Julian Vasquez, Sr.

 

Julian Vasquez Sr., 80, of Pettus, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, in Beeville.

Mr. Vasquez was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Green to Eugenia (DeLuna) and Santos Vasquez Sr. He married Angelita Bargara on Aug. 7, 1992, and was a retired rancher and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pettus.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Angelita (Bargara) Vasquez of Pettus; a daughter, Estella Vasquez of Goliad; a stepdaughter, Ina (Patrick) Chapa of California; a son, Julian (Mari) Vasquez of Tuleta; two stepsons, James Edward (Margie) Salinas and Stephen (Kathy Nix) Salinas, both of Pettus; a sister, Linda Pina of Fresno; six brothers, Juan Vasquez, Ignacio Vasquez, Jesse Vasquez and Santos Vasquez Jr., all of Pettus, Moises Vasquez of Victoria and Raymond Vasquez of Natalia; and two grandchildren.

A rosary was recited Thursday evening, Sept. 29, at 7 o’clock at Eckols chapel in Kenedy.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Deacon Manuel Carranco officiating. Burial followed in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy.

Pallbearers were Blanca Estella Vasquez, Richard Vasquez, Moises Vasquez Jr., Jerry Vasquez, Christian Jordan Cruz and Michael Pina.
