Adolfo “Duffy” DeLeon
Adolfo “Duffy” DeLeon, 77, of Pawnee, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2026 surrounded by his loving wife and three children. He was born in Kenedy, Texas on July 12, 1948 to Enrique “Henry” DeLeon and Elena “Elaine” Delagarza DeLeon. He grew up as a migrant farm worker with his family and eventually settled in Pawnee, Texas. His migrant experience forged in him an incredible, quiet strength. Adolfo attended Pawnee Elementary, Middle and High School. It was at Pawnee High where he met the love of his life, Annie Lundquist. They were married at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on September 5,1970. He attended a two year mechanics course at Bee County College (now Coastal Bend College) and took great pride in his ability to fix things with his own two hands. He worked as a gas plant operator in Fashing, Texas for 39 years and was known for having a dedicated, hard work ethic and great sense of humor. Duffy DeLeon was a devoted father, husband, PoPo, brother and friend. He is best remembered for his kindness, generosity, strong work ethic, humor and joyful nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, playing his guitar, cooking, taxidermy, woodworking and cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Astros. He found great joy in attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals, spending time with his family, playing his guitar and dancing the night away with his wife. He is survived by his beloved wife Annie DeLeon of Pawnee; children Rebecca DeLeon-Boewe (Peter) of San Antonio, Justin DeLeon (Melinda) of San Antonio and Bridgit Hernandez (Joe) Kenedy and his 5 grandchildren Jose “Cuatro” IV, Alejandra and Cristian Hernandez of Kenedy and Taylor and Maddie DeLeon of San Antonio. Brothers Jimmy DeLeon (Margaret) of Pawnee, Bobby DeLeon (Mary) of Pawnee, Rickey DeLeon (Kay) of Kenedy, Albert DeLeon (Blanca) of Mineral and sister Betty Aguirre (Ronnie) of George West .His brothers and two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Aguirre and Carl Lundquist, served as pallbearers. He was preceded in death by his parents Enrique “Henry” and Elena “Elaine” DeLeon. Duffy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, perseverance, hard work and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
A Holy Rosary will be Recited at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 14, 2026 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel in Kenedy, TX. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Pawnee, TX with the Rev. Ryzsard Zielinski officiating. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Pawnee, TX.
