Maria G. Gonzales, Age 77 of Coy City passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 26, 2023.  Maria was born on October 28, 1946 in Tilden, TX to the late Dolores and Desideria “Chalella” Serrate Garcia.  She married Pedro Gonzales in 1969 in Karnes City, TX; was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a devout member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church and touched many lives of the children of Roger E. Sides Elementary and the Karnes City High School working in the cafeteria before her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dolores and Desideria “Chalella” Serrate Garcia, a son Jesus Gonzales; sisters, Lupe Almendarez and Lena Huerta.

She is survived by her loving husband, Pedro Gonzales of Coy City; sons, Pedro Gonzales, Jr. and wife Jo Ann of Kenedy, Samuel Gonzales, Sr. and wife Jo Lynn of Kenedy; sister, Angie Martinez of Christine; brothers, Felipe Garcia and Armando Garcia of Tilden; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of family members and dear friends.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home chapel.  Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at St Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, TX.  Interment will follow in the New Bremen Cemetery in New Bremen, TX.
