Thomas A. Madsen

Thomas Arthur Madsen, Age 70 of Kenedy, TX passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in Kenedy, TX. Thomas was born on August 15, 1949 in Kenedy, TX to the late Arthur Eugene and Laura Bernice Homeyer Madsen. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kenedy. Tom always wanted to be a Cowboy. He started working sale barns, breaking horses and chasing cattle through the South Texas brush country.  With these skills he moved to Bandera for 20 years where he also became part of the local entertainment, wrangler, and rodeo entry and pickup man. Tom was a cowboy all his life.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Eugene and Laura Bernice Homeyer Madsen.  He is survived by his sons, Clint Madsen of Robstown, TX, Travis J. Madsen of Kenedy, TX; granddaughter, Cienna Madsen ; a sister, Phyllis Ann Stanley of Kenedy; nephew, Carl J. (Mary) Stanley of Moore, OK and numerous cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a date to be determined.

Florence Bernadette Scarborough

Florence Bernadette Scarborough was one of three children born to the late Rosie and Florian Yosko. She was born on March 23, 1929 in Runge, Texas. She passed away in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by her daughters and loved ones on December 31, 2019 at the age of 90. She grew up in Karnes City, Texas while spending the majority of her adult life in Kenedy, Texas with William T. Scarborough, Jr. raising their combined families. Florence and Bill were married for 44 years. She had five children, three stepchildren, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was a full-time housewife while also serving as a caretaker for elderly neighbors and babysitting several grandchildren until their school age. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, hunting, fishing and camping with her family, friend and many grandchildren. She was always very involved with her children’s school activities, sewing uniforms, baking for fundraisers and serving on band clubs and the Lions Booster Club. She hosted Dominoes “42” Clubs for both Woman’s and Couple’s at her home, along with Bunco Club. She loved to dance. Florence and Bill cooked and served monthly steak dinners at the Kenedy VFW for years and danced until closing by music from a juke box. Fritz danced (jitterbugged) and Florence (held on) for many a Friday night at Jerry B’s. She also donated many hours of volunteering and cooking, baking and organizing for celebrations at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Kenedy, including providing fresh baked communal bread for Sunday Services. She was preceded in death by her sister Gladys Ebrom, husband William Terry Scarborough Jr., beloved companion of Fritz Foster, son David Kasprzyk, and step daughter Elaine Scarborough Person. She is survived by her brother Manuel Yosko and wife Mary Ann of Seguin, son Clem Kasprzyk, Jr. and wife Lajuana of Kenedy, daughters Sandra Yanta of Karnes City and David Christian of Kenedy, Dorothy Scarborough and Matthew Young of Austin, Shirley Scarborough and Stephen Halbert of San Antonio, daughter-in-law Rebecca Kasprzyk of Elgin, stepdaughters Sherree Scarborough of Roanoke, Virginia and Marie Scarborough of Pearland, grandchildren Chris Kasprzyk, Stacey Kasprzyk Darby, Clint Kasprzyk, Carey Kasprzyk Baros, Clay Kasprzyk, Weston Yanta, Cassie Heffernan Dixon, Allie Heffernan, Tisha Kaspar Chitta, Tate Kaspar, Dylan Eklund, step granddaughter Shanna Osburn Wadsworth , three nephews, one niece, a few treasured Ex son-laws and a loved Ex daughter-in-law. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with interment following in Kenedy Cemetery. Norma Jean Noah

Norma Jean Noah, of Big Wells, TX beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2019. She was born on April 17, 1935 in Leona, Texas to John L. and Euodias Harris. After graduating from Karnes City High School in 1953, she attended the University of Corpus Christi where she met the love of her life, Don . She then moved to Kingsville, Texas to finish her degree at Texas A&I in 1957, with a BS in Elementary Education. She completed her Master’s Degree in 1960 in Education, History and Speech, also from Texas A&I. She taught two years in Port Aransas, TX before teaching at London Independent School District (south of Corpus Christi,TX) for the reaminder of her tenure of 35 years in the classroom of grades first thru eighth. She was a Sunday School Teacher at both Travis Baptist Church and Parkdale Baptist Church. She was a member of the Corpus Christi Beta Xi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Noah is preceded in death by her parents and brother and sister-in-law: John R. and Carol Harris. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Don Noah; her daughter: Shelly (David) Teichmann, Pampa, TX; son: Scott (Mimi) Noah, Sugar Hill, GA; grandchildren: Weston (Lisa) Teichmann, Houston,TX, Carlyn (Jacob) Tolleson, Dumas, TX, Grayson Noah, Dallas, TX, and Kate Noah, Sugar Hill,GA; 1 great grandson: Jaxon Teichmann; sister: Barbara (Franklin) Atkinson, Marshall, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Darla Mae Chandler

