Aurora Davila Gonzales, of Kenedy, Texas was born on January 6, 1943 in Corpus Christi to Frank and Theresa Rodriguez Davila passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the age of 74. Aurora was preceded in death by her husband, Matias Gonzales on Feburary 3, 2017. She is survived by her son, Matias(Martha) Gonzales, Jr. , grandsons, Gabriel Gonzales, of Kenedy, TX and Matias Gonzales, III; sisters, Angie (Alfred) Amador, of Kenedy, TX, Consuela (Rene) Sotelo, of Temple, TX; Nicholasa Rodriguez, of Kenedy, TX; brother, Angel and Rosie Davila, of La Grange, TX and other relatives. Visitation and Rosary were held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10:00a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with interment in the Loma Alta Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

Larry “Bosco” Dean Vickery

Larry “Bosco” Dean Vickery, of Edna, Texas born in Beeville, Texas to John and Bertha Donnell Vickery passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Victoria, TX at the age of 62. Bosco is preceded in death by his parents; his uncle, Charles and his aunt, Cleo ”Bill” Moses, and  his brothers: Don Vickery, John Vickery, Billie Ray Vickery. Survivors include his brothers, Melvin Vickery, of Corpus Christi, TX, Richard (Patricia), of Edna, TX and Jimmy (Bernadette), Edna, TX and sister-in-law, Margaret Vickery; nieces, Robin, Elaine, Dee, Valinda, Debbie, Mary Jo, Velvet, Julie, Tanya, and De Ann; nephews, John, Steven and Jimmy; and other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. in theEckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 1:30p.m. in the Eckols Funeral Home  Chapel.  Interment will follow in the  Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

William Mauritz “Bill” Anderson

William Mauritz “Bill” Anderson , age 81,  of Floresville , TX died Monday, August 7, 2017 after a long illness.  Bill was born to LeRoy and Ima Riddle Anderson on Feb. 10, 1936 in Austin, TX.   Bill married Linda Huddler Dec. 30, 1956 in Beeville, TX.   He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Army National Guard.  Bill was also a retired truck driver.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Anderson, of Floresville, TX; daughter, Sherri (Ben) Kruciak of Floresville, TX;  Sons:  Wayne (Barbara) Anderson of Portland, TX and  John Mauritz (Pamela) Anderson of Seguin, TX;  Sister, Nelda Pahmiyer of Edna,TX; grandchildren: Tiffany, Megan, Alyssa, Heather, Rebecca, Dara, Luke, Will, & Levi.  He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Janelda Faye Anderson.  Visitation will be held at the Eckols Chapel in Kenedy, TX on Tuesday , August 8, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM with Tom Bonham officiating.  Interment will be in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

Selsa R. Bryan

Selsa R. Bryan, Age 74 of Kenedy, TX passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. Selsa was born on April 6, 1943 in Kenedy to the late Adislario and Ignacia Castillo Rodriguez.  On June 22, 2002 she married Bays Bryan in Karnes City, TX. She was a home health provider, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a member of the Choate Baptist Church in Choate, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Adislario and Ignacia Castillo Rodriguez; sisters, Gloria Mendez, Frances Espinoza, Emma “Nena” Garcia, Mary Espinoza; and brother, Vicente Rodriguez.

She is survived by her husband, Bays Bryan of Kenedy; daughters, Lydia Garcia Barrientez and husband George of Kenedy, Marina Fuentes Morales and husband Jason of Karnes City; sons, Jose Alejandro Garcia and wife Rayline of Karnes City, Gilbert Garcia and wife Sharon of Kenedy, Juan Fuentes, Jr and wife Regina of Visalia, California, George Fuentes and wife Haydee of Karnes City, sister, Gregoria Perez of Abilene; brothers, Gabriel Rodriguez of Runge, Ruben Rodriguez of Beeville, 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.

Rena Ann Laudette Patton

Rena Ann Laudette Patton, age 71, of Kenedy, Texas, passed away July 21, 2017 in Kenedy, Texas. She was born on March 12, 1946 in Tacoma, WA, to the late Mike and Tilly Jane Smith Laudette.  On September 29, 1968, she married Clifford Neill Patton in San Antonio, Texas.  She was a nurses aid, a homemaker and a member of The Word Fellowship Church.  She is preceded in death by parents, Mike and Tilly Jane Smith Laudette; sisters, Elsie Forman and Patsy Smith; and three deceased brothers.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clifford Neill Patton of Kenedy; daughters, Rose Jane Macklin of Beeville, Texas and Callie Marie Nelson and husband, Christopher of Kenedy, Texas; and sister, Evelyn Wade of Llano, Texas.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017, from 9A.M. to 11A.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Services will begin at 11A.M., Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Walter Hill, III officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.

Alfred Charles McDonald, Jr.

Alfred Charles McDonald, Jr., Age 65 of Kenedy, TX passed away on July 12, 2017 in San Antonio, TX.   Jr. was born October 14, 1951 in San Antonio, TX to Alfrod C. and Eddie Marie Gentry McDonald. In September of 1968 he married Linda Kay Kortz in San Antonio,TX.  He retired as an oilfield consultant, was a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He is preceded in death by his father, Alfrod C. McDonald, Sr.; sisters, Leta Jones, Retha Phillips, Carolyn Warden; and brother, Calvin McDonald.  He is survived by his loving wife Linda Kay Kortz McDonald of Kenedy; mother, Eddie Marie Gentry McDonald of San Antonio; daughter, Vanessa McDonald of Kenedy; son, Alfred Charles McDonald, III and wife Isabella Karen of Kenedy; sisters, Viola Boehm of Mathis, Bernice Oferrel of Kansas, Lucille of Victoria; brother, Bufford McDonald of San Antonio and 4 grandchildren.  Visitation will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 2PM to 4PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Ila Raye Shaw

Ila Raye Christian Shaw was born on September 5, 1937 to Thomas and Thresa Christian. She entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on July 5, 2017 at the age of 79 years, 10 months.

