Anna Lorette Foley

Anna Lorette Foley, Age 66 of Karnes City, TX went to be with Lord on Sunday January 1, 2023. She was born on April 27, 1956 in Karnes City, TX to the late Charlie, Jr. and Callie Mae (Mikes) Foley.  Anna graduated from Karnes City High School and Coastal Bend College with a degree in Cosmetology where she taught as a cosmetologist and later in life worked as a teacher’s aide at Karnes City ISD.  Anna was preceded in death by her son Jordon Tucker-Foley; parents Charlie Foley, Jr. and Callie Mae (Mikes) Foley; 4 sisters; 4 brothers and her 4 legged son Samson. Anna is survived by her son Jason Foley, Sr. (Maria)of Karnes City ; her grandchildren Rhianna Foley, Jason Foley, Jr. “Baby J”, JaRhian Foley, Sydney, Brittney and Gage Serenil of Karnes City,  Kobie Foley and Amorette Leal and Alivia Leal of Kenedy; brothers, Carl Foley (Delia) of Karnes City, Paul Foley (Rhonda) Karnes City, Charlie Foley,III (Sharon) of Karnes City; sister, Tanya Foley of Kenedy, TX; honorary son, Kyle Wiatrek (Celinda) of Karnes City; special niece Ashley Owens (Timothy) of Karnes City and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and a host of extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 11AM to 2PM with Celebration of Life Services at 2PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Black officiating. 

Alfredo “Fred” Hernandez

Alfredo “Fred” Hernandez, Age 72 of Kenedy, TX passed away January 8, 2023 in Karnes City TX.  Fred was born on December 11, 1950 in Nordheim, TX to the late Benito and Adela Elizondo Hernandez.  Fred was a loving son, brother, uncle friend to many and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Fred is preceded in death by his Parents Benito and Adela Elizondo Hernandez and a brother Benito Hernandez, Jr.

Fred is survived by his loving sister, Gloria Puente of Kenedy; nephews, Rick Puente of Canyon Lake, Phillip Hernandez of Victoria, Ben Sylvestre Hernandez of Victoria, niece, Jansje Hernandez of Victoria and many dear family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00AM with a Holy Rosary beginning at 11:00 AM and Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 11:30 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Ploch officiating.  Interment will follow in the Loma Alta Cemetery in Kenedy.

Maria Rivas Alaniz

Maria Rivas Alaniz, Age 92 of Pawnee, TX passed away January 5, 2023 in Karnes City, TX surrounded by her loving family.  Maria was born on July 31, 1930 in Runge, TX to the late Santos and Adela Resendez Rivas.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandchildren, aunt, sister, homemaker, member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and dear friend to many who will be greatly missed. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Santiago Alaniz; parents, Santos and Adela Resendez Rivas; daughter, Eva Ochoa; sister, Minerva Aguirre and brothers, Santos Rivas, Amado Rivas, Martin Rivas.

She is survived by her children, Guadalupe Velasquez and husband Raul of Pawnee, Margaret Camacho and husband Marcelo, Jr. of Pawnee, Adelita Camacho and husband Mariano of Beeville, Palmera Cases of San Antonio, Mary Helen Alaniz of San Antonio; Sons, Santiago Alaniz and wife Gloria of Lenz, Alonzo Alaniz of Pawnee, Martin Alaniz of Pawnee; sister, Carolina DeLeon of Beeville; 29 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.  

A Holy Rosary will be recited Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 9:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Ploch officiating.  Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Pawnee, TX.

Dominga Garcia Rodriguez

Dominga Garcia Rodriguez, Age 84 of Kenedy, TX passed away January 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  Dominga was born on October 9, 1938 in Helena, TX to the late Lorenzo and Paula Rivas Garcia.  She married Guadalupe Rodriguez, Sr. on August 23, 1960 who preceded her in death. She retired as a head cook for the San Cristobal ranch; was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church who will dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Rodriguez, Sr.; parents, Lorenzo and Paula Rivas Garcia; daughter, Patricia Rodriguez Serna; grandson, David Rodriguez and a sister Maggie Garcia.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula Rodriguez of San Juan, Sylvia Martinez of Kenedy, Norma Rodriguez of Kenedy, Nancy Rodriguez of Victoria, Elisa Rosales of Victoria, Estella Medina of Victoria, Sandra Rodriguez of Victoria, Sara Rodriguez of Kenedy; sons, Guadalupe Rodriguez, Jr. of Victoria, Gilbert Rodriguez of Kenedy, David Rodriguez of Kenedy, Jesse Rodriguez of Kenedy, Roberto Rodriguez of San Diego, CA; sisters, Maria Louisa Garcia of New Mexico, Maria Elena Guzman of Houston, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and many dear friends.

Welton E. Fudge

Welton E. Fudge, 92, of Mineral, Tx went to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 27,2022. He was born October 13,1930, in Bee County, Texas to the late Lee and Viola (Stevens) Fudge.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday January 2, 2023, at Eckols Funeral Home, 420 W Live Oak St, Kenedy, TX. Services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday January 3, 2023, at Eckols Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery. Lunch will be provided at the Kenedy Church of Christ.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Kovar, Nomar Maldonado, Garrett Kunkel, Cody Kunkel, Blake Kovar, Broden Fudge.

