Maxine Kathryn Linder Hazlett
Maxine Kathryn Linder Hazlett, age 96, former resident of Kenedy, Texas passed away in New Braunfels, Texas on April 24, 2016, following a continuing struggle with congestive heart failure. Born in Kenedy, Texas to William Henry Yeater and Martha Levora Shaw Yeater, on October 7, 1919 and raised in Kenedy, Texas, she married her high school sweetheart, Royce Holden Linder on January 11, 1936. They shared 58 years together. They raised four sons and spent many exciting times involving fishing, hunting and sports activities. Maxine was proficient with a .22 rifle and won numerous shooting contests. Maxine attended Beauty College in San Antonio, Texas shortly after becoming married. She eventually owned her own beauty shop for over 50 years. She was instrumental in developing a number of fashion shows through the years. At age 60 she obtained her insurance license and generated a career in that field. Maxine was also an accomplished seamstress. With the assistance of her four sons, Maxine wrote and published her life story in four volumes and named the series, “Wofford Crossing Road.” Maxine treasured her faith and her family. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and daily lived her faith. Maxine often stated her family was her greatest achievement and credited her beloved family for her longevity. In 1994, Maxine’s sweetheart Royce passed away. A few years later she met and married Dwight Hazlett, a retired college professor from A&M Kingsville. Dwight passed away in 2012. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her eldest son Bill R. Linder. She is survived by her remaining three sons, James Linder, Jack Linder and his wife Linda, Bob Linder and his wife Melanie. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren (15), great grandchildren (47) and great, great grandchildren (2). Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3 2016 10AM to 11AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Immediately following the service interment will be at the Kenedy Cemetery.
