Charlene Angermiller Stewart

Charlene Angermiller Obit picCharlene Angermiller-Stewart, Age 76 of Windcrest, TX formerly of Kenedy, TX passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Charlene was born on January 14, 1941 in Sinton, TX to the late Fred and Mary (McComick) Angermiller.  She retired as a building manager for Pyramid Properties, was a member of Windcrest Methodist Church.  Growing up in Kenedy then cheerleading and graduating at Kenedy High, Class of 1958, she made many close friends and lifelong relationships.  She will be fondly remembered, as a loving Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and dear friend to many.

She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Mary Angermiller; daughter, Karen Elizabeth Wedge; sister, Louise Green; brother LeRoy Angermiller and brother-in-law Carl Tolar.

She is survived by her son, Levi Brown and wife Joy of Cedar Creek; daughter, Sharon Larson of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jeffery Humphries and Krystal Humphries; great-granddaughter, Kyra Humphries all of San Antonio; sisters, Jean and husband Dalton Hartmann of Runge, Freda Tolar of Deer Park; sister-in-law Dee Angermiller of Baytown; brother-in-law Walter Green of Kenedy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 2PM to 3PM in the Eckols Funeral Chapel with Funeral Services at 3PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joan Ahrens officiating. Interment will follow in the Pawnee Cemetery in Pawnee, TX.

Survivors include his mother, Keddra Guajardo, of Pettus, TX ; his brother, Seth Guajardo; his maternal grandparents, John and Carman Gisler, of Pettus,TX, his maternal grandparents, Michael and Dolly Becker, of California; his paternal grandmother, Yolanda Guajardo, of Corpus Christi, TX; maternal great grandmother, Marcella Devall, of Pettus, TX; maternal aunt, Michele and Philip Bush, of New Braunfels,TX, maternal uncle, Robert and Rebecca Becker, of California and paternal uncle, Daniel Gutierrez, of Houston, TX; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Public Visitation  will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 from 9:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00a.m. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Perkins, of First Baptist Church of Pettus, Texas.  Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Robstown, Texas. Vivian was born on December 22, 1930 in Yorktown, TX to the late Willie and Minnie Rabenaldt Audilet.   She married Julius Slezinsky on March 9, 1956 in Kenedy, TX who preceded her in death on January 10, 2014. Vivian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,great-grandmother, sister, friend to many and of the Protestant Faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Julius Slezinsky; parents, Willie and Minnie Rabenaldt Audilet; sisters, Lucille Coleman, Rose Lee Kubala; brother, Edmund Audilet and infant brother, Marvin Audilet.

She is survived by her daughters: Yvonne Ruhmann and husband Russ of Cotulla, TX and Elizabeth Soden and husband Scott of Stockdale, TX; grandchildren: Zachary Ruhmann and wife Lauren and their child Quinn  of Pleasanton, TX, Trenton Ruhmann of Cotulla, TX, Jennifer Soden of Stockdale, TX, Tyler Soden and Companion Chanel and their child Ava of Dallas, TX; brothers, Alton Audilet of Yorktown, TX, William Audilet of Kenedy, TX, James Audilet of Yorktown, TX; nieces: Shirley Coleman of Poth, TX and Virginia Kay Lee of Poth, TX and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Family Visitation will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 10AM to 12PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 12PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Trey Hill officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

Zacarias Cortez

Zacarias Cortez Obit PicZacarias Cortez, Age 84 of Kenedy, TX passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. Zacarias was born on November 5, 1932 in Runge, TX to the late Eulogio and Eliza Muniz Cortez. He was a retired mechanic and a member of Our Lady Queen Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ofelia Cruz Cortez; parents, Eulogio and Elisa Muniz Cortez and a brother, Narciso Cortez.

He is survived by his daughters, Esmeralda Cano and husband Joseph of  Beeville, Irene Cortez and husband Ramiro Vega of Kenedy; sons, Armando Cortez and wife Dora Leal of Beeville; sisters, Dora Torres of Runge, Soila Jaramillo of Kenedy, Elva Rivas of San Antonio, Viola Cortez of Kenedy; 17 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 at 10AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Benito Rodriguez, Age 63 of Victoria, TX passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 in Victoria, TX. Benito was born on Sept. 15, 1953 in Halletsville, TX to the Late Elias and Alicia Barrientez Rodriguez.  He was a loving father and of the Catholic Faith.  He is preceded in death by his parents Elias and Alicia Barrientez Rodriguez; sister , Cruz Rodriguez; brother, Lupe  Rodriguez, Elias Rodriguez and Ramiro Rodriguez.  He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Rodriguez of Marble Falls, Elsa Rodriguez of Marble Falls, Esmeralda Rodriguez of Victoria, Samantha Rodriguez of Victoria; sons, Benito Rodriguez, Jr of San Antonio, Ramon Rodriguez of Victoria; sisters, Angie Rodriguez of Florida, Sara Rodriguez of Houston; brothers, Gregorio Rodriguez of Kenedy, Melicio Rodriguez of  Seguin, Riles Rodriguez of Houston, Manuel Rodriguez of Austin, and Pablo Rodriguez of Houston. Augustina was born February 5, 1928 in Karnes City, TX to the Late Lucio and Maria Villegas Rosales. She was a homemaker and a devout member of St Cornelius Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucio and Maria Villegas Rosales; sisters, Isidra Saenz, Lupe McKaney; brothers, Santiago Rosales, Jose Rosales, and Juan Rosales.