Darla Mae Chandler, of Hobson,TX born on September 20, 1959 in Cortez, CO to Nathan Robinson and Bonnie Johnston Robinson passed away on December 22, 2019 at the age of 60. Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Jane and Sharon and brothers: Jerry and Larry Robinson and mother-in-law: Lorraine Chandler. Survivors include her husband: Edward Chandler of Hobson, TX; two sons and one daughter: Justin (Tiffany) Chandler of San Diego, CA, Vannessa Chandler of Floresville, TX, Gared Chandler of East Bernard,TX; sister: Debbie (Michael) Atkinson of Falls City, TX; brother: Kenneth Robinson of CO; best friend, Susan Lamkin and her Abbi: Abbigale Polasek; two grandchildren: Kylee and Jaelyn; In-law: John and Carmen Chandler, Richard and Karen Chandler, Greg Chandler, Billy and Terrie Chandler; Judy and Kirby Hons, Effie and Tracy Wellmann, Brenda and Steven Hons, and Bonnie Culpepper; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Walter W. Hill, Jr.

Walter W. Hill, Jr. was born August 8, 1923 to Walter W. Hill, Sr. and Ruth Suffel Hill. After attending school in Karnes City, San Marcos Military Academy and Kenedy High School class of 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. During World War II,he served as a crew chief on B-17s and with the 36th Heavy Bomb Squadron in England on the B-24. He was discharged in 1945 but reenlisted in 1946 and served during the Berlin Airlift. In 1948, he was awarded a direct commission as a 2nd Lt. In March 1952, he was seperated from the service and returned to Kenedy. On March 10, 1946 he married his wife, Estelle and they were blessed with three children: Sandy, Bruce and Trey. Walter and his father owned and operated Hill Motor Sales in Kenedy for 18 years before Walter began his 3rd career, received a BA Degree in Public Administration; becoming City Administrator of Kenedy and the City Manager of Schertz and of Sinton. He retired from the City of Sinton after 15 years and established his own consulting firm which provided grant services to small cities. During that time he also served as interim City Manage at Rockport, Ingleside and Kenedy and served as a director of Commercial State Bank in Sinton. He was active in community affairs wherever he happened to be and was a member of the Kenedy Rotary Club(Paul Harris Fellow), and the VFW Post #8572. He held dual membership in Sinton and Kenedy Masonic Lodge. He was a long-time member of the Methodist Church leadership and taught Sunday School for many years. After moving back to Kenedy, he was active in the Word Fellowship Church. He entered eternal rest on December 20, 2019 at the age of 96 years 4 months and 12 days and is survived by his wife of 73 years, his three children: Sandy Livingston and husband Jim, Bruce and wife Linda, Trey and wife Earleen; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, December 30, 2019 from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00a.m. Monday at Eckols Chapel with the Rev. Walter Hill, III officiating. A Private interment will be held in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Michael Fitzgerald Williams

Michael Fitzgerald Williams of Cuero, TX born in Memphis, TN to Francis Cianciola and Eddie Jewel Williams Shaw passed away on December 17, 2019 at the age of 52. Mr. Williams is survived by his mother: Eddie Jewel Shaw and stepfather: Little Roy Shaw; sons: Michael Sinclair Williams and Sedgrick Williams;sisters:  Wanda Shaw  Boyd, Kimberly Joy Shaw, and Terri Shaw Lennon; nieces and nephews. Leticia Monsivais Morin, of Runge,TX was born on October 19, 1965 in Kenedy, TX to Juan Monsivais Jr. and Diana Caballero Monsivais passed away on December 19, 2019 at the age of 54. Ms. Monsivais is preceded in death by her brother: Juan Monsivais. She is survived by her mother: Diana Caballero Monsivais; special friend: Ovedio Garza of Runge,TX; daughters: Jessica (Carlos ) Valdez of Falls City,TX, Elizabeth Diaz of Runge,TX and Gabrielle Hernandez of Helena,TX; son: Rafael Morin of Kenedy,TX; 14 grandchildren; 14 grandchildren; sister: Vivian (Ambrosio) Caranza of Houston,TX; brothers: Stephen (Cheryl) Monsivais of Kenedy,TX, Israel (Charlee) Monsivais, of San Antonio,TX, Tony Monsivais, of Floresville,TX ; and other relatives. Carlos Gonzales

