Kenneth Rochell Leggett, Jr., M.D. (1931-2010)
Kenneth Rochell Leggett, 79 of Pettus, Texas, a retired Arlington obstetrician/gynecologist and avid outdoorsman, passed away quietly
On September 11, 2010 after a courageous battle with brain cancer
Kenneth was born on August 26, 1931, in Westlake, Louisiana, and was raised in Pettus, Texas. After Graduating high school, Kenneth enrolled in Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas for one year, then attended the University of Texas at Austin. After UT, Kenneth graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in 1955 with his medical degree. In 1956, he married his wife of 54 years, Beverly. Kenneth and Beverly moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Kenneth served his country honorably as a captain and flight surgeon in the United States Air Force. After completing his residency in Dallas, he and his family moved back to Arlington in 1961 where he practiced as an obstetrician/gynecologist for 41 years.
Kenneth was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed. He was honest, loving, pragmatic, dependable and loyal to all who knew him. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Arlington and was quietly philanthropic to those in need. He loved the outdoors and especially hunting and fishing. He went to Alaska each year for 20 years, where he enjoyed cooking for the other hunters as much as hunting and fishing. He retired to his ranch near his hometown of Pettus where he enjoyed the everyday puttering and tinkering of ranch life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth, Sr. and Juanita and son, Kenneth Hunt Leggett. He is survived by his wife Beverly, son, Steven, daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Bill Linscott and their children, Billy, Kit and Courtney.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Mineral Cemetery in Mineral, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the charity of your choice.
