It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Hackney Sr., who departed this life on August 16, 2025, at the age of 79. Robert lived a full and meaningful life, remembered for his gestures, truthfulness, and the love he shared with his family.

Robert was born on March 10, 1946, in Yorktown, Texas, growing up in Runge, Texas with a strong sense of the land. Throughout his life, he was known for his dedication to his loved ones and his ability to bring laughter to those around him.

Robert enjoyed watching westerns and talking about old firearms. His legacy will continue to live on through the many memories his family has.  Robert survived by his Children Larry Hackney and Laurie Hackney. His grandchildren Brittany Hackney, Hunter Hackney, Colt Hackney, Damien Hackney, and Jake Hackney. His great-grandchild Presley Hackney-Johnston.  Robert leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will carry his memory forward. His children Larry Hackney, Laurie Hackney, Robert Hackney Jr, and Cindy Richardel. His grandchildren Brittany Hackney, Hunter Hackney, Colt Hackney, Damien Hackney, Jake Hackney, Austin Hackney, Brandon Hackney, Kyle Hackney, Malanie Hackney, Anthony Richardel, and Nicole Richardel. His great-grandchild Presley Hackney-Johnston will remember him for his goofy antics, candid, and unwavering love.

Visitaiton will be Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 3PM to 5PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Graveside Services will be held Wednesday August 20th, 2025 at 10AM in the Runge Cemetery in Runge, TX.

Robert Hackney Sr. will be remembered as the person who would bring a little laughter, a person who had the best gestures, and the person who told the kids every morning to have a good day and to be good in school. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts.
