Mildred L. Kanak, age 81 of Pettus, TX passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 in Karnes City, TX. Mildred was born on August 27, 1935 to the late Clinton Day “Skinner” and Mozelle Owens Stuart in Eastland, TX. On June 3, 1956 she married A.L. Kanak in Pettus, TX who preceded her in death on January 31, 2016.  Mildred was a retired secretary, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, a member of First Christian Church and the first lady elected to the Pettus I.S.D School Board.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Kanak; parents, Clinton Day “Skinner” and Mozelle Owens Stuart.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Clinton Kanak and wife Jimmie of Canyon Lake, TX, Kevin Kanak of Corpus Christi, TX, Kody Kanak and wife Stacy of Kenedy, TX; a brother, J.E. Stuart and wife Delma of Luling, TX; Grandchildren, Kellen, Bryce, Kristy, Craig and Kendall and Great-Grandson Ezekiel.

Family Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 5PM to 7PM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11AM in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wally Schievelbein officiating.   Interment will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery, Kenedy, TX.

Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church.