She is survived by her sister, Pauline Vargas of Goliad; brothers, Lucio Rosales, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Santos Rosales of Corpus Christi; nieces, Janie Arguellez and husband Porfirio, Lupe Arguellez and husband Felix, Mary Pena and husband Domingo all of Yorktown; grandchildren, Hector Arguellez and wife Miranda of Yorktown and their children, Shelby and Riley and Porfirio Arguellez and wife Heather of Victoria and their child Adilynn.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, TX.  Interment will follow in the Burnell Cemetery, Burnell, TX.

Daniel R. Mejia, Jr.

Daniel was born on December 4, 1933 in Cuero, TX to the late Daniel, Sr. and Isabel Ramirez Mejia. Daniel married Natalia Farias on January 16, 1958 in Karnes County, he retired from the City of Kenedy; was a Pastor for the Assembly of God in Kenedy; and a proud Veteran of the US NAVY serving during the Korean Conflict.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel, Sr. and Isabel Ramirez Mejia; great-grandson, Ryan DeLeon and a brother Antonio Mejia.

He is survived by his loving wife, Natalia Farias Mejia of Kenedy; daughters, Mary Jane Gonzales and husband Richard of Kenedy, Gloria M. Barrientez and husband Matias of Kenedy; sons, Daniel Mejia, III and wife Anna of Kenedy, Antonio Mejia and wife Priscilla of Kenedy, 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Juan Ruiz and Rev. Hector Oroxon officiating. Services will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Juan Ruiz and Rev. Hector Oroxon officiating.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Joe Edward “Coche” Cantu, Jr.

Joe edward cantu candle picJoe Edward “Coche” Cantu, Jr., of Kenedy, Texas, born February 17, 1937 to Jose Maria Cantu and Carmen Mireles Cantu passed away on      Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at his residence surrounded by family at the age of 80 . Coche was a member of the Kenedy GI Forum, Lulac, the Sportsman Club, was a Little League Head Coach and coached the Kenedy Kings for many years and won a State Championship. He is preceded in death by his son, Danny Cantu, his sister, Elida Garza, brothers, Manuel Cantu and Arcadio Padron, Jr. and also his parents. He is survived by his wife that he married on December 17, 1983, Maria Amelia Cantu; his two daughters, JoAnn Cantu Lomas, of Kenedy, TX and Carmen Jo Hernandez, of Kileen, TX; son, Michael Cantu, of Kenedy, TX and adopted son, David Lee Cantu, of Kenedy, TX; he raised: Crescencio Lazcano, Magalena Lazcano,  and Francisca Lazcano; sisters, Emelda Cantu, of Kenedy, TX; Margie (Jerry) Villarreal, Sinton, TX and Mary (Albino) Albiar,  Runge, TX; brothers, Jimmy (Isabel) Garcia, of  Canyon, TX, David  (Janie) Ozuna Sr., of Houston, TX and Guadalupe (Bertha) Ozuna, of Corpus Christi, TX; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest James Spencer; parents, Sam and Pomelia (Adams) Perkins; daughter, Edith Spencer; grandsons,Rudy James Spencer, Jr. Devan Haynes and numerous brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Haynes and husband Collins of Atkins, Yukiko Spencer of Kenedy, Evelyn Spencer of Minnesota, Terri Haynes of Karnes City, Ernestine Spencer of San Antonio, Annie Glenn of Spokane, Jody McClendon and husband Corey of Kenedy; sons, Ernest Spencer, Jr. and wife Jessica of Karnes City, Rudy Spencer and wife Cynthia of Karnes City; sisters, Mildred Houston of San Antonio, Stella Williams of San Antonio; brother, Leonard Perkins of San Antonio and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  A Prayer service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 6PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Bobbie graduated from Sam Houston High School, Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Rosalio F. “Chalio” Salinas, Sr.; her daughters, Theresa Booth, Veronica Lozano, and Rhonda Lozano, all of Houston, TX; son, Christopher Anthony Lozano, of Houston, TX; and other relatives. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 8:30a.m. with a Rosary to be recited and Funeral Services beginning at 11:00a.m. at Eckols Chapel with interment in Loma Alta Cemetery.