Ila Raye attended school in Karnes City, TX. She was known by her middle name, Raye, until she met her husband, Ray.  She, at the time, started using her full name, Ila Raye.  She Married Emmett Ray Shaw on a whim in Mexico while they were there to witness a friend’s wedding.  The couple decided not to get married, so Ray and Ila Raye decided they would.  She was a hairdresser and homemaker for many years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kenedy, TX.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ray; her daughter, Sherry Salyer; her two grand-daughters, Staci and Shari Salyer; and her great-grandchildren, Caley Jackson, Makenna Salyer-Norman and Omar David “O.D.” Solano. She is also survived by her brother, Harold Christian, sister and brother-in-law, Mettie Dell and Henry Makowski and sister-in-law, Mary Christian.  Ila Raye was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Raymond Christain; sister-in-law, Ritchie Christian and son-in-law, David Salyer.

Ila Raye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who cherished time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed and always loved.

Visitation was held Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 10AM to 2PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Services began at 2PM Sunday, July 9, 2017 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Floyd Tompkins officiating.  Interment followed in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

Pallbearers were Andy Jabsen, Chris Jabsen, Bill Homeyer, Lee Homeyer, Tyrone Norman and Kyle Shaw

Clarence O. Haveman

Clarence Otto Haveman, longtime resident of Karnes County, passed away on June 20th, 2017 at the age of 97 years, 7 months and 3 days.  He was born in Oakland, TX on November 17, 1919, to Otto Haveman and Clara Engals Haveman.  In his younger years, Clarence lived in Corpus Christi where he worked as a city bus driver.  In 1942 he met and married Barbara Jean Mauer of Cuero, TX and they made their home in Kenedy, TX.  Clarence retired from Schlumberger, he worked at Karnes County Livestock Exchange, was a Kenedy Volunteer Fireman, coached Little League Baseball, pulled floats in the parades, was on the board of several companies. He was an active member of Hermanson Lodge 215 where he was awarded Humanitarian of the year for deeds and services and outstanding community service.  He was active as a “Pink Lady” to the Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital and helped with the tamale sale and other duties.  He was a rancher in Runge and Karnes City.  He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and helped raise money to buy the land and build the church.  He was Superintendent of the Sunday School department, a parish shepherd and board member.  Clarence loved his church and was always available to help. Clarence and Barbara had two sons, Carl Wayne (Karen) of Canyon Lake, and Curtis Lynn (Lynda) of Abilene, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  In 2006, Clarence married his longtime friend and second love of his life, Dee Yeater.  He enjoyed a full and rich life with fun and new adventures with Dee and her entire family.  He died in the arms of his loving wife, surrounded by family members.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his four sisters, Hilda Teltshick, Moreen Lipperdt, Elna Frlis, and Lillian Guettler, his great grandson Auron Land, and his wife Barbara Jean Mauer Haveman.  Clarence is survived by his children, grandchildren Craig (Meridith), Shannon (Jeffery), Kevin (Jennifer), Audra (Brad) and Curt (Meghan), 6 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by Dee’s children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be at Eckols Funeral Home Sunday, June 25 from 3:00P.M. to 5:00P.M..  Funeral Services will held Monday, June 26 at 10:30am at Eckols Funeral Home with Rev. Wally Schievelbein officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

            Donations to Clarence’s memory may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund or the charity of choice.

 

Ronald C. “Ronnie” Burns

Ronald C. “Ronnie” Burns of Kenedy passed away June 20, 2017 following a long illness.  Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Services will begin at 2:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matt Singleton officiating. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery  Ronnie was born in Kenedy to the late Marcus Paul Burns Sr. and Marjorie “Mark” Poindexter Burns. He worked for many years in Hobbs, NM before returning to Kenedy to care for his parents and the family farm.   He was survived by his children Denise & Mark McKenney and Steve and Sylvia Alves; his grandchildren Susan and Christopher McKenney, Shari Shipler, Cody Vardeman, and Heather and Jon Burman; niece Sharon Lechner and nephews Marcus Paul Burns III and Matthew Burns.   He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Lee Alves, and his brother Marcus Paul Burns Jr.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any local animal shelter.

Charlene was preceded in death by her daughters, Amber Nicole Brown and Dawn Ryne Foley; her parents, Charlie Foley Jr. and Callie Mae(Mikes); and 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Charlene is survived by her daughters, Tiffany R. (A.J.) Brown, of Edinburg, TX and Ashley C. Owens, of Copperas Cove, TX; 5 grandchildren, Ashton Stean, Landon Owens, Acelyn Dixson, Gilbert Vela and Cassandra Martinez; sisters, Anna L. Foley, of Karnes City, TX and Tanya Y. Foley, of Kenedy, TX; brothers, Carl L. (Delia) Foley, of Karnes City, TX, Paul (Rhonda) Foley, of Karnes City, TX and Charlie (Sharon) Foley, III, of Karnes City, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives. Visitaiton will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 1PM to 2PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Services will begin at 2PM, Saturday, June 10, 2017  in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
