Sarah Denise Morgan-Simmons

Sarah Denise Simmons (Morgan-Wiatrek), age 59, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by her family. Born in September 1965, in Karnes City, Texas, Sarah lived a life marked by devotion to her family, deep faith, and an infectious joy that touched everyone she met.  Sarah dedicated her professional life to serving others as a Detention Officer for GEO at the Karnes County Civil Detention Center. Her commitment to her work reflected her strong sense of responsibility and compassion for those around her.  A lifelong Catholic, Sarah raised her children in the faith and found strength and solace in her spiritual beliefs throughout her life. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light during both joyful and challenging times.  Sarah was a devoted wife to Wayland Simmons and a loving mother to Jordan Morgan and Maxwell Morgan and his wife Jana. She also embraced her extended family with open arms, including stepson Cody Simmons and his wife Stephanie, stepdaughters Casey Simmons and her husband Clint, Tracie Sanders and her husband Lyle, and Brandy Cantu and her husband Timothy. Her grandchildren—Caitlin, Bryce, Elizabeth, Jayden, Zachary, Alyssa, Lane, and Aria—brought immense pride and happiness into her life.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Wiatrek and Elizabeth Jarzombek, as well as by her late husband Andrew Morgan. Their memories remained close to Sarah’s heart throughout her life.  Sarah shared a close bond with her siblings: Archie Wiatrek and his wife Elaine; Eleanor Mctague and her husband Walter; Joe Wiatrek and his wife Trisha; Annie Zachary and her husband Adam; Dominick Wiatrek and his wife Sharron; Willa Wiatrek and his wife Sally; Ronnie Wiatrek and his wife Brenda. She also cherished the relationship she had with her sister-in-law Raelene Fudge and Raelene’s husband Grady, sister-in-law Rebecca Fraizer and husband Terry, brother-in-law Marshal Morgan and wife Terri, and brother-in-law Everett Morgan and wife Krista. Sarah also had many nieces and nephews and cousins whom she loved.  Known for her vibrant personality, Sarah brought laughter wherever she went. She had an innate ability to find joy in everyday moments—whether it was shopping for something special, planting flowers in the yard, or planning the next family vacation. Family BBQs were among her favorite gatherings—times when she could be surrounded by those she loved most.
Even through illness or hardship, Sarah remained resilient. Her strength was matched only by the warmth of her smile. She truly lived each day to the fullest—a testament to the love she gave so freely.