Welton was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Viola Fudge, his beloved wife of 62 years Maxine Fudge, grandson Timothy Smith, Ronny Fudge Jr, son in law James Smith, Sister Letha Lee (Hank) Snead, Brother Cecil (Dona) Fudge, and Leon Fudge.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Fudge, his sons, Ronny (Shirley) Fudge, Robert (Crystal) Fudge; his daughters, Linda (David) Ivey, Carol (Andrew) Davis; 9 grandchildren Randy (Rachel) Fudge, Cheryl (Matthew) Gierish, Niki (Scott) Leighton, Rhonda (Brandon) Hong, Candace (Josh) Kovar, Justin (Erin) Fudge, Kathleen (Alan) Kunkel, Kent (Noelia) Ivey, Jaime (Michael) Morris. 9 great grandsons Nolan Araujo, Brandon Kovar, Nomar Maldonado, Garrett Kunkel, Cody Kunkel, Blake Kovar, Broden Fudge, Maverick Ivey, Ace Leighton. 9 great-grand daughters Bailey Fudge, Scarlett Hong, Emily Morris, Megan Gierish, Makayla Kovar, Luna Mae Ivey, Maxine Morris, Carolyn Morris, Macy Gierish. A host of step grandkids, great grandkids, and great great grandkids.

Welton attended Patty Welder until the eighth grade then he went to work on the farm. He then decided to go to work at Central Power and Light Company at the age of 19 years old. He worked for them for 41 years before retirement as a lineman. Anytime we passed an CPL-AEP truck he practically climbed out of the window to wave at them. He was a very active Christian attending Kenedy Church of Christ for many years. He had many hobbies: wolf, coon, fox, hog, deer, and bird hunting and breaking horses: along with playing wahoo, chicken foot, hand and foot, trail, canasta, hearts. He especially loved it when his son would take him to Yoakum to play dominoes. He also loved to camp with his family and his CPL friends. Above all else he loved spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandkids and great grandkids!

Susana Nunez Salinas

Susana Nunez Salinas, Age 76 of Kenedy, TX passed away on December 17, 2022 in Victoria, TX.  Susana was born on November 25, 1946 in Kenedy to the late Manuel L. and Olivia Farias Nunez.  She married Bennie Salinas, Jr on December 27, 1986 who precedes her in death.  Susana was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, homemaker, friend to many and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Salinas, Jr.; parents, Manuel L. and Olivia Farias Nunez; sisters, Rosita Salinas and Flora Segura.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzette Salinas and Mario Rodriguez, Jr. of Victoria; step-daughter, Norma Jean Salinas and Marin Cantu of Kenedy; step-sons, Michael and Tina Salinas of Choate, Bennie A Salinas, III of Kenedy; sisters, Maria Nunez of Kenedy, Manuela Herrera of Runge; brothers, Joe F. Nunez of Kenedy, Manuel Nunez, Jr. of Nordheim; 7 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.

Joe Bailey Doreck

Joe Bailey Doreck, 87, woke up in the presence of God December 6, 2022, at home in Mineral, TX with family at his side. He was born March 4, 1935, at home in Karnes County, TX to Walter and Alice (Atkinson) Doreck. Joe graduated from Pettus High School in Pettus, TX, and attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX.

Growing up in Karnes County, he was a member of the Choate Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He worked on the family dairy farm and showed fat hogs and steers at the Bee County Junior Livestock Show. Joe and Betty (Williams) were married in Choate, TX September 2, 1955. After 3 years of traveling with Southern Pacific Railroad, they settled in Ingleside, TX while he worked for Reynolds Metals. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Ingleside where they raised their four children – Troy, Cindy, Becky, and Craig. Many years you could find the family riding with the South Texas Trailriders.

Joe started his own business, Doreck Construction, in Ingleside, TX. While running the daily operations of his business he also raised cattle and horses. After over 30 years in the industry, he retired then relocated to Mineral, TX where he continued ranching until his passing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Faye Stockton, Edmond Ray Doreck, Wesley Doreck, and son, Troy Joe Doreck.

Joe is survived by his children, Cindy (John) Cudd, Becky Tobolka Love, and Craig Doreck; a number of loving grandchildren and even more great-grandchildren; sisters, LaVerne Simmons, Ida Ruth O’Niell, Bea (Tinker) Ramsey; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and cherished friends.

Joe was a member of the South Texas Hereford Association and showed many years at the special Show & Sale in Beeville, TX. He was also a member of Mineral Baptist Church and an avid supporter and volunteer of the community wide Saturday breakfast once a month through the church.

Joe was known by everyone in South Texas due to his business and ranching. It gave him great joy to give out bottles of honey that were harvested on his ranch. Many people thoroughly enjoyed going to the ranch to dove, turkey, and deer hunt over the years. Joe looked forward to family holidays and reunions, his special Father’s Day trips, hunting trips to Colorado and New Mexico, and many other reasons to get together.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Eckols Funeral Home in Kenedy, TX. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00 am at Eckols Funeral Home Chapel in Kenedy, TX. Interment will follow at Mineral Cemetery, Mineral, TX and reception at the Mineral Baptist Church pavillion.