Carlos Gonzales, of Sudan formerly of Kenedy, TX born on January 27, 1974 in Amherst, Texas to Carlos Estrada and Magalena Lazcano passed away on December 7, 2019 at the age of 45. Carlos was a Truck Driver for Texas Cooperative Producers. He is survived by his wife 23 years: Librada Sanchez Gonzales; four children: Libby Ann  Zavala, Priscilla Nicole Gonzales, Sara Lee Gonzales and Carlos Gonzales Jr., along with their husbands Hector Zavala, and Christopher Alaniz. Carlos Gonzales was also survived by his grandchildren: Raiden Zavala, Alaric Zavala, Asael Zavala, Tyson Alaniz, Penelope Alaniz and Anylah Lara. Followed by his sisters: Maria Cantu, Guadalupe Lazcano, Magdalena Lazcano, Francisca Lazcano, and JoAnn and Brothers: Martin Lazcano and Cresensio Lazcano. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Jose F. Ester Rodriguez


Ester Rodriguez, age 79, of Karnes City Texas passed away on December 13, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Ester was born to Jose Maria Saenz and Anita Cavazos Saenz on December 5, 1940 in Beeville Texas. She married Abel Rodriguez on February 16, 1963 and they lived together in Karnes City Tx. Together they raised 4 children.

Ester was a home maker, care giver, and a seamstress. She also worked part time with both the Karnes City and Fanning School districts. She was an avid member of Smirna Pentecostal Church in Pawnee, Texas.

She was preceded in death by parents Jose Maria & Anita Saenz. Husband Abel Rodriguez, granddaughter Teagan Grace Rodriguez, Sister Angelita Sauceda and nephew Jeremy Saenz.

Ester leaves her children Noel (Sonja) Rodriguez of Three Rivers,Tx, Oralia Urrutia (Tony Cruz) of Kenedy, Tx, Enrique Rodriguez of Normanna, Tx and Edward (Jennifer) Rodriguez of Kenedy Tx.

She also leaves to cherish her memory 4 grandchildren. Ashley White of Karnes City, Tx, Eric Rodriguez of San Antonio, Tx, Korie Rodriguez of San Antonio, Tx and Hailey Rodriguez of Kenedy, Tx along with 2 great grandchildren Amariah White of Karnes City, Tx and Roger Gill of San Antonio, Tx.

Ester is also survived by her siblings Alberto (late Petra Prieto) Saenz, Sylvia (Chuck Nations), Rosa Winn, Arnold (Maria) Saenz, Santiago Saenz, Raul Saenz, George (Vicki) Saenz, Carlos Saenz  along with a host of nieces, nephews, & cousins.

Visitation will be December 17, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by aPrayer services at EcKols Funeral Home. Funeral Services are to be held at Smirna Pentecostal Church in Pawnee Tx on December 18, 2019 @ 10 am. Burial to follow at New Bremen Cemetery in Lenz Tx.

Adam DelaGarza Jr.

Adam DelaGarza, Jr. of Kenedy, Texas born on March 7, 1958 in Karnes City, Texas passed away on December 8, 2019 at the age of 61. Adam is preceded in death by his father Adam C. Delagarza Sr. Survivors include his mother: Juanita Garza Delagarza; sisters: Gracie Stewart of Three Rivers, TX and her daughter Vanessa Stewart and Nancy (Alexander) Strilka, Three Rivers, TX and daugthers: Kayla Strilka, Larissa Strilka, Lindsey Strilka; and other relatives.
