumberger and after retiring went to work as a Jax Beer Distributor. Charlie also served on the Kenedy City Council.

Charlie is preceded in death by first wife, Haysel Parsons Braun; his sister, Vine Donnell; his sons, Charles Richard, Walter Silas, James Allen Braun and Ray Lardy and his second wife, Lucy Burkett Williams Braun.  Mr. Braun is survived by wife of 27 years, Catherine Ables Braun; his children, Charlotte Walters and husband Bob, Cindy Burris and husband Mike, Jess Williams and wife Nancy, Elizabeth Braun, Charlie Braun II and wife LeAnn, Burke Braun and wife Julie, Sandra Braun,  Donna Lardy and Catherine Gann. He will be missed by 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and his family at Twin Pines Nursing Center.

Visiation will be held Friday, January 25, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 P.M., in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, Kenedy, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 26, 2013, in the Eckols Chapel, with Rev. Wally Schievelbein. Interment will follow in the Kenedy, Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie’s grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Domino Club of Coletoville.

Maria Elena Rodriguez

Maria Elena Rodriguez, age 65, passed away, Monday, January 21, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas. Maria was born, November 4, 1947 in El Oso, Texas to the late Hilario and Hortencia Villarreal Chapa, Jr. She worked for 25 years as an Instructional Paraprofessional at Roger E. Sides Elementary in Karnes City, Texas.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Nancy Rodriguez; her granddaughter, Samantha Segura; her brothers, Hilario Chapa, III, and wife Sylvia and Carlos Chapa and wife Linda; her nieces, Lena Reyes and husband Lucas, Alisa Parker and husband Shelby, Andrea Stewart and husband Mark and her nephew, Carlo Chapa. Ms. Rodriguez is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonel “L.D.” Rodriguez and her parents.

Visitation will begin. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 12 Noon and a rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:00 P.M., in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. Norbert Herman officiating. Lynne H. Wallace

Lynne H. Wallace, a longtime resident of Kenedy, Texas, died suddenly after a massive heart-attack, Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 4:37 A.M., in Kenedy, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 18 days.

Lynne was born, July 2, 1938, in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of Robert Higinbotham and Virginia Johnson Higinbotham. She graduated Valedictorian of her high school class in Venezuela where she took satellite classes from Sunburst, Montana. After graduating high school, Lynne went on to graduate from Baylor University with her Bachelor’s Degree and later her Master’s Degree from Ole Miss University. On January 28, 1960, Lynne married the love of her life, Donald Wallace in Memphis, Tennessee.

Donald and Lynne traveled the world together and enjoyed every minute of it; Lynne enjoyed collecting hundreds of odds and ends from the places they lived and visited. Lynne taught in places such as, California, Brazil, Scotland, Florida, Venezuela, Peru and Texas. She taught English to many and shared her love and generosity to all she encountered.

No matter where Lynne and Don lived, Lynne always made sure that they were involved and active in church. She was active in the Methodist church and served as choir director for the Methodist church in both Kenedy and Smithville. When she wasn’t busy teaching or traveling, Lynne found time to be
part of different local organizations. She was a member of the ZTA Sorority, the Ladies’ Auxiliary and The Red Hat Club. She was a gifted seamstress and had a very artistic side to her. She had a true heart of gold and cherished all the many people she met along the way. Lynne never met a stranger and once she was your friend; she was your friend for life.

Lynne is survived by her beloved husband of over 52 years, Don Wallace of Kenedy; her daughter, Dixie Remy and husband Jackie of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her son William “Bill” Wallace and wife Tanya of Muldoon, Texas; her grandchildren whom she cherished very much, Michelle Orsak, Rachel Collier and husband Robert, Olivia Poole, Crystal Remy, Lana Hart and husband Cody and Amy and Elizabeth Wallace. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Sommer Skye, Titus and June Marie; her brother, Ret. Lt. Col. Lewis Higinbotham and wife Fran of Missoula, Montana; her niece and nephews and a host of many special friends she made along her journey. Mrs. Wallace is preceded in death
by her parents, Robert and Virginia Higinbotham.

A memorial service will be held, Thursday, January 24, 2013, at 1:00 P.M., in the Eckols Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Sue Huntsman officiating.