Pallbearers will be Llyod Koerth, Danny Koerth, Wayne Stockton, Lance O’Niell, Garrison Doreck, and Brandon Doreck with Paul Campbell as an Honorary Pallbearer.

Alexander Flores Ruiz

Alexander Flores Ruiz, Age 55 of San Antonio, TX passed away on November 23, 2022 in San Antonio, TX.  Alexander was born on October 10, 1967 in San Antonio to the late Santos Ruiz, Jr. and Guadalupe Flores Ruiz.  He was a retired appliance repair technician, married Amy R. Ruiz who precedes him in death, was a loving father, brother, uncle, a member of The Knights of Columbus and of the Catholic Faith.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Amy R. Ruiz; parents, Santos Ruiz, Jr. and Guadalupe Flores Ruiz; and a sister Julia F. Ruiz.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Rivera Ruiz of San Antonio; sister Mary J. Flores of San Antonio and a host of family members and friends.

Family Visitation will begin Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5PM to 7PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 2, 2022 at 10:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Nuemi Vasquez Garcia

Nuemi Vasquez Garcia, Age 87 of Pawnee, TX passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at home. She was born on July 16, 1935 in Nell, TX to the late Manuel H. Garcia, Sr. and Carolina Vasquez Garcia. Nuemi worked as a live in maid, a nanny and in home health before retirement, was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend to many and of the Catholic Faith. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel H. Garcia, Sr. and Carolina Vasquez Garcia; sisters, Maria Rodriguez, Antonia Gonzales; brothers, Manuel Garcia, Jr., Benito Garcia, Paul Garcia, and Domingo Garcia.

She is survived by her sisters, Refugia “Cookie” Campos of Pawnee, TX, Francis Guerra of Karnes City, TX, Ernestina Belyeu of Three Rivers; brother, Jesus Garcia of Lubbock, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Holy Rosary will be recited Monday, November 21, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert Hermann officiating.  Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Pawnee, TX.

Mary Alice May

Mary Alice May, a lifelong resident of Kenedy, TX, entered eternal rest at her home, November 3, 2022 at 3:06am, at the age of 92.  Mary Alice was born and raised in Kenedy, TX., October 2, 1930, the daughter of Sam A. and Lois Hail May.  Mary Alice enjoyed her life in Kenedy and on February 12, 1949, married Paul K. May.  They raised eight wonderful children and were married for 64 years.
            Mary Alice could always be seen at school anytime treats and parties were needed.  Even though she didn’t participate in sports, she and Paul drove far and wide to see their children and grandchildren participate.  Teams in Kenedy and numerous other schools and universities couldn’t have had a better cheerleader. She also followed her children to many horseshows and parardes.
            Mary Alice held many offices with the Chamber of Commerce and was selected Citizen of the Year.  If you needed a parade organized, she and Carolyn MacDonald were your girls.  She was also an original member of the Progressive Study Club, along with the Kenedy Cemetery Association, Kenedy Historical Society, First Bapist Church and recognized by the Kenedy Masonic Lodge.
            Mary Alice and Paul followed his parents in the restaurant business as owners of Mays and with their daughters, Candace and Melanie in Barth’s Restaurant.  You could always find her behind the counter or “holding court” at the big table at Barth’s.
            Mary Alice is survived by her seven children, Sharon Rinehart (Mike) of Red Rock, TX; Paul May (Patty) of Canyon Lake, TX; Candace May of Kenedy; Lyndale Gray (Farrell) of Roanoke, TX; Elizabeth Miller (Dave) of Sunset, SC; Melanie Ferguson (Tim) of Kenedy, TX; and James May of Kenedy, TX.
            Mary Alice is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Leslie May, Meredith Fisherling, Mattison May, Kelsie Schirmann, Austin Gray, Haley Grant, Elizabeth Liberty, Steven Liberty, Colby May, Sheldon May, Kalli Ebrom, Mackenzi Ferguson, and Courtnie Ferguson, along with their amazing spouses.  She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, Beverly May, and cousin Barbara May Waelder.  She is also survived by her sister Cynthia May Roberson of Leakey, TX.
            Mary Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Paul K. May, parents, Sam A. May and Lois Hail May, her brother Sam May and her daughter Carol Liberty.
            The May family would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our staff at Barth’s.  Their friendship and dedication to Mary Alice is greatly appreciated.  We would also like to thank the staff, especially Shelbey and Sergio, at New Century Hospice in Victoria, TX, along with Dr. Rayford Mitchell.  Mary Alice was also blessed to have some wonderful caregivers that played a big part in her care and well-being over the last several years.  Their dedication and love was a blessing to the family.  They are Patricia Arnold, Beatrice Morales, Leticia Ramos, Elisa Guevara, Amy Gross, Linda Gonzales, and Sandy Santos.
           

Family Visitation will be held Monday, November 7, 2022, from 9am to 11am, with Funeral Services beginning at 11am in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Hill, III officiating.  Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery, in Kenedy, TX.
