Emelda M. Cantu, 90 of Kenedy, passed away on November 20th, 2025. She was born on December 10th, 1934 in Kenedy, Tx to Jose Maria Cantu and Carmen Mireles Cantu.  She was Catholic by faith. She worked as a housekeeper for the Mannings and the Mills for many years. She was an avid  sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Astros, LA Dodgers, Kenedy Lions, Kenedy Aces and Kenedy Royals.  She is preceded in death by her siblings, Erene Cantu, Elida Garza, Manuel “Meme” Cantu, and Joe Edward ” Coche” Cantu.  Raised siblings Alcardio Padron, Maria Padron, and David Ozuna.  She is survived by her raised siblings Guadalupe “Guale” Ozuna of Corpus Christi, Jimmy Garcia of Canyon and Margie Villarreal of Sinton, nieces Ida Garza, Delia Foley, Joann Lomas, nephews James “Jaime” Garza, Chris Solis, and Michael Cantu. Also by several great, great great, and great great great nieces and nephews.

A Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025 at 7pm in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of life Mass will be Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the family plot in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kenedy, TX

Serving as Pallbearers are Carl Foley Jr., A.J. Mendoza, Noel Cantu, Randy Garza, Alex Garza, and Louis Baldarramos.

Honorary Pallbearers are James Garza and Joann Garcia.
