Jovita Maria (Gonzalez) Peña, 84, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011.

Mrs. Peña was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Edinburg to Agapito and Guadalupe (Buenrostro) Gonzalez. She married Domingo H. Peña Sr. in 1962, and was a homemaker and member of San Antonio for Christ Christian Church in San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Domingo H. Peña Sr.; two sisters, Soledad Arguelles and Flavia Cerda; and a brother, Manuel Gonzalez.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarita Peña and Ida (Geraldo) Mechler, both of San Antonio; and four sons, Julio Peña, Domingo Peña Jr., Lupe Peña and Jesse (Josephine) Peña, all of San Antonio.

A prayer service was held Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. at Eckols chapel in Kenedy.

The funeral service was conducted there at 10 o’clock Friday morning, Oct. 7, with Rev. Armando Gutierrez officiating. Burial followed in Pettus Cemetery.
