Frances A. “Sugar” Froling Moses
Frances A. “Sugar” Froling Moses passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on May 8, 2026.
Frances was born on March 30, 1940, in Normanna, Texas, at the Staples Family Farm, to Carl and Lois Froling. She entered the world with beautiful crystal-blue eyes and was one of six girls. She spent her early childhood growing up alongside her sisters in Tuleta, Texas, where she attended elementary school, junior high school before continuing on to Pettus High School. It was during her high school years that she met the love of her life, Billy B. Moses. They were married on June 5, 1958, and together built a life and home filled with love and cherished memories.
Frances and Billy enjoyed their weekends by dancing, fishing, attending cook-offs, traveling to Concan, and gathering with family. Over the years, Frances held several jobs before discovering her true passion in education. Her career brought her many fond memories, lasting friendships, and countless stories. She retired from Pettus ISD in 2000 after many years of dedicated service.
Frances lived an active and healthy life, always taking pride in her appearance and carrying herself with grace and confidence. Beyond her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, she was known for her remarkable green thumb. Every flower she touched and every garden she nurtured reflected her special gift.
She was no stranger to hard work—whether cutting grass, trimming trees, building fences, or taking on home improvement projects as her own contractor. Her family was often surprised by her latest endeavor, from repainting her home to completing full remodeling projects entirely on her own.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lois Froling; her beloved husband, Billy B. Moses; and her sisters, JoAnn Nelson and Dauris White.
She is survived by her children: Brenda A. Donnell (James, deceased), Billy “Andy” Moses, Darryl (Cindy) Moses, Jonathan “Craig” Moses, and Carl “Eric” (Megan) Moses. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Heather Gonzales, James C. Donnell, Brittany Moses, Emily
Reynolds, Madison Upton, Dr. Delanie Moses, Johnathon Moses, Julie Moses, Bianca Moses, Kelsie Moses, and Kayleigh Moses; her sisters: Linda (Ralph) Stauffer, Maxine (Randy) Carson, and Carleen (Wayne) Scheffer; as well as nine great-grandchildren, two great-greatgrandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, her cherished dog, Kilo, and her adored two cats, Buddy and Baby.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 10AM to 11AM with Services at 11AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, TX.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Wayne Scheffer, Johnathan Moses, Patrick Nelson, Travis Reynolds, Aaron DeLaCruz and Zackary Gonzales.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Trinity Hospice for their kindness, care, love, and
compassion during Frances’s final journey.
