Mercedes “Chele” Salinas
Mercedes “Chele” Salinas, 64, of Kenedy, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011. She was born Feb. 9, 1947, in McAllen, to the late Edelmiro Garza Sr. and Josefa (Garcia) Garza. She loved gambling, reading books, walking in the park, and was very active in various activities.
Survivors: husband, Fernando Salinas; daughter, Mona Lisa Pena; sons, Alfredo (Virginia) Pena, Richard Pena; six sisters; five brothers; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents; one daughter; one son; three sisters; six brothers.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating. Burial will be at Kenedy Cemetery.
