Henry J. Schultz, Jr.

 

Henry J. Schultz Jr., 89, of Kenedy, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, in San Antonio.

Mr. Schultz was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Pawnee to Augusta (Duhon) and Henry W. Schultz Sr. He married Ruby Vaughn in November of 1948, and was a retired transport driver. He was a WW II veteran and a member of The Word Fellowship Church in Kenedy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby (Vaughn) Schultz on Sept. 9, 1998; a daughter, Catherine Schultz; six sisters, Hattie Samsel, Lydia Newberry, Dora Gross, Leona Kolinek, Lena Schultz and Alma Hagedorn; two brothers, Oscar Schultz and Milton Schultz; and two sons, Eddie and Lloyd Barnes.

Survivors include his companion, Olga Guerrero of New Braunfels; two daughters, Cherly L. Schultz of Kenedy and Liza (John) Fisher of San Antonio; five sons, Charles Schultz of Berclair, Johnny L. (Saundra) Schultz of Kenedy. James (Leonora) Barnes of Kenedy, Larry (Pam) Barnes of San Antonio, and Rodney (Billie Ann) Gill of Natalia.

Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Eckols Chapel.

The funeral service was conducted there Monday morning, Sept. 26, at 10 o’clock with Rev. Walter Hill III officiating. Burial followed in Kenedy Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eddie Barnes Jr., Mike Barnes, James Barnes Jr., Henry John “Jay” Schultz IV, Daryn Schultz, Devyn Schultz, Brian Barnes and John Barnes.

Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Barnes, Ray Barnes and John Fisher.
